The Order of the Barons have received a garbled message from Volarden, a neighboring city, pleading for the Order's help. The Order of the Barons are no stranger to oppression, the barons were captured by the Master of Shadows, and the entire city of Havenwick was sealed inside an impenetrable dome for nearly 20 years! The Shadows have struck again, using the Volarden's own defense shields against them, pitting good brother against evil brother! You must stop the Vulture, Master of Shadows before Volarden is consumed by the darkest of magic, forever!
The power of good magic is on your side, with the help of a powerful amulet, you'll be able to conquer just about any problem you come across. The Amulet gets stronger with each spell cast, Restora repairs broken objects, Combusta creates a small flame, Germina makes plants grow and Electra charges objects with electricity! Once you arrive in Volarden, you will find the Scroll of Secrets, which reveals 30 hidden rune symbols within each scene, and also tells you a little tidbit of information about the city. The city also has a portal that when activated, allows you to walk between the real world and a parallel universe which is basically the same place, only darker. You will have to travel back and forth, using items from one parallel in the other.
The Hidden Object Scenes have several types available, with a unique feature that requires you to use some of the inventory items you have collected within the scene by switching between the inventory tab and the object tab. There are FROG's which is several fragmented object pieces to find, and interactive list finds as well. Some of the scenes are repeated in the same exact area which is my only complaint, it's way too easy and boring a second time around, even when it's a different type of HOP.
I must admit that I fell in love with the mini games, and they are in abundance. Whenever you find a new symbol that allows you to repair your broken amulet (yes, they always break after the first use) you play a mini game. The same game is repeated each time, but get more complicated as you progress. There are several red masks that must be turned yellow using 2 or three copper symbols with specific directional arrows, to cover all of the masks in each direction. Other puzzles requires you to use magnets to either repel or attract gems into their correct slots, another requires you to drag red stars with lines connecting each red star across every blue star to light them all up. One of my favorite puzzles was putting all blue takens on the left and all red tokens on the right, using arms on each row and column to nudge each token one space at a time. All of the puzzles are doable, some of them are just more time consuming then others,
This Collector's Edition has 5 Soundtracks and Videos, 12 Concept Art pictures, 6 Wallpapers in the Art Gallery, 30 Hidden Runes, 20 Mini Games, 17 Hidden Object Puzzles, 20 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less
I recommend this game!

The demo seemed short, and I am not buying until I get a sale, so I am mostly writing to alert players about something that was bugging me, but I figured it out.
At first, I did not like what seemed to be non-responsive objects. Usually in these games, when you try to use an object and it is not the right one, one and/or two things happen. Either the object floats back to the inventory area, or you get a message (and yes, I know, sometimes the messages seem aggravating or condescending) that you have done the wrong thing. This game does neither. And it seems that you have to carefully replace the item back in the inventory area or it is stuck to your cursor. I was going to gripe about it as detracting from the playability of the game.
But then, I thought of something. I went back in to the game (I’m glad I had left five minutes on the clock) and tried right clicking when I had an inventory item in my hand. Voila! It floated back down to the inventory area. Great system, but maybe they should have told me that in the tutorial? I was playing with the full tutorial on, and I don’t remember them saying that.
My opinion of the game during the demo:
I really like some of the music and really dislike some of the rest. The graphics are clear and the world is pretty, but not very detailed once you go through the portal, in particular. It’s like maybe another artist drew it. That’s not necessarily bad, though.
I am unsure about the story. It makes sense, but things don’t necessarily seem to be happening in the right order or at the right pace, or something. For example, at the beginning, I kept feeling as if I needed to LEAVE the bedroom and follow mom. She had seemed quite insistent that I needed to do something important, so why am I dawdling in the bedroom and messing with the fireplace? But it was obvious I had to do something there. Then, dad ( guess it was dad) left using the portal, but after that, apparently it turns out the portal malfunctioned. (I sure hope dad's ok!) At this point, I decided not to even try to make sense of the story, and it went better after that. Somewhat challenging actions are required, but they are not too hard to figure out.
The puzzles are great. One I ended up having to go to the guide for. That shows you, though, that it was an interesting puzzle. If I wasn’t, I would have just skipped it. The HOS are different, also. Some require you to use inventory items to solve them. Fun. Much better than the average HOS.
The demo was so short and the game played pretty seamlessly. Therefore, although I got the map, I never needed it or looked at it. So I cannot give you any details about it.
I will get the CE for this game because there is a bonus and also the ability to replay mini games and HOS. There don’t seem to be collectibles or morphing objects or achievements, but that’s OK with me because I don’t care about those things, anyway. The game is entertaining, and there are enough useful features for me to buy the CE.
Give it a try. Show less
I recommend this game!

