This game seems simple, yet can be surprisingly challenging. You place tiles in horizontal or vertical rows by matching either color or item, and while you can get in a Zen groove doing that, you've also got to keep moving, as the squares that you've turned to coins will revert back to plain squares if you dawdle too long. The music is outstanding and so very peaceful. (Generally I turn the music off on games because it's usually annoying and repetitious, so this is a nice change for me.) Love the quotations from Lao Tsu, which remind me of what's important in life. Graphics are pleasant but not outstanding, but I think that adds to the gentle, meditative quality of the game. I have owned this little game for a while and often return to it at the end of a long and difficult day. You can see from the filesize that the game is fairly straightforward, without a lot of fancy graphics and whizbangs, or any real storyline. On-screen directions are clear and easy to understand, as is the game itself. That easy understanding, though, can be deceptive and clearing the board grows progressively more difficult at higher levels. Quiet, Eastern-derived music accompanies gameplay, and excerpts from the Tao te Ching of Lao Tzu are presented at various points, in between clearing the boards. I find this game to be soothing and meditative, while presenting just enough challenge to me to keep it interesting. Show less

This is a nice little basic game with no bells or whistles. For me it's kinda like a cross between a Sudoku and a match 3. Here you get to select from different items in different colors to fill in the squares. Generally there are 4 objects in 4 different colors. You can fill the squares with either one of the 4 colors, or 1 of the 4 like objects; across or up and down. Once you have filled that row or column it changes to a coin. When all the squares are filled with coins then the game moves on to another board to be filled.
It's a fast paced little game. The graphics are only nice sketches, done in an oriental theme. The music is relaxing, again in a zen-like oriental theme. All and all it's pretty fun, different, and interesting.
I played 16 levels in the one hour demo. I can't find anything really wrong with this game, except...that's all there is. It would be easy to get bored with this game rather quickly. It took a little time to get into the "game-play"; but, once I got into the grove it was pretty fun.
Not really a buy for me. But, my compliments to BF for offering something truly different and interesting. It really reminds me of the basic computer games I used to play in the 90's. I can easily see how some people could get lost in this game and play it for hour after hour. You should try it and see if it's a good fit for you. Show less

Four Houses an interesting game of strategy involving items AND color.
The graphics are nice, though nothing earth-shattering here as it is the game board you concentrate on. The music is typical Oriental in nature. No real sound effects and no voice overs.

There are 2 modes of difficulty - Journey (which is generally "relaxed" and tells a story) and Timed. Interestingly enough, the only "journey" you go on is the path you take on a map of dots to mark your game progress. The ONLY "story" being told is ........... nothing. Each level begins with a nice little Chinese proverb. That DOES NOT a story make - IMO.
Game play is interesting. You start off with 4 different items, each having 1 of each color (red, green and blue). You goal is to turn the tiles to "used" by making rows of either like items or like colors (any item). Later on, as you level up, you'll get different items (never more than 4 at a time) but no different colors (at least not up to level 28, where the demo ended for me).
There are obstacles as you level up. Nothing too awful. There are no bonuses, except for earning additional lives.
It was an okay game. I am not into strategy games. I do, however, encourage everyone to try the demo, as it is a "different" sort of game play.
