The two of you grew up together and have become best friends, you must do whatever it takes to stop Isa's evil plans!

Fortunately for you, Princess, your Nanny's mother was from The Black Unicorn Kingdom where gargoyles hide and protect secrets. To charge this magical mirror you must find all 6 hidden gargoyle symbols, and the secret will be revealed. There are complex inventory items that require further interaction before using the item, Achievements to earn and 24 Collectible Stamps or wax seals. When you find all 24 you will unlock the bonus chapter.

The Hidden Object Scenes are Interactive list finds, as well as finding items in pairs. The only complain I have is that the scenes are repeated which I think is very boring. The Mini Games are decent, but nothing really new, moving gems into slots using each gems available directional arrows to guide the gems using other gems as bumpers, selecting symbols in the correct order, and my favorite game was jumping Unicorns until only one remains, you can jump up, down, sideways and even diagonally.

This Collector's Edition has 9 Wallpapers, 9 Concept Art pictures, 4 Screensavers, 24 Collectible Stamps, Music, 14 Achievements, replayable Hidden Object Puzzles and Mini Games, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure, enjoy! Show less

BASED ON THE FIRST 3 CHAPTERS OF THE GAME – THE GAME HAS 5 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER

It is a gathering of pretty princesses this week at BFG and we are off to Fairytale Land to attend some royal weddings – or perhaps not! You play a princess to the rescue of Adele, another princess from a neighboring kingdom from a disastrous marriage. It is a sugary sweet fairytale come to life which should appeal to both children and adults. The graphics are beautiful as usual for this dev. There is a nice balance between puzzles and HOP scenes, and the puzzles are varied. Most of the puzzles are easy but in the demo I encountered two which were moderately difficult. If you like fairy tale games, you will love this game. And, of course, this would not be an ERS game without some of their menagerie of animals. In the background you can hear a cat or peacock screeching and the howling of a wolf. Hurry! Your friend is about to up married to an evil wizard under the influence of an evil force out to gain control of her kingdom.

AFTER THE DEMO THE GAME IS BETTER. The HOP scenes are more creative in the actual game and they are puzzle-like and very well done. The puzzles include another checkers style of puzzle which I found enjoyable. I will replay some of the puzzles and HOP scenes. This game has a variety of HOP scenes and puzzles to make it enjoyable to play – even for adults!

HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are better in the actual game. They contain some creative elements. They include matching, a fairy tale book relaying the story containing sentences with items in BOLD letters, lists of items to locate, cryptic clues, and replacement of items back into the scenes.

PUZZLES: To me, the puzzles are the most creative part of the game. They are varied with some puzzles which are slightly difficult. They include variations of moving tiles puzzles, Simon Says, and target practice against gargoyles. My favorite was a checker game which uses unicorns in place of checkers. This was slightly more difficult. In the actual game you play a Match 3 game plus another variation of checker puzzle to cover a board which I also enjoyed.

INVENTORY: Somewhat interactive and puzzle-like

GRAPHICS: Beautiful with muted colors. The characters are realistic and the story seems like a fairy tale book come-to-life. This dev is best known for their amazing graphics.

You receive a mirror which you must recharge with locating gargoyle figures. Use it on red figures of gargoyles to find items you need, to get information, or to open portals.

HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE:

HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are interactive and somewhat puzzle-like. Many of the scenes are reused. However, the scenes are varied throughout the game.

A. Matching. Like Noah's Ark - remove similar items two by two.
B. Story book. Given clues through sentences with words highlighted in BOLD letters as the items to locate
C. List of items to locate finally providing an inventory item
D. List of items to locate to create a potion. You must interact with the items before you can eliminate them from the list.

After the demo::

F. Locate items to dress a knight. A little unique
G. Locate a specific number of an item – knights
H. Cryptic sentences with items to be located in BOLD LETTERS
I. Replace item back into the HOP scene. Learn the anatomy of a dragon by replacing his bones!

This is the 5th game in the Spirits of Mystery series and it's great. Great storyline, easy hops and puzzles I really enjoyed this game a lot!