REVIEW BASED ON THE FRIST 3 CHAPTERS OF THE ACTUAL GAME - 5 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER
You play a fledgling heroine to the rescue from an evil wizard in the city of Volarden . This is a game full of magic with spells generated by a powerful amulet. This is a DECENT game - well worth the discounted price. The graphics are cartoon-like; the story is engaging ; the game is well-paced with many activities.
INVENTORY: Puzzle-like - Must use inventory items and amulet spells in the HOP scenes
HOP SCENES: All are interactive lists of items with the exception of one silhouette in the demo - which is used to provide your amulet of power. You must use items in your inventory and abilities from your amulet in the scenes.
PUZZLES: Most vary from easy to moderately difficult. Most are variations of switch puzzles physics puzzles, slide puzzles, manual dexterity puzzles, painting puzzle, moving tiles puzzle, maze puzzle. Quite a variety of puzzles and difficultly levels as well! Each time you receive a new ability - you must play a variation of a switch puzzle which becomes more difficult with each ability you receive.
LEVELS:
Casual ( Sparkles, No penalties for HOP scenes),
Advanced (Sparkles, Penalties for HOP scenes),
Expert (No Sparkles and Penalties for HOP scenes)
No ability to customize the game.
EXTRAS:
Map
20 Achievements
Collect 5 spells to add to your amulet to give you abilities - Electra (energy) Germina (Green thumb to grow plants) Restora (repairs broken objects) , Combusta (creates a flame to ignite).
Strategy guide - 56 PAGES
Collect 30 Runes
Soundtrack - Art - Mini games - HOP scenes
This what I call a "CE-lite" game, and like most "lite" refreshments - it has some of the "taste" of a CE game but missing some ingredients and " extras" (razzle-dazzle- WOW moments) to make it a true CE. You cannot customize your game and the graphics are one-dimensional. However, there is an "enchanting" element to this game. The variety of activities make it an interesting game. You go back and forth between the city and the alternate world of Shadows! It definitely keeps you hopping.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFO ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES:
HOP SCENES: All the same except for the first one. All are interactive lists of items to find with the exception of the first one in the demo which is a silhouette to create your magic amulet. A HOP lover's dream
PUZZLES: You must use your inventory items in the HOP scenes.
A. Variation of a physics puzzle - crossing lines. Rotate lines so that they pass through every blue star 3 X - increasing in difficulty EASY TO MODERATE DIFFICULTY
B. Variation of a switch puzzle. Switch red tokens with blue ones. EASY
C. Variation of a switch puzzle. throughout the game. Change face tiles from red to yellow using copper tokens which change the colors of the tiles. It is used to provide your amulet with abilities EASY TO MODERATE DIFFICULTY
D. Variation of a slide puzzle. Move magnets to push gems into matching slots Manual dexterity game. I FOUND THIS GAME A LITTLE TRICKY USING THE MAGNETS
AFTER THE DEMO:
E. Variation of a painting puzzle. Paint squares on a circular mosaic so that no two colors touch each other. MODERATELY DIFFICULT
F. Variation of a moving tile game - moving locks out of the way to get a key EASY to MODERATELY DIFFICULT
G. Variation of moving tiles puzzle - Place planets in correct order - including our LOVEly planet - Puto EASY
H. Variation of a maze puzzle MODERATELY DIFFICULT

I like the different dimensions!
Fun twist on collectables
Some different twists, on games, doesn't hold your hand, had to use the guide to continue, very rare for me!
Bonus game is a continuation of the game, not a watered down version of the main chapters.
Con's:
The runes are not numbered and nothing happens with them except for an achievement. Was really fun to figure out how to find them though!
Really great game for a special price and a rainy afternoon.
I can't wait to replay!
I would recommend giving the demo a try! Show less

A lot of the game was spent jumping between the real and shadow realms, making it a little more interesting.
Lovely graphics, voice-overs and cut-scenes.
You had runes to collect through the game, but if you missed any there was no way of looking for them at the end.
Achievements were very basic, and again no way of getting them at the end.
Hidden object games were slightly interactive, but involved using both inventory items and amulet which made things more interesting.
Puzzles were pretty easy and nothing really new.
Bonus chapter was a follow on but separate story to main.
Had a few hiccups with the bonus game, but got there in the end.

Join forces with other Barons of Havenwick and defeat evil Razaroth before it’s too late in this exciting follow up to Shrouded Tales: The Spellbound Land! But firstly you will have to reveal Razaroth’s true identity! He was put in jail in Volarden long ago and guarded by his brother, a great magician. But then Razaroth’s shadows freed him from his chains; sneaky he attacked brother, imprisoned him instead of himself and uses his shapeshifting ability to look exactly like him! So now Razaroth is ruling the Volarden and his shadows punishing everyone trying to stop his reign. You, Archibald, Alexander and your mother Elizabeth will have to use all your talents to defeat him and restore order! Whether you ignore the graphic effects or your whole existence is devoted to design and graphics of Hidden Object, Adventure computer games, you can't stay indifferent to the tremendous videosequence of Shrouded Tales 2: Revenge of Shadows Collector's Edition. In this edition there are undreamt-of tasks for you as you go on your main mission. Even though the use of an amulet is a repeated theme from similar adventures, this epic game is truly an atmospheric experience I enjoyed from the commencement to the galvanic conclusion. I highly recommend both!!! Show less
