For a Standard Edition, this game is quite impressive because of the very creative puzzles and Hidden Object Scenes! Mrs. Maisy is a Child Psychologist who is trying to find out why several children from the local orphanage have gone missing. All of these children were complaining about recurring nightmares, all of the nightmares seem to have a stranger wearing a hat. A troubled young boy named Denny, somehow seems to know about the other kids nightmares, and once you fall asleep, you discover this strange phenomenon as well, because you're there too!
The computer generated graphics are actually pretty decent, and the game mechanics seem to be flawless. There aren't any bells and whistles available, but the characters have voices and you get to choose the dialog questions you want to know about. Towards the end of the demo, Denny will join you as the Hint Icon, replacing your character as the hint system.
There are only a couple of Hidden Object Scenes during the demo, but I found them to be somewhat different and entertaining. The HOP I thought was the most interesting was finding several kids drawings, and using those drawings as a reference to assemble the toys they drew.
The Mini Games were very cool! 1) Guiding a satellite through every square without getting stuck 2) Using class roll call cards of the kids who were Present or Absent, and a class photo showing the seating arrangement, to check off the list of student names who were present or absent for each of the school days shown. 3) Assemble a hurdy-gurdy in the correct order as shown by a blue outline, 4) Moving items around a suitcase to uncover the hand fan, but the items have to fit in the exact grid spaces they came out of, items cannot overlap. 5) my favorite Mini Game was placing parts onto several sticks to recreate a figure shown as a silhouette.
Kudo's to the developers on this game which is worthy of a credit or cold hard cash, enjoy! Show less

This really annoys me, and other gamers who want straight HO games. This is not an HO game, and the games that are in the adventure category are all time management games, so this really needs to be looked at, and updated. But this game is for gamers who love adventure with lots of challenge and puzzles, so I loved it. Show less

Very briefly, you grew up an orphan and went on to become a child psychologist teaching in Kronville. With the recent disappearances of multiple children, you are attempting to gain the confidence of a young student who has behavior problems.
Wow! Don't allow the seemingly drab and slow-paced beginning dissuade gamers from continuing. Story and characters fully develop and dove tail into an immersive, pleasant and surprisingly cohesive hidden object adventure. Numerous, creative mini-games, puzzles and hidden object scenes will enthrall gamers to dust off the sadly unused thinking caps. Leans more toward adventure with emphasis on actual gaming than chasing pretty butterflies.
No sleight of hand here with dull morphing objects and collectibles, the artwork is superb, the music keeps you right on the edge of your chair which is exactly where this game accomplishes from beginning to end.
Congratulations, developers! Few and far between are there games as superior as this to grace the BFG site. As a veteran and long time gamer, your artwork, graphics, music, puzzles, hidden objects, voice-overs, cut-scenes, story line all superbly rendered.
Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Guide her as she investigates these disappearances, and in doing so solve an evil plot involving an ancient artifact that can grant immortality. Uncover a shocking secret about Astrid's past that suggests her involvement in the case was no accident since her father, William Maisy "the archaeologist" discovered the artifact. Walk the razor's edge between fantasy and reality, and discover the truth! Your journey begins when you meet a young boy named Denny who has been traumatized by what he knows yet he is able to share some initial information to help you in the disappearance investigation. You return home after meeting Denny and fall asleep. You then enter a dream world which takes you thru the stories of Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Snow Queen. This is a bizarre and fascinating adventure full of puzzles, HOS, and adventure play that took me almost 8 hours to figure out. Characters you encounter outside the dream are your father 'the archaeologist', Ed Gilmore 'Town Sheriff', and Stanley Gibbs 'the watchmaker'. Which of them is the villain lusting for immortality? Shifting between the dream world and being awake only helps you come closer to the truth. Don't let the low rating reviews keep you from at least playing the demo. Shortly after the demo the game really drags you into incredible gameplay. While the graphics could have been executed better it is still a compelling mystery worthy of a game credit. I really enjoyed it and Highly recommend this THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX adventure... Show less

When you were a child the unbelievable happened when you lost your entire family in a house fire. You still have nightmares from that day and maybe that is why you chose to become a child psychologist. It seems that sometimes the help we need is found in finding answers for others.
This game is no technical superstar. There are no glitzy cutscenes but the basic graphics are quite good. There are very few settings, actually none aside from sound levels and viewing in either full or widescreen mode. There are three things I dislike, and I guess I can live with those: a distracting arrow that is constantly showing available directions, a snail’s pace hint recharge that probably takes two minutes (no I didn’t time it but it is incredibly slow), and those ridiculous conversation selectors. The game is programmed for certain outcomes so those conversation selectors serve no purpose IMHO. There are voiceovers that are quite good but the lip-sync is iffy, with some characters showing mouth movement while others do not.
Our tools include a transporter type interactive map and a diary with both being available at the beginning of the game. If you open the diary you will have tabs for your objectives and the map. I happen to like the “old school” diary in a game rather than relying on a video or scene replays to keep track of what is going on in a game.
At least early in the game there seem to be more puzzles than HOPS. The puzzles are wonderful and different than those we see consistently. I found some of them tricky and had to think about them before I could get them right.
No, this is not a razzle-dazzle game with all the bells and whistles, and even though it seems a bit old school looks can be deceiving. I have to admit that my initial response was disappointment but when I got into the game, I loved it. I am enjoying solving puzzles and discovering new things all the time. The storyline is very intriguing and has captivated my interest so I just had to keep going. In the end, I believe that this is quite an impressive jewel to add to my collection. If you want a game that is different than the norm and one that might be a bit more challenging, then Kronville Stolen Dreams might be the game you are looking for. Although the game lacks some of the glitz, IMHO, it is a 5-Star game because of the challenge and gameplay but, as always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. What I do know is that there are so many different types of puzzles, I lost count! Even the HOAs are varied. The storyline is interesting and the graphics are visually pleasing. Yes, there is no strategy guide. I find that refreshing. The hint button always helps. Thank goodness there is a map that can transport you because there are so many different locations you would get lost otherwise. Well, I would anyway!
This is a hidden gem and well worth buying, let alone using a free game token on. Btw, after almost 8 years of gaming with Big Fish, this is my first review, so that kinda says something.

