I thought that this game was a Match 3 game intended for kids, but it has unique features, many of which are quite challenging. I didn't get the chance to play the original Ricky Raccoon because it just wouldn't work on my computer for whatever reason. I thought that this game was a Match 3 game intended for kids, but it has unique features, many of which are quite challenging. I'm definately using a coupon for this game, that offers two modes of difficulty, Timed and Relaxed.

Ricky need to make money to buy 5 different maps, to earn money, you will play several levels to collect gold nuggets by making matches next to them. Each Gold Panning level has three different boards to complete that appear when you finish a board. Making large matches will earn powerups on the board that are gem specific, requiring you to match the powerup in a match with the same stone. Matching 4 stones earns you an explosive stone to destroy tiles surrounding it, L and T shapes earn a Lightning stone that destroys stones in a row and column, and 5 matches earn you a Color stone that destroys all stones of the same color.

There are several different types of Match 3 games, most of which are offered once you buy a map and enter a pyramid. Old Mine requires you to make matches over all yellow tiles. Gold Digger requires you to dig for gold by making matches near the ground to dig your way to bury gold. Collect requires you to collect jewelry by dropping them off of the board. Pathfinder requires you to remove the indicated number of stones within a specified number of moves. Coin Chase requires you to remove as many coins as possible without letting any coin reach the top, they require stone specific matches, and with every move, coins move up one tile. Puzzles are similar to tetris, a few stones are given on the board and you must make matches to keep the board from reaching the top, every turn adds 5 new stones to the top.

The stones are bright and colorful, and you are constantly playing different types of Match 3, making this game ,ore interesting, enjoy! Show less

I went into this new Match-3 game with very low expectations thinking this would be just another cut-paste simple match-3 game with bland game play and I was pleasantly surprised at this gem! I thought to start with this game was going to be a vanilla match-3 game but within a few levels I kept playing until my trial expired! The great think about this game too is you can play casual with no penalties or losses or turn the casual mode off for a more challenging play thru if that is your style. To best sum up the layout of the level variety I will describe some below (I may be missing a few modes but will try to cover most of them).

Level Layouts:

1) Make matches next to gold nuggets to clear level. Clear x number of gold to complete level.
2) Make matches in gold tiles to complete level split up into 3 grid like levels. 48 gold tiles = 3 boards with 16 gold tiles each to clear.
3) Make matches near ground to break up dirt to dig up dirt. Then make matches near gold buried in dirt. Collect x amount of gold to clear level. Similar game play I think I did this in the Fishdom series.
4) Casual mode off - Some levels offer with casual mode off for you to clear x number of pieces within certain number of moves.
5) Casual mode off - Some levels with casual mode off want you to clear the board without the board filling up to the top or game over. A little hardcore for me but some may enjoy!
6) Making matches to drop jewelry off the bottom of the board. Drop or explode x number of jewelry to complete level.
7) Making matches with gold covered gems before they reach the top of the screen. This was kind of fun. If casual mode if off during this mode and gems reach top before goals are reached I believe it is game over.

So now you can see why I went ahead and bought this one. I might of forgot a mode because it was quite easy to get lost in the game with all these modes this game has to offer whether you want to try the levels casually or timed! The choice is yours and you can replay tomb levels if you like.

Highly recommend this to any casual or expert Match-3 gamer! Try the trial and see how fast that 60 minutes sneaks up on you. I hope my review was helpful to everyone that has interest in what this game has to offer everyone in helping them decide if it is worth a buy to you or not. Consider the reviews, try the trial, then decide for yourself if this game is your bread and butter! Show less

First, I am in love with the incredibly cute characters -- so appealing! Then, I must say that this is quite a bit more challenging that the standard Match 3 games. There are different games with different aims, and some of them have taken me a while to get through!

Came across this by accident and love it! I've also now played the original game and while they are structurally similar it matters not because the high fun just goes on and on. I adore Ricky and will go with him and Grandpa to whatever ends of the earth they choose to visit next, and I hope that comes soon! Ricky is definitely my kind of explorer, he totally rocks! And may I say he is adorable?

I recommend this game!

this game is not too long but it took me all day off and on to finish. no power-ups per se, but the explosions take a lot of gems out. there are different ways to win a level. i played in the relaxed mode. there is a hint button. it plays just like the first one.

I enjoy playing "Ricky Raccoon 2 and Ricky Raccoon. The game holds my interest and it makes me learn manuverability. They are two of the most interesting games I have played. I enjoy match 3 games and I wish the writers of these two programs would invest time in writing Ricky Raccoon 3 and more.

I recommend this game!

I liked the challenging gameplay, but I downrated two stars because this game is utterly unappealing to look at. In a match 3 I find the visual aspect important as well.
