A secret game finally found

I didn't know this game existed for ages and stumbled across it by accident looking for a new game to play. I find it to be a good, fun game. I didn't know this game existed for ages and stumbled across it by accident looking for a new game to play. I find it to be a good, fun game. It's a HOPA game; difficult to find items at times but you have a magnifying glass to help you and a "dog" for a hint that refills fairly quickly. You need to find your aunt's journal pages (so far, before buying it, I only found one but I will continue my search). In each scene, you look for a certain amount of objects like butterflies, lizards, and such. After you find them all, you will be a list of objects to find. The magnifier helps you find them as does the dog hint.

This was a hidden treasure of sorts as I LOVE HOS and easy HOPA's (my vision is poor but these are my favorite). I enjoyed the story line of you inheriting your aunt's old mansion and looking for scene to scene which you move to on your own. No map. But not difficult to maneuver around.

I find this to be a game for non-expert players but those who want an easy game. Even intermediates might find it kind of un-challenging but I am enjoying it. I got it on a sale day for under $4. A nice change from dark, spooky, dreary games. Show less

Enjoyed finding objects from an old house and it's huge garden. Brings back great memories. Took me awhile to figure out how to maneuver in the house, (turn the lights on), as I am a beginner, but so glad I continued pursuing on. I like the magnification and variety of Inventory used. Well designed. Wish there was more games like it.

The graphics are sharp, clear, and very nicely done. The music is unobtrusive and fit the theme of the story. There are no voice-overs which is fine with me. I would rather have a game with no voice overs than with poor ones.

The graphics are sharp, clear, and very nicely done. The music is unobtrusive and fit the theme of the story. There are no voice-overs which is fine with me. I would rather have a game with no voice overs than with poor ones.

The story has you playing a young woman who has just inherited an old home which she visited once as a child. She arrives at the estate and, while walking through all the rooms, she reminisces nostalgically about her time there. She also discovers a mystery that she must solve by finding hidden journal entries and tablet pieces.

Game play is very like earlier HO games in that it centers on a map of the estate and you select various locations on the map to visit. Each location has a HO and opens to several other places there that you can visit before returning to the main map. Each of those is also a HO.

The HO rewards you with an inventory item that you can use in another location to unlock further areas to explore. You also occasionally receive a tool which goes into your pack. These act as inventory items do but, once used, they return to your pack so you can use them throughout the game.

The HOS themselves are beautifully drawn and can be quite challenging. They feature a zoom similar to that seen in IPad games and it adds an extra dimension to the search. Even in the zoom view the graphics are very sharp. I think the developer meant for some items to require the zoom and it serves the same kind of purpose as those games that have a dark room you search with a flashlight. It adds to the challenge and made this game different than others of its kind.

The one thing I would have liked to see done differently is that the journal pages you receive arrived in sequential order. Receiving them out of order forced me to wait almost to the end of the game to really be able to get the whole gist of the mystery. Even with that though I found the game very enjoyable and a welcome change from the tedious too and fro activity seen in many HOPA games right now.

Overall this is a very well made game and people who like doing HOS should give it a try. The inventory component is very light and the HOS component is nicely challenging. I purchased it after the trial and had fun with it all the way to the end. Show less

I like this game. It took me a little bit to understand the layout and where I was supposed to go to next. Once I stopped and saw what it is that I needed to do, it was really fun. I would like to play another.

This review is based just on the trial. You have inherited this property, which you remember as a little girl, but of course it has changed. Your basic page ("The Garden"# is your map, from which you go to various areas and structures. In eacj scene you have a two-part HOP: first you find 10 of one thing, and then another ten different named things, one of which will go into inventory. The story is told through pages of your late grandmother's diary, and I can't evaluate it yet, having only found one page. But presented that way, you can't forget where you are #as I sometimes do when I leave a game and don't come back for days or weeks# - the story to the point you are at is always there in the diary pages, and probably doesn't affect your choice of what to do next.

The objects are small, but there is a magnifier feature which really helps, unless the object is somewhere really dark. I was not getting frustrated looking. The hint button is a cartoon-y dog who will bother many, especially since the recharge sound is "Woof, woof, woo-f" with a speech balloon.

As I said, I am not far enough in the story line to comment on it, but I am curious enough to come back, although it may be a while.

I could not recommend it to adventure gamers, especially hard-core ones, but for a straight hidden object game it is quite good. Show less

Basically you have just inherited your Aunt Selma's beautiful estate, well at least that's how you remember it from the summer you spent there when you were just a kid. You choose which location you want to search such as the kitchen garden, or gazebo and then you click on the magnifying glass to zoom into a section, and then you can click and drag the scene up and down back and forth, searching sections for the listed inventory items. Before you can access the list, you will have to find multiples of a single item such as 10 tomatoes or 12 butterflies. You will come across items that have been damaged and you will find fragments throughout the game such as 16 pages of Aunt Selma's diary, or 14 table fragments. If you can overlook some archaic style features and don't mind dragging the scene all over the place, then you just might like this game. Show less

after straining my eyes for about 10 or 15 min, I uninstalled.
Too tiring for these old eyes. When you keep staring and can't tell what the objects are, the 'ol eyes get tired and dry and then you just want to give up and go to bed.

I don't recommend this game.
