I love this kind of solitaire. It requires the ability to plan in a way that's almost impossible in the various standard solitaires. Give it an honest try. Warning: requires focus.
I recommend this game!

I happen to like this type of Solitaire. I think the developers have learned to give you some of the joker cards, etc. in the beginning instead of you having to wait to buy them. I realize my reviews for games by this dev sound repetitive, but that's because the games are recycled games. I realize my reviews for games by this dev sound repetitive, but that's because the games are recycled games. They sometimes change the backgrounds (I say sometimes because the Detective game last week had the same exact images that were offered in the first one, so they didn't even change that feature!) but basically, the only thing they change on all their games is the title.
The only mystery here is why they continue to offer the same style of Solitaire when there are so many to choose from, and why they continue to offer the least popular type? Like its predecessor, The Black Raven, Arkham's Spirits is just another cookie cutter version of all the other solitaire games by this dev. Once again, this is a Solitaire game where the game ends once all Gold Cards have been removed, I'm way too OCD for this feature, I want to be able to remove ALL of the cards on the board to receive a perfect score, not just some of them! I will play a level over and over until I achieve my goal of what I consider to be a perfect score. For the life of me, I can't understand why they can't make an adjustment to allow the option of continuing to play for points once all of the gold cards have been removed???
You can choose from 9 Mystery themed card backs, and 3 different face card fonts. You begin the game in Newbie mode, which allows you to replay any hand, the Professional mode only allows you to replay the entire pack of 10 levels. There are 12 different Packs, and each pack has 10 levels, you need to earn the specified amount of points to unlock the next pack, and the scoring is similar to bowling, in the event of a perfect score, the points of that level are added to the next.
Another feature I don't like in this devs games is that the tutorial makes you click another card off of the deck even though there are several more cards available on the board. I'm reluctant to skip the tutorial just in case they have added a new feature, which never happens, but one never knows, and I remain hopeful. I also hate that when you remove a Bonus card with a Gem it takes forever to explain what the card gives you, as it freezes continued gameplay to tell you what you won. Most of the time it gives you +499 extra points, but occasionally, a Joker, Mulligan or a Shuffle, finding two of these cards back to back is agonizing!
If you own or played any games by this dev, you've more than likely already played this one because you just can't tell the difference between them!

Wow, once again you don't even have to clear all the cards to win, no challenge, no fun. Same old game with a different name so don't waste your time.

Don't tell us we'll enter an "entrancing world" and explore locations connected with "Howard's" life, when
1- THERE IS NO STORY!
2- THERE IS NO HOWARD! Now, maybe I'm wrong to assume they mean THE H. P. Lovecraft, author, when they say Howard. Arkham is, after all, the fictional town invented by H. P. But, out in Internet-land Howard is the star of third rate animated movies!

This game is 99% the same as the Detective Solitaire games (one released here last week), as well as most others by this developer. The other 1% consists of only the title of the game, the card images, the titles of the chapters (the "locations" in Howard's life), and the chapter background images (some of them). That sounds like more than 1%, but really, the game is THE SAME!
One-up-one-down solitaire. Cards with a rose gain you extra coins to buy upgrades like wild cards and mulligans. Your aim is to use all the gold cards, not to clear the board. You can progress to the next level without getting all the gold cards. Why play?
We've got Mystery Solitaire, and we've got Detective Solitaire. No need for both. No need for either. Why does the developer keep spitting these out? Surely players have figured out they're the same game by now. Surely?
If you love H. P. Lovecraft (my computer is named Lovecraft... he's an HP), there are games available here. Show less

If you have never played a solitaire game from this developer, then you may enjoy it as a few others have done. However, Arkham's Spirits may sound intriguing but it's not. Power-ups are few and need to be purchased with the coins you earn. If you score poorly on levels, it takes forever to buy jokers and such.
There's no cool animation or other things to build or collect. I know the game of solitaire is . . . well . . . solitary. But this game gets downright boring quite quickly. There's simply nothing special about it at all. Show less

I have completed the first 3 sets of games, perfect scores and can go no further. Frustrating. There's no source for asking how this is scored. What a waste of time. And patience. AGH!!
