This game to me is great, I love the graphics, as to me it is the most important part of the game, the Details and colors are what I look for in any game. Very well done game so buying it is easy.

What a surprise. Just when I thought that I was done playing any future games in the Shadow Wolf series, along comes The Curse of Wolfhill that brings me back to everything that I thought was excellent with the first game – The Curse of the Full Moon. In The Curse of Wolfhill we go to Scotland to save our cousin and his family. It seems that the chief druid in the village of Wolfhill really has something against the werewolf family and your father whisked you away as an infant to escape the druid’s taste for blood. As we move forward in time you are now an adult and your cousin Neil needs your father’s help to save his family from the druid who tried to kill you when you were an infant. Now that you have returned to Wolfhill it’s not too long before you find that not only must you save Neil and his family but dad is in dire straits as well. Will you be able to use your wits and your wolf powers to save the family?
The game has everything I love and expect from this developer. Gone are the cartoonish type graphics that had appeared in some more recent games from the Bunny Team. The characters are so well-depicted that they become very realistic. Even the animals are drawn to perfection and come to life. The voiceovers and the entire sound package are top-notch and add so much to the game. The game includes the custom level so you can set your hint and mini-game recharge time to as little as 5 seconds or as long as 200 seconds. You can also turn on the rapid click penalty if you like. I have always disliked being penalized for rapid clicking so I am very happy any time a game allows me to get rid of it.
Your tools include a map and wolf powers that are activated as you find berries from the Viscum Lupinorum a very rare mistletoe plant. Yes the wolf powers are a gimmick but they are so well integrated into the game that using them flows seamlessly into the gameplay.
The varied HOPS are excellent and enjoyable to play. Some HOPS are very interactive while others have only minimal interaction required to complete the scenes. Not only do we have the standard list type HOPS but there are the storybook and silhouette types as well. The mini-games are excellent and many seem quite difficult. I really had to take my time with the puzzles so I am pleased to see that one of my favorite game devs has stepped up and given many of us what we love. Not all, but most of the puzzles offer the option of casual or hard settings so that if you want more difficulty it is available just by selecting the option in those games.
The CE version of the game offers few extras but we can replay the mini-games and HOPS. There are only 16 collectible items to find and they are bits and pieces of items that relate to some of the game’s characters. The CE content is fairly slim but there is the bonus game and the strategy guide that will prove very helpful to those who are new to the genre. IMHO, if you choose to wait for the SE you won’t be missing a lot. I happen to go for the CEs particularly when there is a sale because, even though I don’t always use it, I want the in-game strategy guide available. As a note, the strategy guide has 50 pages and even with playing past the demo point I am only at page 15, which is an indication that the game will be quite long for me.
The original Shadow Wolf game is one of my favorite games of all time so it was very disappointing as I watched many of the subsequent games fade in comparison. The Curse of Wolfhill brings me back to what I love in this series. Everything about it is terrific and I had to tear myself away so that I could finish my review. In recent months I have become bored with some of the HOPA games but both of the games this week are excellent. I know that there are many of you out there in BFG game land who can zoom through games but I play slowly as I enjoy looking at everything. If you loved the early games in the Shadow Wolf series, I think you might really like The Curse of Wolfhill. Even though I absolutely LOVE this game, please try the demo to see if it is one you will enjoy. Show less

ERS Shadow Wolf Mysteries 5: Curse of Wolfhill is a great addition to the series. The series in general tells a story of a special wolf curse in a family. You really need to check out the entire series if you are not familiar with it. In this particular game, you and your father are forced to go back to the very place you ran away from years ago. Your cousin is in trouble, and you know it because he had sent your family's symbol. This means that you are going to face the wolf curse 'werewolves!' that you'd been trying to avoid. It is a very dark and dramatic story, but it is also very interesting, ingaging, and addictive. The audio-visuals create an absolutely matching atmosphere for the story. They are mostly grey and blue but the story isn't a happy one either. These great quality graphics and music are part of the downloadable media extras. There is a bonus game with its own story for you are discover. I REALLY liked the bonus game story. The game has four levels, one of which is custom. You can adjust things like hint recharge "5-200 seconds" and punishment for clicking there. 17 hidden object scenes and 12 puzzles are re-playable. You get a strategy guide and a map. The game is very interactive as you proceed with the story. There is a lot of inventory to pick up and use elsewhere. The puzzles are interesting and can be hard or as easy as you want. You can set the difficulty level according to your skills in the settings. The hidden object scenes come in all known types of searches. You get lists, silhouettes, matching etc... Collectibles and achievements make the game more fun and add a little extra challenge. A four wolf powers make the game really cool especially for the werewolves fans. This edition isn't necessarily my favorite but it holds its own with respect to all the previous editions. Here are the others in the order that I remember playing. Enjoy!

The Mill has been providing the small village of Wolfhill, with food, for many generations of the Miller's lineage. The Miller's have always been hard working citizens, and well respected by Wolfhill residents, but this family has a curse, a life altering curse that occurs with every full moon! Many moons ago, a weary farmer struck a deal with a powerful Druid, whose promise of a long awaited cure, was well worth the steep price they negotiated. Your father refused to honor the debt his ancestor's owed the Druids, and fled Wolfhill to keep you safe. When your father learns that the Druids have plans to take his cousin's newborn child, you know it's time to return to Wolfhill and face your demons, prepared or not!
The graphics in this latest edition of Shadow Wolf Mysteries: Curse of Wolfhill are beautifully hand drawn, I prefer the crisp, computer generated graphics, but these artists deserve a pat on the back for their creativity. Because you are a "coming of age" werewolf, you will hone your special abilities such as a keen eyesight, a keen sense of smell, and werewolf strength, which are obtained once you have found enough mistletoe berries, (there is an icon on the bottom right side of the inventory bar) that are native to only Wolfhill. In my opinion, this game fell a little flat, there isn't anything special, including the storyline, to make this game stand out from any other HOPA game of the same genre, it's a forgettable kind of game. It's not a bad game, it has entertainment value, it's just not over the top exciting. There are the usual complex inventory items, custom difficulty modes and Achievements available. This Collector's Edition has Collectible Family items such as photo's, and personal Miller family items, again, not so impressive, I guess you can count the Mistletoe Berries as a Collectible as well.
The Hidden Object Scenes are varied with Interactive List finds, finding items that match the Red Text words during a background story of the Millers, Fragment finds, and silhouetted Shape finds. Some of the items are fairly well hidden which presents a nice challenge. My biggest complaint is that some of the scenes are repeated, which is really boring the second time around.
The Mini Games are decent but nothing really new, some are available in Casual or Hard modes. The following are brief descriptions of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Move the hands in the correct order.
2) Rearrange the windmill blades so that all tiles of the same color are on the same blade.
3) Select matching pairs of toys.
4) Press the fingers in the order shown in demo.
5) Move the pin all the way to the finish without touching the sides of the lock.
6) Extend all of the spiders legs to open the lock, moving one leg may affect others.
7) Slide the vacuum tubes to their sockets to overload the system, then move the elements to clear a path for the tubes.
This Collector's Edition has 4 Music Soundtracks, 20 Videos, 7 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art Pictures, 4 Screensavers, 12 replayable Mini Games, 17 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 17 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure, enjoy! Show less
