In the new Danse Macabre Ominous Obsession you find yourself neck deep in a mystery after your friend Maria is kidnapped. Maria has a great future ahead of her in films in America – that is if you can find her and help her achieve her dream.

I actually am impressed that this game has some great puzzles and HOPS. Some of the HOPS seem better than usual as are the puzzles that, at least for me, seemed to have more challenge. Yes, there was a very easy gate puzzle and then another on the ship that could have been a bit more difficult but I enjoyed most of the puzzles right from the beginning of the game and found them to be different than those we normally see from this developer. IMHO, the developer did a great job by bringing us puzzles that have some new twists. I loved the one where we have to weave a cover of ribbons. I am not going to detail all the puzzles or HOPS I have encountered today because other reviewers do an excellent job of covering the nitty-gritty for you.

As usual the graphics and all of the other video features in the game are top quality but I did notice that some voiceovers are not lip- synced. The game does have the custom setting that I love and then we have the interactive, transporter type map to help us on our adventure.

The CE version has the predictable collectibles, morphing objects and other standards but I happen to love CEs because of the in-game Strategy Guide even though I rarely use it. It is often very helpful to clarify instructions for the puzzles if one is not sure what to do.

Many seasoned gamers will not agree with my opinion of the game because it is what they call cookie-cutter and that is okay. How we perceive games is very personal and subjective so not everyone will love this game. I have purchased and played almost every HOPA game since I became a BFG member over ten years ago. I am absolutely a total fan of the HOPA genre and never seem to tire of playing this type of game. Yes they are the same thing many times because aside from the storyline and graphics there is not really too much room to create something different. I too have my days when I seem to be tired of playing HOPA games but I inevitably just have to return to fill my passion for playing HOPA game. I happen to love the storyline for Ominous Obsession and have played the game off and on most of the day. It is a great game – at least for me – and one I find has enough challenge and difference to keep me well-entertained. As always, please try the demo to see if Ominous Obsession is a game you will enjoy as well. Show less

All in all, even though I rarely buy CE's because I can do without all of the extras, with this game, I will definitely make an exception. Give the demo a try, you might agree with some of the other great reviews already posted. Show less

I Loved the pictures in the HOPs. Some morphs were really hard. I mostly get the Collector's Editions because I like the extras. I like looking for the boxes and morphs. The souvenirs are nice because I can revisit the scenes. Skipped most of the puzzles. I'm in it for the Hidden Objects because it's relaxing and the puzzles frustrate me. I liked the storyline.

I recommend this game!

I stopped the trial only because don't want to go to far just want to buy soon. Give me beautiful clear graphics like Epic did l love it.!!! Last game not that interested sorry. I love the hidden objects the more the better.

I just completed this CE version and bravo to Eipix devs! Bravo! Great and interesting game. Lots of strategic and clever tasks and puzzles-minigames. I'm not a fan of some of the puzzles because some require my patience, which sometimes I lack.

I just completed this CE version and bravo to Eipix devs! Bravo! Great and interesting game. Lots of strategic and clever tasks and puzzles-minigames. I'm not a fan of some of the puzzles because some require my patience, which sometimes I lack.

The storyline was intriguing and the artwork quite elegant with the ballerina scenario, and yet grotesque and intricate-looking items and artifacts. Beautiful and beastly scenes, so to speak! Lots of skulls and skeletons, too. The attention to detail was amazing with some unusual and intricate items to find. The graphics are top shelf!

The hidden object scenes were awesome. I found all the morphing objects, and the interactive tasks within these scenes were fun to do. I actually looked forward to those. The puzzles were tedious, some more challenging than others, but thought-provoking. One of my favorite minigames was moving the sliders to reveal the missing notes! Very clever!

I completely forgot about the souvenirs. I believe there are 30 of those to retrieve but you can search for them after you complete the Bonus Game, which I will go back to once I finish this review. I like the option of being able to do that in CE versions. When playing the main and bonus games, I collected 23 of the 39 collectibles. You can also retrieve the ones you missed after you complete the Bonus Game.

The music, the voiceovers, the special effects were wonderful. The movement of the mouths on each of the characters was pretty much in sync and believable. These devs are especially talented in this area. I don't think I've given their games a 5-star in a long time but this game certainly warrants it. The game-flow was spot on, and there is back n' forth going on throughout the scenes but I wasn't bothered by that at all. I highly recommend this game! Show less

Wow! I am loving this game! I haven't previously played a Danse Macabre game so, for me, this is fresh stuff from this dev.

To begin with, the scenes play like a movie. The one at what turned out to be the end of the demo actually made me jump. I really enjoyed watching them. Seeing the way people's mouths moved as they spoke gave a sense of realism to the some of the conversations. The HO scenes felt new(ish), as well. After the games I've reviewed over the last several days, this one has been a breath of fresh air.

Gameplay was very smooth and movements required were logical. I didn't feel like I was lost as I played. There were some mini-games which stood out as such and were fairly easy to complete, then there were mini mini-games that were incorporated into regular gameplay and not really counted as mini-games, per se. I thought that was a fun aspect.

There are achievements and collections, although I couldn't get a sense of what the collections were because they were locked until after game is played. I can't recall for sure but maybe until after the bonus game is played, too. There's also morphing items but only in HOG's. As much as I was enjoying myself, I didn't feel the need to pay CE price for the extras this time. I will probably wait til the SE comes out and purchase the game then. Until then I say well done to the devs. Ominous Obsession is a fun game to play and I definitely recommend you try it out. Show less
