I absolutely love the variety of Mosaics this dev offers, and I'm becoming a huge fan of this series. However, I wasn't able to play this game on my Windows 10 PC, and when I switched to my Mac, it worked, but a pop-up window warned that the game wasn't optimized for the newer versions and that the dev would need to update their software. I realize that this is a smaller developer, but Windows and Mac OS are only going to move forward, so this is an issue they're going to have to address sooner or later.
The main features of this series are that they take you to the World's Greatest Cities and tell you some interesting facts about the city you are visiting, they also offer a custom difficulty mode, and they have interactive Mosaics that movements such as boats or turtles in the water.

You can play in a Casual, Normal or Expert difficulty mode, or you can customize the difficulty mode by choosing if you want to play in a timed mode, if you want bonus points as a time bonus, whether you want numbers crossed off one by one or only when the entire row has been completed, and you can set the number of mistakes allowed from 1-5 and how long it takes for the hint feature to recharge from 30-120 seconds.
There are 3 different types of Mosaics offered in this version

*Traditional (multi-colored) which has 3 different colors to switch between to help you solve the puzzle. (there are also multi-colored Shape puzzles, my personal favorite, where shapes replace the numbers, if you scan over the shape, the traditional is displayed) In some of the puzzles, some sections may be locked, requiring you to complete a different color to unlock those sections.
*Mystery Lands which fills in each cell with 3 different kinds of pictures that when complete forms a beautiful scene, often with swimming fish, turtles or boats.

*Labyrinth Game is similar to Mystery Lands, but after completing the puzzle, you guide a ball through the maze from point A to B by clicking on intersections of the maze.

The World’s Greatest Mosaics is close to my favorite with Fantasy Mosaics still being in first place even though these games have the features that I love. If there is one difference for me is that the tiles and boards are smaller. That being said, World’s Greatest Cities are wonderful games and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves mosaic type games.
Thank you BFG for bringing us such a great variety of mosaic games to choose when we want some extra fun. Even though I love this game, I always recommend that you try the demo to see if World’s Greatest Cities mosaics will be a game you also enjoy. Happy gaming! Show less

So far, so very good. I was really pleased to see some patterns, grass, flowers, walkways and water used to create the mosaics. It adds more to the puzzle than just the plain color tiles. The tiles also overlapped and flowed from one to the other, and animations were also included, creating a less pixelated pattern. The first few levels were very easy, but the complexity soon increased. One point of irritation was that I turned off the tutorial (they drive me crazy), but instructions on left- and right-clicks kept appearing. It would be nice if the finished mosaics were labeled, many could have been anywhere in the world. Not sure why Thailand was associated with such generic puzzle boards. Perhaps Thailand was just a name assigned to a similar group of puzzles. I did spend my hard-earned coupon code on this game, and expect it will keep the monkey brain engaged for many hours and weeks to come.
I've also had problems recently with these older game platforms starting properly on Windows 10, but if I start the newly installed game from the icon placed on the desktop, I usually have better luck. I think the Game Manager just gags on the older platforms. If the desktop icon doesn't work, I use the Task Manager to stop the game and Game Manager (Windows keeps running the game even though it isn't starting up.) Then restart the Game Manager, use the icon again, and everything seems to be fine from there on. Sort of kludgy, but it works for me. Show less

I love the grid games, no matter who is the developer. But, I really like the World's Greatest ones because they add more than just the grid and the multiple colors. There are the shapes and the mazes. And the beautiful gardens.
The backgrounds of world scenes are a plus!

I love these games. This one was very good with the addition of being able to pick the type of squares you want. I believe there are 10 designs to pick from. It makes it easier to see if there is a lot of white or pale squares. I almost missed it. There is a pointer right under the ? at the bottom by menu. I still would like for the picture to be labeled. I play Mosaic games every day (at least 3 grids). I buy every title of the FM series. It's become a test for me to see how fast I can complete them, and in order to do that some fundamental aspects need to be in place with this series.
I hope this developer knows how devoted I am to helping this series become the best it can be when I offer my suggestions to perfect it.
1. I would change the outer grid area color, where the numbers are-- from black--to a light color. The SHADOW GUIDE needs to extend from the row all the way INTO the numbers. I keep losing my place and mis-click due to this problem.
I have to completely agree with CyndiLouWho2's review of this game (but I didn't have the WS issue, and I didn't have Pennmom36's issue because I play on Windows 7 64 bit).
I wrote a 5 star review for it's 4th installment and see that several of the problems I had with it then still exist. As I said before, this series SHINES because of 2 of the puzzles offered... the ones with water, grass, stone & flowers that has moving items (an absolute blast), and the Labyrinth type puzzles. I wish they would make MOST of this series with those 2 types. Personally, I feel the 3rd type this game offers, The ORDINARY colored puzzles fall flat to the competition. (The colors are bla, not enough 3d appearance, and the mosaic pictures aren't detailed enough). So I'd either offer this series with only the 2 other types and do away with the ordinary mosaic, or really observe how the competition has truly perfect this type.
Please, please, label the what the picture is, if you are going to keep the ordinary type of puzzle.
This game series is set aside and above because of the innovative use of moving graphics and the maze type puzzles.
Because I buy and play this type of game so often, I would call myself an expert of them and even I had trouble with some of these grids. I would make some of the row numbers a higher increment (as FM does) because I would not suggest this series to newcomers to the genre. It is split into so many increments of 1, 2 and 3 that you have to stop every minute and switch the color/texture.
If these flaws were fixed, this could be the top of the Mosaic type of series, but because of the mentioned technical flaws it's falling a bit short for me now and it's not as fun as it could be.
I hope the DEV takes my suggestions to heart with the intent it was meant; to make this the best of it's type at BFG. It has SO much potential for a blue ribbon :)

First, I liked the innovative multi-colored and multi-textured squares in this game. And I liked that there are four modes of game play, including non-timed and custom. But there were a few major features that I did not like.
To start with, this game is designed for widescreen gaming. Unfortunately, I don't have that feature which means all the squares look like rectangles and the rest of the playing field is distorted and out of proportion. That's very distracting on the eyes and makes game play rather irritating.
I also don't like the cheap looking interface. One one hand we have the lovely backgrounds which use decent graphics. But then, the playing area is crudely hand drawn with fonts and graphics from the eighties.
Finally, when you're all done solving, the finished item is not labeled. Most of the time I knew what the object was, but at other times I had no idea what it was or how it pertained to the world's greatest cities.
These griddler/mosaic games are logic games geared for teens and adults. But for some reason the developers feel the need to use graphics designed for children. There is a sixth version of this game out there on other venues so I'll have to give that one a spin. Perhaps they ironed out a few things. Show less
I don't recommend this game.
