Wow, what an amazing game that has now raised the bar for any future games in the Haunted Hotel series. I loved the beta for this game and have been eagerly awaiting its release and now it is finally here!

Everything about this game is almost perfect with excellent graphics, top-notch voiceovers, and a great storyline that grabbed me from the beginning. There are interesting and varied HOPS, and fairly challenging puzzles as well to keep things interesting. Just when I was beginning to burn out on HOPA games there is now an exciting game that is geared to the adults who are interested in more than cutesy fairies and princesses. Here is a gritty game with a mature theme and some ghostly scares.

It is a dark and snowy night as you are traveling a road in the state of Washington on your way to visit the Axiom Hotel. You are stopped along the way by a patrolman whose car has spun out on the road so you give him a lift to the hotel since that is his destination as well. No sooner do you arrive than things begin to happen that will test your investigative skill. The game has a cast of interesting characters one of which might be a copycat serial killer.

Pull out all the stops as you solve interesting mini-games, search for clues in varied HOPS and hopefully find out whom or what is killing the guests at the Axiom Hotel. The mini-games are quite good with some even challenging. I am not going to give you all the spoilers and details since it really is more fun to find out what they entail by playing the game for yourself.

There was no way I was going to be able to wait another month for the SE release of this game so I purchased the CE before even bothering to download the demo. I loved every minute of the beta and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this game. There are some creepy and downright scary moments that come together to create what I consider one of the best games this year. The game might not be for everyone so please try the demo to make sure this is a game you will enjoy. Show less

Intriguing, challenging and it keeps you on your toes! Great game and I only did the demo on both the regular and the Collector's game. Am buying the Collector's game now because I want to know "Who did it"!

This game knocked my socks off as far as quality. The music, the story, the graphics, the games, all top notch! I hope the game developers take a close look at this one. It raises the bar as to what hidden object adventure games should excel at.

Haunted Hotel: The Axiom Butcher is a really good mystery/thriller detective-game for gamers who love spine-chilling mysteries! You're a detective who's had car trouble in the middle of a snow storm and the only revuge is a hotel in the distance. As soon as you get there, however, people are getting murdered! Who could be the gruesome killer? Is he the ghost of a notorious killer who's claimed several victims in the past, or a copy cat that's out for something sinister? Uncover the secrets behind the characters you meet as you get closer to finding out who the murderer is! The visuals/sounds are amazing and the storyline is intriguing and above that, realistic. The game has a scene at the start where the "psychic" character uses tarot cards to predict events that will occur. And then we dive right into the game. We're on our way to the Axiom Hotel, where the infamous serial killer, the Axiom Butcher, once stayed. They named this killer the Axiom Butcher because he murdered everyone in the hotel after another guest informed the police that the killer was staying there. From the moment we arrive, we notice our good friend James, but we can't speak to him yet, as he's undercover. And we're soon investigating a murder.

I will admit that I went into this game knowing what would happen up until a certain point. I had played either the beta or a demo of this before now, but I hadn't purchased it until recently. I am very glad I did. It is another wonderful addition to the Haunted Hotel series. The visuals and sound are amazing, as always. The fun and challenge level are great. The story has a good mix of spooky and terrifying. What I knew prior to playing the full game did not take away any enjoyment I had playing it.

I will make a small complaint. In the game, we stumble across the room of one of the guests... well, we find the door to the room. The door soon opens and we understand that the guest is in danger. From there, we take our sweet time and don't inform James about it, even when we find evidence that this guest is the next victim. Or that his suspect couldn't be the killer, but it made for some good suspense.

The story behind these killings is a sad one on some levels. I won't spoil it here or tell you who the culprit is, but I found myself less and less thrilled with the majority of the cast as the game went on. They're all gathered there for a reason...

Overall, it's a great game. I had a lot of fun playing it. And it's always nice to see our "good friend, James" in these games. Show less

I genuinely and truly enjoyed this murder mystery/detective/thriller game. It is super engaging, loved the creepiness factor and gory details here and there - it was applied tastefully and only up to a point to make the entire making process more captivating.

I really enjoyed this one. Although it did deal with the supernatural, it was more than that. It offered a real story with great games and skill levels that I enjoy.

Graphics were excellent. Colors were pleasant and real to life and the sound, including the voice overs were well done. Even the music was very tolerable.

I mentioned that the levels of skill were to my liking. I even played most of the mini games. There were a few that didn't make sense to me, but bless that custom difficulty level. I set it to the quickest for hint and skip so it was just matter of hitting that magic button and off I went to the next part. Hidden objects, although nothing new we haven't seen before, were varied and kept my interest. As mentioned there are several degrees of difficulty from normal to custom. I am so glad the developers have about all added that custom one.

I enjoyed the story. Even though it did have ghosts, the story had me from the very beginning and even though I figured out what was going on and who the culprit was early on, it still kept me wondering until the very end. Was it the ghost or the butcher returned to seek revenge? Guess you'll have to play to find out.

All in all this was a very good game. I'm one of those who likes James and would have liked to have seen more of him, but maybe next time.

Give the demo a try and see what you think. It was a buy for me and I swore off supernatural games, so you know there must be something more to this than that. This may very well be my game of the year. Show less