What a lovely little game! This came up on a daily deal so I decided to give it a try, and am glad I did!
I am a child psychologist, and am trying to help a withdrawn little boy. During the demo, I spend a lot of time going from classroom to office and rummaging through lockers, attempting to find the secret something which would cause little Denny to talk. I was getting rather aggravated with myself, quite frankly, as I certainly did not seem to be the most organized therapist in the world. Le Sigh. In the course of my searching, I find that children are disappearing, and that they all seem to be drawing or journaling about a frightening man in a black hat who comes to take them away. After all the bustling about over little Denny, I was exhausted and took a nap. The story here took an extremely odd turn, as I woke in a dream about Captain Hook, who was holding two of the missing children hostage. I saved the children from the Captain, at which point the demo ended. I was admittedly confused, as the mix of fantasy sequence with reality didn’t seem as if it worked in the demo, but I am so very glad I kept on past that point, as this was truly an enjoyable game.
The entire story moves back and forth through reality and the dream world, with the line between them being completely blurred at times. In the end, I was chewing my nails a bit, as I had begun to suspect that my character was completely mad. The dream sequences were based on fairy tales, yet my character is “in” these dreams for a very real reason: To somehow save children who have gone missing. All of this is wrapped around a growing “who-dun-it” (and why?!) mystery. There is NO needless back and forth, trying to find a key to open a cupboard in which you find a screwdriver blade, only to realize the handle is in the locked mailbox in the next town and will only open with the flag, which is of course frozen in a block of ice in the root cellar of the house next door, which I cannot access because the hatch is missing a pull ring, which I manage to find on the 2nd floor of the local museum… Nope. The game moves forwards like clockwork, with virtually every move advancing the story. Locks were opened by solving puzzles, and HOS were worked rather seamlessly into game play to provide us with the next necessary tool to progress. There were 3-4 types of well-done HOS, balanced with about an equal number of mini-games. There were the usual “rotate the pieces” puzzles, but also were some delightfully innovative mini-games.
This is a plain-Jane game, with no bells and whistles. There is no choice of play mode at the beginning. You can adjust music and sound, and are given the option of a tutorial, but there is only one level of play. There are huge blue arrows which show up in every scene, unfortunately, marking every possible point of navigation. I ultimately was so caught up in the game that I stopped seeing them, but they are definitely annoying until your brain blots them out. There are intermittent voiceovers: At times you will read text, at other times the exact same characters find their tongues and speak. There are long cut-scenes, which some will find annoying as well.
Having said all that, I LOVED this game. I was so engrossed that none of those things bothered me a bit. The long cut-scenes were some of the best I’ve ever seen, very “arty”. They were not used as a mechanism to “tell” the story as we see so much of now, but were used in such a way that we could relate to what our character was feeling and doing. As an example, at one point the protagonist fell while entering a cellar window (doing a little B&E). A cut-scene was used to show her falling in slow-motion, in one of those split-second events that lasts a lifetime, and I almost felt her shock and fear at falling. The cut-scenes were all of this type, and incredibly well-done.
All in all, I was completely delighted with this game and would definitely recommend it. Show less

Yes it may not be as fancy as the generic games that we have now where you have collectibles, morphs and achievements, but really you are just trying to make it more challenging as well as killing time along the way. You won't need those in this game as the storyline and gameplay is challenge enough. And thank god there is no talking animal or flying fairy helpers!!!! For once I feel very capable of finding a ladder and picking up item from a tree.
It's definitely for those that love "ADVENTURE" (real adventures, not just any HOG that classify themselves as adventure). The game play is hands on, and you have to look very closely at times to find a tiny nail or random brush lying somewhere that you can actually pick up and use. Some people would say it hurt their eyes or whatever but really what's the point of playing when everything is in sparkles and so obvious like most games nowadays that you could easily finish 3 chapters in an one hour demo.
The storyline is interesting enough for me to went ahead and bought the game and I am glad I did. The standard edition offered plenty of play time even without an extra bonus chapter.
For anyone that consider themselves as "Expert" level players, give it a ago. It may not be for everyone, and I admit there are still bits and pieces that the developer should work harder on such as the click and point precision and consistency of voice-over, but it definitely deserves the recognition for been daring and different.

Although this game was developed in 2015 and normally i wouldn't purchase such an old game but lately the games of 2022 are all the same - no challenges and nothing to put them above any of the other developers.
There is no hand holding in this game and no walkthrough available from big fish which in the end i am pleased about because i would have just referred to the walkthrough instead of taking the time and thinking about what i need to do. And this is why i think that it is so refreshing and said NO HAND HOLDING in this game.
The puzzles are excellent and very creative - i am not a puzzle person but i did them all (ya me).
I enjoyed the hidden objects games also.
Although they started out "talking" by the middle they stopped and this is one game that you need to read (there isn't a lot of reading) to understand what is happening in the game. I usually skip during the "talk fest" in games in 2022 but with this one i didn't and it made the game make more sense.
I purchased the game at 9:06am and finished at 2:00pm - taking about 1 hr out of playing so about a 4 hr game which is usually the length of a CE version in 2022.
This is a game that i think you need to purchase because the demo doesn't do it justice.
Congrats to the developers you can see they have spent time developing - creating and achieving a fantastic game.
Happy gaming :) Show less
