fromIn 1971 a psychological experiment went horribly awry after just 6 days when the subjects began to behave as if they were actually the person portrayed, either a Prisoner or a Prison Guard!

Jane Patrick is just an ordinary Math teacher who just put in a full and exhausting day at work. It's late, it's raining and visibility is poor so her senses are on high alert. Jane was prepared for just about anything, but what happens next. In the blink of an eye, Jane finds herself the victim of a maniacal and twisted experiment, when she awakens as a patient at the long-abandoned Mountain View Asylum. Run all you'd like Jane, but you'll never truly escape this Maze of Stolen Minds!
Finally! A decent game with no Gadgets Involved! You will, however, get to make "Choices" during your Maze experiences, such as Fight or Flight, if you make the wrong choice you'll have to play the scene again making the opposite choice. There is also a "Sanity Meter" at the top of the screen, which is simply an attempt to give the game a sense of urgency. The graphics at times seemed cartoonish, and there are a ton of logic fails that for me personally, somewhat took away from the realism, because some of them were just hilarious. Does a round pole fit inside a square opening? Why yes it does! Is there such a thing as vermin spray? Why yes there is! This place looks abandoned do you not see the man on the mower I'm speaking with? Apparently not!
The Hidden Object Scenes are not scarce, but in comparison to the massive number of mini-games, they do fall a bit short. They are typical HOP's for MHG, with the majority being Silhouetted Shape finds, but most are multi-layered with at least 2 different styles. There is Listed Item finds and Multiple Item finds, and several smaller Zoom-Zone HOP's to find 5-6 Silhouetted Shaped objects. One of my favorite HOP's was finding 12 "Monsters" in a dark scene with just a beam of light, I have to give kudos to these guys for making me jump several times during the game! In this Collector's Edition version, each HOP has a Morphing Object to find, some of which were not so easy to spot. If you forget to look for the Morph, you can go into the CE extra re-playable HOP's to pick them up.
The Mini-games are decent, but this game is extremely puzzle heavy, so if you aren't into mini-game puzzles, you probably won't like this game. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1-Turn all of the red lights green by turning the valves, 1 can affect others.
2-Click rapidly until the meter bar fills up.
3-Click when the small circle is inside the larger circle to abolish the ghosts.
4-Rotate the plates to allow the bar to slide, 1 can affect others.
5-Rotate discs to move tokens to their matching colored slots.
6-Click the hand rapidly to fill the meter.
7-Drag 4 rings to complete the image.
8-Use directional arrows to guide the raft and avoid obstacles.
9-Place torn map fragments into the correct highlighted spaces.
10-Swap the trophies until all lights turn green.
11-Select and drag wires the correct number of connections per node.
12-Place the knobs in their correct spaces based on color and shape.
13-Move the plates into their matching colored discs.
14-Click when the small circle is inside the large circle to abolish ghosts.
This Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 2 Concept Art pictures, 8 Character Gallery Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 20 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes-# 20 is the best, so play that one first! a Bonus Token Game and an Ultimate HOP (can collect HOP Morphs you missed) 10 Achievements to earn, 9 Wrong Choices option (shows you stats), 28 Scene Morphing Objects, 19 Hidden Object Morphs, 28 Hidden Brains, a Journal with Objectives, Clues and Time Played, 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a built-in Strategy Guide enjoy (hurry before they steal your mind too)

I would point out this game is quite challenging as far as its mini puzzles are concerned. Also, some hidden object scenes are dark, with some items being smaller or hidden behind others. These elements make it harder to complete hidden objects scenes without using the Hint button.
A great game, recommended for Advanced and Expert players! Show less

Gone game in a day similar to Maze 360. No demons, no spells, no tats, no potions to make.(so far) HAPPY, happy, happy player. :) The HOPS weren't easy either but fun. And in my psycho mind...(still crazy after all these years)..the flow was sensible and pretty fast paced. I loved it and played through to the end all day!

