if you like puzzles in your HO games, you'll love this one! It's the latest in the Sea of Lies series, and has a good story, great graphics and interesting puzzles even inside the HO scenes. The music is fun and pirate-y as well. There are sliding scenes, which some players don't like, but I'm fine with them. BASED ON THE FIRST 3 CHAPTERS OF 6 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER.
OVERVIEW: Ahoy mateys! Batten down the hatches and get ready to stem the tide of a Siren’s song of revenge. I LOVE this seafaring voyage into vengeance. The graphics are beautiful, colorful, and capture the nautical theme. This game is “dressed to the nines” with a treasure trove of excellent puzzles and HOP scenes. The game is puzzle-intense and HOP lite. The puzzles are varied and there is a variety of difficult and easy puzzles. The inventory itself is puzzle-like. You may want to keep the music on in this game. The music consists of seafaring ditties to get you into the pirate mood.
You better be keeping a “weather eye open.” There is a tempest brewing in dealing with the Siren and her band of pirates. Can you weather the storm of this vixen? The many “hands” and “arms” of a sea monster make light work of incoming ships. Wishing myself to set sail to a small sun swept Caribbean island, I purchased this game straightaway to play on a bleak, wintry day!
STORY: As a shipwrecked surgeon trapped on the island of Puerto Valiz, you must find a way to stop a vengeful vixen from isolating the island from the outside world. This Siren, hiding behind a mask, has enlisted the services of a giant behemoth to destroy ships as they enter the island. She is also enlisting the aid of a band of pirates as well. How is she able to control this sea monster and have it do her bidding?
AFTER THE DEMO: Zip lining through the jungle, the Caribbean vacation continues as you figure out how to stop the Siren and her madness. You even get serenaded (LOL) with a song. In Chapter 3 there is only one HOP scene which is a FROG. The puzzles include a devious little physics problem along with a rotating rings puzzle and a moving tiles puzzle. I thought the game continued on in the same excellence as the demo.
MINI-GAMES: This game shows a vast improvement in the quality of the puzzles. The puzzles vary in difficulty and variety. The inventory itself has mini-puzzles which you must solve. The puzzles in the demo include sliding tiles puzzles, matching puzzles, manual dexterity puzzles, maze puzzle and mathematical puzzles. In Chapter 3 there is a physics puzzle, rotating rings puzzle, and a moving tiles puzzle.
• Favorite puzzle: Nautical flag puzzle. This tricky little brain teaser involves figuring out the correct message to give an incoming ship, after which, you must manipulate levers and rotate flags into correct position. And, of course, moving one flag affects the others.
• Second favorite puzzle: Fiendish maze puzzle. Lead a ship through a maze by removing obstacles in its way. What makes this difficult is that you must move these obstacles using wheels within the maze.
• Third favorite puzzle. In Chapter 3 there is a fiendish physics puzzle in which you must direct light to three skulls matching the color of the light to the color of the skull.
HOP SCENES: You have the ability to play a theme-based Match-3 game instead.
Most of the HOP scenes are multiple step ones. They are beautifully created and varied including lists of items to locate, silhouette, and cryptic clues. After the demo in Chapter 3, the HOP scene was a FROG.
EXTRAS: As a true seafaring salt, you get your map as you play the game and prove you have your sea legs. The extras include 12 Achievements. The only collectibles are 45 signs and 28 souvenirs. You can replay 15 HOP scenes and 17 Mini-games. There are the usual wallpaper, artwork, music, plus 9 videos. The strategy guide consists of 44 pages
LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom You can choose penalties for random clicking on HOP scenes
Hints 10 to 120 seconds Skips 10 to 400 seconds
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES UP TO AND INCLUDING CHAPTER 3
HOP SCENES: You have the option to play a Match 3 game instead.
A. Multiple step. (1) Locate 5 each of pistols and seashell opening up (2) a list of items to locate
B. Mini-HOP scenes with silhouette items to locate
C. Multiple-step. So awesome. Based on a ship. (1) Lists of items to locate. (2) Cryptic clues (3) Matching. Match up the correct 6 signal flags on a display map. EXCELLENT
D. Multiple-step. (1) List of items to locate. (2) Locate a number of a certain item
AFTER THE DEMO:
E. FROG scene. Create a useful item, “me mateys!”
PUZZLES:
A. I spy a little fly. Sliding tiles puzzle. Rotate four rings on a spyglass to create a picture. EASY
B. Out of my way. Manual dexterity puzzle. Navigate a ship by circumventing a sea monster. EASY
C. Pull up roots! Matching puzzle. By pulling up plants by their roots, match up those roots according to a plant guide. EASY
D. Balance it out. Mathematical puzzle. Place weights on a balance to the correct weight in grams. EASY
E. Your ship is a wreck. Matching puzzle. Identify ship wrecks by placing ship tokens on a map according to hints detailed in the Captain’s log.
F. I am a-maze-d. Maze puzzle. Create a path for a ship’s wheel to maneuver through a maze by removing objects in its path. MODERATELY DIFFICULT
G. Run it up the flagpole. Ship flag puzzle. Moving tiles/matching puzzle. Using levers, move flags to match up with a diagram. Moving one affects the others. MODERATELY DIFFICULT
AFTER THE DEMO:
H. The return of the Maya. Sliding rings puzzle. Slide outside rings into position to connect beams of light form the center to the outside of the calendar. EASY
I. Picture me a native. Moving tiles puzzle. Place tiles into correct position to create a picture. EASY
J. You light up my life-less skull. Physics problem. Move buttons to redirect 3 colors of light to reach 3 skulls so that each skull receives the correct color of light. MODERATELY DIFFICULT

