This series follows Mia Faircroft, an antique restoration expert, on her adventures in various locations searching for precious artifacts as well as the history and personalities attached to them.

Though I did not review them, I have played the previous games in the Faircroft's Antiques series (Treasures of Treffenburg and The Heir of Glen Kinnoch) so I knew what to expect. What do I like about the series? Chiefly that it's clear there has been an actual effort to create several different characters, and to give each character a distinct personality as well as his/her own side story. There are no one or two-dimensional characters here. Now it's one thing to try, but another to succeed, and in this series the developers have succeeded. The characters in this series have far more depth than the typical HOP game that is offered. If that doesn't interest you, then you probably will not like this game or the others in the series.

That's because there isn't much else unique to this series. The HOPS and puzzles are fine. You will play four or five HOPs as well as one or two puzzles per "chapter" (there are many chapters). Nothing that you have not seen before. However, the various locations all tie into the story as well as the chapter. For that reason, I judge these to be among the best written games in this genre.

I will add that toward the end of the games, the story does sometimes drag a bit, as if to keep you in suspense about the ending. Also, and this is VERY IMPORTANT, each game in this series is best played in several sittings rather than straight through (I believe this could be the reason for some of the not-so-positive reviews). Because the games are longer than the typical HOPA, as well as the nature of the play, playing straight through could become somewhat tedious. Fortunately, it is easy to pick up where you left off, even if it's been a while.

I think this game, and the others in the series, are well worth your time and investment. You'll find yourself actually caring about the characters and how their situations are resolved. This is something the typical HOPA offering rarely, if ever, achieves.

I actually liked this game. There is a very good story line, and interesting puzzles. In the HO scenes you can even zoom in. I loved that feature.

I recommend this game!

Very good, and I’m getting used to the interminable dialog. This actually redeems the series, helped in large part in that they finally came up with a good story line, mystery and lovely Italian scenery and art; a good reason to read all that dialog!

It sounds like this is the end, but I hope this developer doesn’t give up on this combination of little bit soap opera, mystery, classic art and hidden objects. Oh wait, what happened to the mysterious stranger and friend of Gian? Was that just a red herring? Or was it in the CE?
This is my favorite of the four stories, and it was perfect as an SE Show less

I've really enjoyed the previous Faircroft's for their unique images and hints/clues that are different from what I've come to expect from most of the other hidden object games from Big Fish. I suspect there is a more European slant to it. It makes some of the hints harder to figure, but not impossible. I suspect there is a more European slant to it. It makes some of the hints harder to figure, but not impossible. The dialog that people complain about can be distracting, but on the other hand it adds a human interaction dimension that a lot of games don't have. Granted, some of it is a little cheesy and I didn't like some of the family arguments. Still, I had a lot of fun playing the game and will keep on buying Faircroft's games. Show less

It's Called "Skip"

For all of those who complained about too much dialogue....There is a little feature called "skip."

Use it.

These games are just as fun as they've always been. If you don't like the dialogue, or think there's too much, then you haven't played Faircroft's other games because they're all exactly the same way.

It's very easy. Use the skip feature and have zero dialogue.

I recommend this game!

It would be a fantastic HOG if they would just stop interrupting the HO scenes mid-stream with more dialog, it's way too much dialog before every scene as it is but when it brings back memories of..."We Interrupt the Regularly Scheduled Program to Bring You this Important Message" it's pretty annoying! It's just a HOG, not a visual novel?

While I'm at it I would also love to see more appropriate, non-stock hidden objects. The chapel is filled with dartboards, bats, ducks, etc. why not make the game more authentic by adding items that you may expect to see in each scene. The Ladybug was larger than the guinea pig so if you really want to impress fans, adjust the sizes as well or choose different objects in each scene that are size proportionate.

I'm very happy with the mini-games because for the first time they actually work! The one where you match antique coins was pretty fun because you could only match coins that were not covered by another coin.

The CE version only seems to offer 5 extra levels and a few more mini-games so I do recommend this SE version over the CE version.

This was not the best. I would welcome more Faircroft's adventures, but Treffenburg and Glen Kinnoch were superior to this effort. Even Mia's home for Christmas, while not the best was better,

Graphics were good but couple of scenes were dark and hard to tell.
I got this game only because I had a free game, I needed to use otherwise it expired the day I got it.
Try it first then see if you like it or you want to get nostalgic. Show less
