The game is lovely and such a change to some of the offerings we have had of late and it's nice to have to actually think for a change instead of hunt, place and hunt again with nothing of substance inbetween, I will definitely buy this game when I have a little more 'entertainment money', I really just wanted to say how lovely this game is and will leave the proper reviews to those who are much ...Show more

Eventide Slavic Fable is one of those beautiful games that we are fortunate to have every so often, and sometimes it seems that a game as wonderful as this one doesn’t show up often enough. You play the game as Mary a young botanist who has been called upon by her grandmother who loves and cares for a very rare plant that is now dying. Not only is the plant dying, the fate of Heritage Park is in danger as well. Since you rarely hear from your grandmother you know it must be important so off you go to Moorland to save the plant and Heritage Park. When you arrive you are attacked by a flying monster that then flies off with your grandmother. Now your task is to save Grandma as well as the flower.

The game offers only three standard modes of gameplay: Casual, Advanced, and Expert. I don’t know about you but I love the custom mode offered by some game devs and think it should be included in all games. The graphics are gorgeous and rich. I love the depth of color and the way the artists have created the various creatures that we meet on our journey. The voiceovers are so awesome that they bring the characters in the game to life.

You have an interactive map that you will find early in the game and a journal (well sort of) that shows your objectives. At least in the demo, I didn’t come across any gimmicky time-filler tools so it looks like we are fairly much on our own.

The HOPS include a variety with some of them being interactive. We encounter the first one as we need to escape from a difficult situation and it took me a minute to realize I was even in a HOP scene. I love the puzzles in the game and, yes, they seem fairly easy but with a game this gorgeous I don’t really care.

The CE version of the game has collectibles to find and I don’t want to spoil your fun by telling you what they are. Of course, we have those inevitable achievements to earn (does anyone really care about earning them?) and all of the standard extras including the Strategy Guide and bonus game.

The game is beautiful, fun, and enchanting. I love the storyline and all of the various characters I meet. This game is a true classic that you can enjoy with the entire family. To say I love it is an understatement. After some of the more graphic games we have had recently, it is a nice change to encounter a heartwarming game. The gameplay is a bit different and things to be done are not always obvious so not only is the game gorgeous, it is definitely good for using the old gray matter. Even though I love the game, I recommend you try the demo to see if Eventide Slavic Fable is a game you will enjoy. Show less

Graphics were much better than I expected for a fantasy-type game of today. The voice overs were absolutely amazing. You have to play the game to understand exactly what I mean. The music was .... suspenseful.

You get a diary/journal and a transportable map.

3 difficulty modes: Casual, Advanced and Expert.

HOGS (hidden object games) - silhouettes, slightly interactive, no alternate game. Mini Games - fun, fun, fun! I didn't see a "reset" button but that could have just been me.

CE Bling:
* Collect 30 cards (NOT always easy to find -- could they be morphing objects?)
* Collect 30 ethereal flowers (easier to find than the "card")
* 22 puzzles (not sure what this is all about - sorry)

I really liked that you had to manipulate the fire hose to put out the fire .... or the OMG moment when you found your kidnapped Grandmom . SHOCKED MUCH???? WHO in the WORLD would kidnap a grandmom?!!?!?!? The "forest folk" sitting around the table .... I just fell in love with them and desperately wanted to jump into the computer and help them!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the troll-looking Slavic creature!

It's NOT often that you come across a game that evokes so much emotion (worry for the forest folk HELP ! , shock .... scared ... laughter) ..... that makes you forget that it's just a game ..... where the mini games and HOGs just take a backseat to the storyline.

This is definitely NOT a game to pass up. I think it would be great for all levels of experienced players. It is a definite purchase for me, especially as a CE. In fact, I replayed the beta so much waiting for the release of this entertaining and fun game, I was way ready to move on with the REST of the game ages ago!!!!

Are you up to the task of helping the forest creatures????? Join me in this daunting task and I promise .... you will certainly .....

This is such a sweet and perfect game. Just the right amount of "evil" to overcome makes it a perfect game to share with an intelligent child. But that doesn't mean I think it's a child's game! I'm 67 years old and a retired math teacher and sometimes I need mind bending difficult games to work the grey matter. But with this game it's the story which is compelling. I’m not that crazy about the art. It’s a little cartoonish for me.
But the music makes up for it. So full marks.

The game plays seamlessly.

I even like the HOPs, not my favorite part, usually.

An extra feature on my Mac=Click at top of the game’s screen to get the Mac menu to (for example) adjust all computer sound up or down without going to windowed mode. I’ve never seen this before. Also, it would allow “Force Quit” in case of game lockup (as opposed to whole computer lockup.) Great! All Mac games should have this. I just had to do a hard boot yesterday, and I would like to avoid them as much as possible.

There seems to be no ability to play the minigames over which is too bad, but there’s an ability to replay HOPs, a bonus chapter, and art+music.

Even marking down for no replay of minigames and cartoonish art, I got sucked in to the world, and that is my measure of a great game.

A charming story, unusual characters, fun puzzles and I can't tell you how thankful I am that it isn't so dark you want a virtual flashlight in the HOPs.

I know next to nothing about the mythology behind this one, and so I am hoping to see more games to flesh out the various creatures we were introduced to in this game :)

How refreshing it is to see a new storyline for a change! Arguably, Eventide: Slavic Fable is still based on the same-old kidnapping story - but at least it tries to be different. If you are a fan of fantasy games, then Eventide should feel right at home for you. The game features adorable talking mythical creatures, as well as the almighty evil ones. As the game progresses, the storyline gets more and more interesting, especially the backstories - there was never a single moment of boredom playing this game. Artifex Mundi is back to showcase its artistic superiority through the amazing visuals of the game. Every single scene is beautifully painted with rich colors and enhanced by the top-notch visual effects. I was also impressed by the amount of creativity put into creating all these eye-catching locations; they are unique to this particular game and we did not get that feeling of dejavu we sometimes get in some of the recent HOPA titles. For the majority of the game, the music remains pretty serene and calm, but it does get suspenseful when the situation seems fitting. The voice-overs of the characters are very well-done, nothing to complain about. In addition, Eventide: Slavic Fable has a very cohesive gameplay. Every aspect of the game flows delightfully together, the whole experience of the game is as smooth as silk. Perhaps, two of the weakest aspects of the game are the hidden object scenes and the puzzles. While the locations in the game are extremely imaginative, the hidden object scenes look pale in comparison - most of them are junk piles with list formats, definitely lack the bells and whistles. The puzzles are slightly better, but could certainly be better. More than half of the puzzles are incredibly easy, and not very complex either. Nonetheless, Eventide: Slavic Fable has a nice length of four hours, or five hours if you include the amazing bonus chapter. Apart from that, the Collector's Edition of the game comes with a strategy guide, replayable hidden object scenes and puzzles, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, cutscenes, achievements and collectibles. This is a family-friendly game that won my heart over. It is an exquisite game with one thrilling storyline - and the enchanting visuals give the game its own personality that make it all the more memorable. I highly recommend this adventure for gamers of every level!!! Show less