Aboard the escort vessel with Captain Woodhouse at the helm, a strange fog begins to roll in. This is no ordinary fog, and those are no ordinary pirates! The pirates have a new weapon, and they call her "The Siren", this pied piper of the seas has just called for backup, a giant tentacled Kraken, that rips through the hull of your ship and sends her to the bottom of the sea. You crawl to the shores of Puerto Valiz, but the pirates are relentless, as they attempt to cut off all sources of communication. Surely you can outwit a band of pirates, Dr. Norton, your life depends on it!
This is another great addition to The Sea of Lies, although none of them seem to hold a candle to the original episode. The graphics have improved, but I just found myself a little bored with the motions at times, there's just no real wow factor to make me want to purchase this game, it's a take it or leave it kind of game. There are plus signs on some of the inventory items requiring an extra step before using, some of which are in the form of a small simple puzzle to solve. There are 12 Achievements to earn as well as a Hidden Sign (ship's wheel) in each of the 45 locations throughout the game.
The Hidden Object Scenes are not bad, but again, there's no wow factor. There are small zoom zone HOP's and there is an optional Match 3 game to play. Most of the HOP's are interactive list finds, but there are silhouetted shape finds, descriptions of items to find and even scenes that require you find 5 of the same objects on each side which gives you a tool to unlock the list of items.
The Mini Games are sea worthy, but rather simple to solve, which isn't necessarily bad, just not very challenging. Below are brief descriptions of the games you'll encounter in the demo:
1) Complete the picture to use the spyglass by selecting directional arrows.
2) Use arrows to rotate the ship's wheel and avoid the monster's tentacles.
3) Collect the correct roots by pulling flowers until you find a match.
4) Use the ship's log to select and place ships correctly on a map.
5) Lead the wheel on the left to the ship on the right through obstacles.
6) Use levers to move flags to match the diagram, selecting one affects others.
This Collector's Edition has 12 Achievements, 45 Hidden Collectible Signs, 9 Videos, 8 Concept Art pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 9 Music Soundtracks, 15 replayable HOP's, 17 replayable Mini Games, a Souvenir Room, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

I've come to notice not all of Eipix' games are going to have morphs and accept it, nor are they all going to be Final Cut quality. This little semi-precious gem has a pirate theme, which suits me, with a dash of Mayan culture.
The story is straightforward and easy to follow. The HOs are varied, but nothing you haven't seen before. It's top-heavy in puzzles, which increase in originality and difficulty as the game progresses. I do think they are worth replaying.
The scenery is highly varied, with a lot of internal and external sets allowing a wide range of color and design. The sounds and atmosphere are well-done. Adventure challenge is medium, with only a few spots where the next step isn't clear. There's a bit of potion-mixing, and I'm lukewarm on that.
Collectibles include ship's wheels ("signs"), which can be glaringly obvious or subtle. Achievements are included, including watching the credits for Eipix' silly remarks. No morphs, alas.
The main game is close to 4 hours in hard mode, the bonus game is just over an hour. The latter carries the story further in an interesting way, and has very good puzzles. CE bling includes replayable HOs and puzzles, the souvenir room (a collectible hunt), a silly dev video (find it under the cut-scene videos), achievements, and your collected shipwheels. You can go back and find missed collectibles.
Is it worth a CE? Well, I personally like Eipix' CE bling, but also I think it has good puzzles to replay, and the bling extends my playtime. If you're still skeptical, try a CE sale. Show less

Dear Eipix,
I have a lot of your games in my collection. Many were stellar, some were really good, others average, some just disappointing.
And now we come to the new addition to the Sea of Lies series.
As a lady surgeon, in a time when women were not allowed on ships except as passengers and certainly not trained as any type of doctor, I am the new ship surgeon on the warship assigned to protect a convoy of trade ships.
OK, I'm guessing you assume the majority of your customers want to play in skirts.
As my ship sinks in the opening minuted of the game, I watch a giant squid shadow swim away under the water before I try to reach the surface in my fifteen to twenty yards of water soaked dress and petticoats.
On shore I am met by a local lass who offers no sympathy. As I just waded in as the almost sole survivor, why would I get sympathy?
When I get to the town gates, the guard wants proof I'm not a pirate. Here I get crafty, run back to the wreck, which has drifted to shore with me, and pull out my nice dry medical license!
I stuck it out to the end of the demo.
The artwork is beautiful, your orchestra is wonderful, the HOPs were varied and the story COULD have been good.
But the mini-games had lackluster directions, the story was, in the telling, trite. In short, I want and, frankly, expect more from any game with the Eipix logo on it.
Please try again.
Just remember that I can't recommend a game I won't buy.
Sorry, Eipix.
