Back to Bed is an artistic 3D puzzle game with a surreal twist. It tells the story of Bob, an unlucky narcoleptic with a tendency of falling asleep in his boring office and then proceeding to sleepwalk into the dangers of the big city. Luckily, Bob has a subconscious guardian named Subob, whose job is to protect the sleepwalker from any danger and guide him back to the safety of his bed.

The ever vigilant Subob must guide Bob’s sleepwalking self on a journey through a series of surreal painting-like cityscapes where the boundary between Bob's dreams and reality have vanished. The result is an artistic dream world that is recognizable, yet totally different from reality. Many things are not what they seem and new dangers lurk as Bob travels deeper into the dream world.
  • Unique surreal and artistic game universe
  • Isometric puzzle design
  • Enjoy a picturesque visual style
  • Unlock nightmare mode for new challenges!

You just start all over in the level so you can try, try again until you figure it out. If the character movement was more intuitive I would have given it 5 stars. As it is, though, this is a genuine flaw in an otherwise refreshing little game. Show less

The visuals are great, like walking through a surrealist painting.
The only reason I would not but it is the length. There appear to be only 30 levels that I could see. I finished 22 of them during the hour trial. Not going to purchase a game for another 8 levels regardless of how much I enjoyed it.
Definitely give it a try though, you will enjoy the hour. Show less

The game itself can be played with either a mouse or a controller, and is pretty bare bones, but there are plenty of walkthroughs out for it, both written and video to help the beginning player through figuring out how to "save Bob"....
who is a Narcoleptic and prone to go sleepwalking....and that is where a rather perverse (to some) humor comes in, as the sleepwalking Bob steps off of buildings and runs into things.
There is also a wonderful enigmatic character that we use to save Bob....I don't know if it is a dog or a cat, but I vote for cat. as it seems to have some catitude.
That is it....platform after platform of using the cat and various items found in the landscape to get Bob safely to his bed...an apple to change direction of walking, a fish to use as a bridge....and I will leave you to discover what else.
Again, I say give this game a try you may be pleasantly surprised. Show less

Bob has a sleeping disorder, Narcolepsy, which causes him to fall asleep at work and sleepwalk. Luckily for Bob, he has a subconscious guardian named Subob who helps Bob make it safely to his bed, by gently guiding him through the obstacles and various dangers within his dreamworld.
Each level is the same, you guide Subob to the green apple which is usually located nearby. Once he is close enough to the giant fruit, you right click to pick the apple up, left click to guide Subob to the best area to change Bob;s walking pattern (as shown by footprints) and right click again to place the apple. Bob will always turn clockwise, and there are other stationary objects along the way that will also cause Bob to turn clockwise. If Bob falls off the edge of the grid, he will restart from the beginning point, but Subob and the apple stay in the same place they were. This means that you might have to scramble a bit to reach Bob's previous wrong way obstacles, but at least you will know the right strategy to take.
Back to Bed is actually a fast paced game where you have to struggle with your computer mouse, unless you have a game controller which is what this game was designed around. The first few levels were fairly entertaining, but as the levels became progressively harder, I found the game to be more frustrating than I personally cared for, so for me, I'll pass on this one. I was bored after the first three as there wasn't much variety in the puzzles. You pick up a green apple or two or three, with Subob who is the subconscious of Bob, and put it in front of Bob, who goes clockwise, so he doesn't fall off the edges and direct him to the door that opens to his bed to end the stage. I wanted to like it. I tried to like this game but puzzles without variety don't hold my attention span for very long. And it wasn't as challenging as it was frustrating. I have carpal tunnel and trying to pick up the apples, by right clicking them, in time and then putting them where they belong before Bob decided to fall to his demise just didn't help my condition much. I also had trouble trying to drop the apples in the right squares as I would always be one off sometimes or thought I had Subob in the right square only to see Bob careen off into nothingness.
I like the Escheresque-style backgrounds as he is one of my favorite artists. And the music and sounds are not bad either. It's appealing and doesn't take away from the feel of the game.
I only played the demo, and glad I did. Now I'm not a genius but I found this game to be a bit too easy, frustrating and lacking any challenge. The devs are on to something, just not this direction that they chose.
So play the demo at least. Though I guarantee it might bore you. I prefer the other puzzle games on this site. You probably will too. Show less

The visuals are great. That's their selling point.
The action is simpleminded. You get Bob back to bed and your reaction is "Is that all there is?"
Also it is meant for a game controller. With a mouse, the action is clunky. In an adventure/HOG game it would not matter. In a game when sometimes you need speed it is aggravating
I don't recommend this game.

I don't see a lot of games that require a controller, so I won't buy one just to play this one game. I did try with the mouse, and was unable to pass the first level. You are supposed to have this little guy pick up an apple, and then have him run in front of the main character and deposit the apple right in front of him, so that he does not walk off the game board into oblivion. However, the main character walks much faster than I can do things with a mouse, as this game clearly only works well with a game controller. If you have one, and you enjoy the demo, then this is a good game for you! Otherwise, for the majority of people, I don't recommend it! Show less