Based on Demo, seems like a good game. The story is self supporting, so you do not have to have played the former games to understand what is going on. It is similar in style as the rest of the Spirits of mystery, and the graphics are colorful and a nice quality (don't let the graphics on the icon fool you, they are not the watercolor style but much more crisp and likeable). Visual excellent, conform this kind of games have to be.

Great game with lot's of puzzles to solve and great story to enjoy! The art is great and all hidden object sections are really well designed and put together.
It's rather on the short side but still enjoyed it a lot!

I really enjoyed playing the game. It was compelling and fun. Yes similar storyline to the others but it is a series so I would expect that.

In Chains of Promise the latest game in the Spirits of Mystery series we encounter some familiar faces, among them the ever present nanny and the evil wizard Isa. As our tale begins Isa is back to his conniving ways as he promises a grieving king that he will save the king’s dying daughter if the king will grant him any wish. Fast forward many years and the now grown daughter, Princess Adele, is betrothed to marry none other than the court advisor Isa. You have received an invitation to Adele’s wedding and must now journey to the Black Unicorn kingdom to attend but while traveling you read a note from Adele begging you to prevent the marriage. And thus our tale of intrigue begins.

This game comes to us from one of my favorite development teams that always include awesome and beautiful hand drawn artwork in its games. The thing I have noticed about this game and with others in the series is that many of the characters are recycled from previous games but if you haven’t played the other games in the series then you won’t notice the familiarity. In Chains of Promise the developer offers us four modes of gameplay: Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom. If you select the custom mode you can set your hints to recharge virtually as quickly as you like with a range from 5 to 200 seconds and the same range applies to skipping puzzles. The sound track is very good and I happen to love the signature theme music from the Bunny Team that is present in all of their games. As always the voice-overs are excellent and we once again have lip-synced characters. Chains of Promise has 5 chapters for the main game and then we have the bonus game.

Unfortunately the tools include what is becoming another of this team’s signature pieces, a mirror that when filled with power is used to reveal that which is hidden. I don’t know when the message will get through that many of us dislike these types of items or gimmicks included in our games. The other useful tool is our transporter type integrated map that is found at the beginning of the game.

The HOPS are vintage and do require some interaction. At least during the demo I didn’t find any of the progressive type where we must find one thing and then use it to find another and so on. Those happen to be my least favorite so I am quite happy with what I have encountered thus far in the game. I will say that most of the puzzles were easy but one of them seemed a bit trickier than usual and perhaps it was only because I was rushing a bit and didn’t want to think about the puzzle too long. In my experience the puzzles that the Bunny Team includes in its games become progressively more difficult as we move further along so I know that there will be some challenge ahead.

Although this is a game that I like to call CE light, I guess it really boils down to a matter of personal opinion as to whether you want to purchase the CE or wait for the SE release. Impatient creature that I am, I always find it hard to wait particularly when there is a game from one of my favorite developers. For those of you who want to know, the game has 22 collectible stamps to find, achievements to earn, movies, wallpapers, concept screensavers, music, mini-games, and HOPS, the in-game strategy guide and the bonus gameplay.

As is the case with many other BFG members, I have been playing HOPA games for years and I first acquired this love of the genre and cut my teeth on games from the Bunny Team. I have found most of their games to be very enjoyable and wrapped in a package that presents everything I look for in a game. I have to admit that as seasoned as I am in finding my way around in HOPA games, Chains of Promise was a bit of a challenge because it was not always apparent what I needed to do next to move forward. For many the game will be considered very easy but I happen to love the level of challenge that is just right for the way I like to play. I play HOPA games to relax and unwind so I don’t enjoy playing a game that I might find frustrating. Chains of Promise is just right for me and given the package of beautiful graphics, relaxing music, fun gameplay, great storyline, and wonderful puzzles and HOPs, it is everything I want in a game. Who knows, maybe this time we will finally get rid of Isa – lol. Although the game was an instant buy for me, as always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy.
