Poor Mr. Penguin and his family have been sucked through a portal to another world, and they need our help to find their way back home! As with the other 8 FM's, every step you take in the game will help the Penguin family explore this new world, and help them find a way back home (yes, this game has an actual storyline)
This is a griddler or mosaic type game where you fill in and cross of cells on various sized grids, using logic. There are groups of numbers located on each column and row of the grid, each group of numbers must be separated by at least one blank or crossed off cell, using logic. Sometimes it's easier to figure out where numbers can't possibly fit to reduce the amount of cells and narrow the playing field down a bit. Some cells contain bonuses such as extra hints, extra mistakes allowed or an extra pickaxe which allows you to choose which cell you want a hint on.
The one feature that makes Fantasy Mosaics stand out from the rest of the griddler games, is the vibrant array of colors available. It can also help you solve the puzzle when you get stuck, because you can switch to another color which ultimately narrows down the available cells. These pictures actually make sense because they have three different colors you know what image you have created, peppers, clovers, eclipse, and even Alice in Wonderland!
If you make no mistakes, you will earn a Gold Trophy regardless of the time it takes to complete the puzzle, a Silver Trophy is earned if you make one mistake, and a Bronze Trophy is earned if you make 2 mistakes. You can replay the grid as often as you want in order to improve your score. This series is one of the best available, and certainly the most colorful. This is a must have game for griddler geeks and an immediate purchase for this geek! Show less

One of the best nonogram games that I've ever played!
These games make you think while you're enjoying the game.
Some levels are simple, some levels have more challenge and generally everything is very cool.
I recommend this game!

The Fantasy Mosaic games are my favorite games in this category and I am always eagerly awaiting the next one. Beginning with game 4 in the series, the boards were offered in multi-colored levels that not only improved the quality of the game but became a very useful feature for the trickier levels.
I have said it before but, IMHO, these puzzles are the best of the best. The addition of the color options raised the bar by making the grids not only gorgeous but functional as well. Not only are the grid graphics colorful, they are exceptionally crisp and clear. The background graphics are awesome and I look forward to each new level to see what new scenes the devs have created. The overall sound package creates an almost “Zen” like experience as I can relax and get lost in solving the puzzles. Many times when the hustle and bustle of real life seems a bit stressful, I know that I can relax and wind-down by playing a few of the grids.
We have a few tools that do help when absolutely stuck with no idea of where to go next and the first of those is the hint button. The hint button recharges according to the number of cells you happen to fill. The next tool is the pick-axe that will fill a particular cell, and lastly is the sunburst that will fill several surrounding cells in an area.
I have been waiting weeks for the new Fantasy Mosaics 9 to be released so when I saw it this morning it was an instant purchase for me. As I begin to fill each board I enjoy the fun of trying to guess what the resulting image may be. I happen to prefer the ease of playing these games in casual mode, where the unused cells automatically fill as you complete the required number of cells for each row or column. As I mentioned earlier, the ability to switch from one color to another is very helpful with determining where a specific color should go when the boards get tricky.
Anyone who loves these logic type puzzles is sure to enjoy the Fantasy Mosaic games, and I highly recommend them but, as always, I suggest that you try the game for yourself to see if you agree. Show less

Another installment to the Fantasy Mosaics.
These are great little puzzles, especially with the color change.
My only complaint is that the Fantasy Mosaic games for Mac do not allow for the use of the "sun" tool. Kind of a bummer, but not enough of an issue to stop me from owning them all!
Great game overall.
I recommend this game!

• Auto-fill for the unused spaces
• Colored screens - 3 for most games
• Items are given to help you throughout the game - such as a pickax
• You are accountable for mistakes and must start over if you have too many
• If like normal games for this dev grids from 10 X 10 to 25 X 25
• If like past games - approximately 100 puzzles
• Nice relaxing "muzac." Got me in the mood to do some yoga and get into a meditative state! LOL
This is the "champagne" dev for these games and I have been looking forward to this dev's game for such a long time. THANK YOU BFG!!! This game is an automatic purchase for me WOW! Two "griddler," "nonogram," "Ekaki," "Paint-by-Number," or if your prefer "PIc-a-Pix" games this week! SO NICE! Show less

A couple days ago we were given a rather dismal nonogram called Sherlock 2. It certainly pales in comparison to Match Gems offering of Fantasy Mosaics 9. The former uses one color, an army green while FM provides vibrancy with its tri-color motifs. Sherlock has no story to tell while we learn at the beginning that the penguin family needs to get through a portal to find their way home. Granted from then on there isn't much of a story, but at least we are given the task at hand. As is always the case in MG's, no hand holding. The second grid is a 15 x 15 and there are some challenging grids early on. In FM9 we also know what the completed picture is by verbal identification, something Sherlock fails to do.
I do wish that Match Gems would slow down a bit with their production and consider a different story. The penguins are cute but for me I want a new story. MG still is the best in the business with grid games and anybody considering a purchase within the genre shouldn't look any further than the Fantasy series starting with game 4 which is the initial offering featuring 3 color grids.

Graphics are amazing! Each game in the series seems to increase the level of graphics they use. Sound okay. Music --- some may find it annoying but I did not. You choose.
The game play is the same as always. 3 colors. Using the numbers on the sides and top/bottom of the graph either fill in a block with a color or an 'x' . After you are finished using all the numbers ..... a picture emerges! You can also earn bronze, silver or gold .... depending on how well you do. I always go for the gold!
I think this game is great for every level of experience as the tutorial is well-done for beginners. It is for of challenge, fun and entertainment! Thank you DEVS for another great FM game!!!!!!