REVIEW BASED ON THE ENTIRE GAME
4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 43 Pages (This is a long game!)
OVERVIEW: A car accident lands you, Jane Patrick, into your worst nightmare. Awakening from the crash, find yourself imprisoned in the abandoned Mountain View Asylum. A mysterious masked man has informed you that you are now part of an experiment. It appears you are under the control of a mind-altering drug. As you suffer hallucinations and visions, you realize you are not the only one in this deserted building. Who is the man behind the experiments and why has he chosen you as part of his experiment? Can you escape in time and stop this mad scientist?
OPINION: This is another fantastic psychological thriller from Mad Head Games. The theme behind the game is one of mind control and a thought-provoking look at the boundaries of scientific research. How far should science go in its quest to unlock the human mind and control man’s basic instincts? The pace is excellent with plenty of activities to keep the player entertained. The graphics provide a creepy atmosphere to this game. The soundtrack for the game contributes somewhat to the scary ambiance as well. For me, this game is much better AFTER the demo. Mad Head saved all the goodies for the actual game.
MECHANICS: There are five levels of play including a customized version. There are ten (10) achievements to earn in this game, some with three parts. You collect twenty-eight (28) collectibles (brains). There are twenty-eight (28) morphing objects within the scenes and nineteen (19) morphing objects within the HOP scenes. An indicator on the inventory bar alerts you when a morphing object or collectible is within a scene. All the game scenes have one of each. You can replay all nineteen (19) HOP scenes. There are eight (8) wallpapers plus the usual concept art and musical selections. You also receive a sketch book of the characters from the game.
There is a bonus game (playing against the computer to get the most tokens), which can be played when you collect all the morphing objects. You have nine (9) choices to make in this game. Making the incorrect choice will force you to rethink that choice and play the scene again. There is an indicator at that end which indicates how many poor choices you made within the game – unfortunately, they indicate the lives that lives were lost with your decision. You can play an “ultimate HOP scene” after the game is finished.
HOP SCENES: There are nineteen (19) HOP scenes, all of which can be replayed. You can also return to locate those missing morphing objects, one within each HOP scene. There are several mini-HOP scenes in which you collect a small number of items. Most of scenes are lists of items. However, there are a few silhouette scenes. There is not a storybook scene per se; however, you will need to search for items in bold letters. In one clever scene, you must shut down a boiler by following instructions to locate gears, valves, and levers listed in bold letters. The final HOP scene in the bonus chapter is unique. It is a matching scene in which you must open compartments to find the matching items. I do feel the HOP scenes show creativity.
PUZZLES: There are thirty-nine (39) puzzles in the game. The puzzles are extremely easy in the first part of the game; however, they become more challenging toward the end of the game. There are also seven (7) puzzles in which you must “zap” hallucinations – ghosts which are not there. You must center crosshairs on each of the hallucinations to zap them. The puzzles vary in style. I almost did not purchase this game because of the lack of decent puzzles in the demo. However, I am glad I did. The puzzles are excellent within the main game and bonus chapter. I do wish I could replay some of these puzzles!
BONUS CHAPTER: I cannot ascertain if the bonus chapter is a prequel or sequel. However, the sheriff from the main game returns in this chapter to help you deal with another crazed scientist, Victor Hawkins. This evildoer is forcing all the staff at the asylum to breathe a gas which causes hallucinations. I feel the chapter is a decent length with a similar story to the main chapter with creative HOP scenes and excellent puzzles
SPOILERS: HERE IS A SAMPLE OF PUZZLES IN THE MAIN GAME AND BONUS CHAPTER:
A. Variation of a Match-3 puzzle. A clever variation in which you add tokens to the grid to get rid of a set of three or more tokens in direct contact with each other. Every token must be removed from the board. A unique and creative presentation of this standard puzzle.
B. Pattern puzzle. Switch colored buttons so they create a given design.
C. Maze puzzle. Rotate tokens and add three others from the outside to create a continuous path from end to the other. A unique and creative presentation of this standard puzzle.
D. Domino puzzle. Place domino-shaped plates with symbols on them so that the ends of the plates match up with the plate next to it. Slightly difficult.
E. Play the computer. Try to get more colored gem stones than the computer. Abutting a stone changes a stone to your color but then again, so is it for the computer as well. This is the bonus puzzle for the game.
BONUS CHAPTER:
F. Matching puzzle. Choose among many books on a bookcase to fill in a row of books by color and symbol.
G. Assembly puzzle. Move a sequence of numbers up-down and right-and-left (two at a time) until the numbers match those on a given sheet of paper

The morphs in these games, this one in particular, are particularly difficult--if I had any criticism is that they don't change quickly enough and are very hard to find. The soundtrack was appropriately creepy. If you liked the other Maze games, this one is one you'll want to play. I particularly liked the bonus game at the end. All in all I liked the Sheriff character best and once again I wish the developers would make the character I am playing either gender neutral or let me choose genders. These games are long, so you get your money's worth--and also very challenging--so don't take it on unless you don't mind devoting a lot of time to it. Show less
