I love playing jigsaw puzzles. I love playing them on my dining room table, a lapboard, or even better on my PC where I don’t need to worry about losing pieces that somehow end up chewed up by my pups or the vacuum cleaner. Although you can’t save the puzzles to your desktop there is an album in the program where you can see the puzzles displayed. Personally, I like my desktop clean with very few icons, so I rarely use different backgrounds or wallpapers. For me the joy in the 1001 puzzles is having a great variety of puzzles with super tools. I love the box where I can store my unused pieces until I am ready to pull them out. One of the best features in the game is the ability to change the number of pieces that comprise each puzzle so I have the ability for a quick solve if I only have a few minutes available to play, or to make a puzzle more challenging by selecting a higher number of pieces. For me 1001 Jigsaws World Tour Australia is everything I want and need in a great jigsaw puzzle game and I don’t need extra fluff to make the game any better than it already is.

The array of puzzles gives those of us who are “armchair travelers” a glimpse of a gorgeous country that has some of the most beautiful flora and fauna to be found. Although Australia has awesome architecture, I am most fond of the nature puzzles, but no matter what you are looking for in a puzzle I am sure there will be many available that will be what you want. 1001 Jigsaw World Tour Australia is a keeper for me and a game that I’m delighted to add to my inventory. This is an overall lovely game where you have hundreds of puzzles to choose from that highlight the beauty and culture of Australia including landmarks, wildlife, flora, and my favourite, pics of sea life along the great barrier reef.

The best thing about this series of puzzles is that you can modify each one to your liking. You can decide on the number of pieces you have, whether the pieces are rotational or not and my preference in choosing a ghost picture to show up behind your layout or not. Also it's important to note that when you place a puzzle piece correctly it locks into place. The music is very relaxing too.

There are a few pics of overly staged cheeky actors but not too many. But the real annoyance I have with this latest addition is the scrapbook page of kangaroos that is poised behind each layout and this is why I have deducted a star because I found it distracting. Show less

The 500 photos are of images that are generally at least somewhat related to Australia or travel/vacation, and are clear and highly colored. The connection with some of the pictures to Australia was tenuous at best, though, and I would have preferred more native landscapes. The gameplay, however, is solid; there are several options, including the ability to adjust the number of puzzle pieces, that make the game infinitely playable for all skill levels. I do recommend this game for those who find the Outback appealing, with the reservation that not all the pictures really fit. Show less

Here we go again, another featureless puzzle game that is exactly the same (except for the country) It didn't work on the last puzzle, or the one before that, or the 30 before that, so here I go again! Once you finish the puzzle you get to see a brief glimpse of the picture before it disappears forever, it's so brief that if you blink you will miss it! You can't save them as screensavers, you can't even revisit them in a gallery, but that shouldn't be a big shock, because these puzzles never have any cool or interesting option features. As long as they continue to spew out these games without making an attempt to offer features that avid puzzle geeks want, I will continue to ask for more, but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to say what features I'd like to see them change, so I guess they'll never be able to know what needs to be changed or be added, but if you change something...

In 1001 Jigsaw World Tour: Australia, you can choose puzzles from 5 different boxes that are uncategorized and have 100 puzzles available in each. You can also earn Trophies for reaching goals such as playing a certain amount of hours, joining up to a million pieces, scoring a certain amount of points, solving a puzzle without making a mistake, solving variously sized puzzles, or solving a puzzle without using hints, sorting, or pocket features. There are also Top Scores and personal Best score tallies.

Any of the puzzles can be modified with the number of pieces, the cut shape of the pieces and whether or not you want the pieces to rotate. There are 4 different backgrounds to choose from, pink, green, blue and grey, a box to store extra pieces until needed, a Sort option a Border only option, a Hint option, and an available Magnifying glass to enlarge pieces. You can also Ghost the image of the puzzle to the background or hang a picture in three different sizes.

The problem is that these are the EXACT same features that they offer in all of their puzzle games. In this puzzle series alone the average rating went from an impressive 4.0 to a 2.4, which tells me that puzzle geeks don't have a need to buy another puzzle by this dev if they bought the first one, and rightfully so because it's the same thing with none of the features puzzle geeks actually want! I guess they will just have to use ESP to know what puzzle fans would like to see changed in their games...if it changes, I'll be the first to hop on board.

BUT, these devs certainly missed the mark AGAIN!!! I went through all the categories and found not even one puzzle that sparked my interest. Everything, IMO, was extremely boring and lacking beautiful color. Not even a good sampling of the animals and birds that inhabit this awesome country. And with all the beauty Australia is blessed with, I am quite surprised at the poor selection of pics in ...Show more

Well, I will just stop here with complaining. I have been disenchanted with these devs for ages, but keep hoping to find some favorable changes "the next time". IMO, they don't even read our reviews and feedback should be very important to any company. But I guess these devs think they have no need of improvement.

I regret being unable to enjoy this puzzle collection. I would love to give it a shining review. But my opinions shouldn't discourage other puzzle lovers from at least trying the demo. Many of you, I am sure, will love what you see. And you certainly can't beat the price! Imagine the cost of 500 puzzles purchased in stores or on-line!! Check out the demo and see what you think, you may see beauty where I do not.
