I have always loved this series from one of my favorite developers. There is something very comforting about the consistent elements this series. The color pallet, the music, elf's sense of humor, the depth of detail in each element is always there. But each game is distinct in story, this one really steps it up a notch.

I have always loved this series from one of my favorite developers. There is something very comforting about the consistent elements this series. The color pallet, the music, elf's sense of humor, the depth of detail in each element is always there. But each game is distinct in story, this one really steps it up a notch.
I don't like helpers in other games but elf would be missed if they took him out of this series. He ads an element of humor and fun that is subtly done. I really like elf, a helper in any other game is an annoying but not elf.
The storyline is really well done in this game. Lots of character development as always. MT has a gift for making you care about the characters, you invest in them. You want the mission to go well. They do it by constantly informing you of the why behind the mission. In this one Bobby has a huge problem and his best friend and grandfather are trying to deal with it when you arrive on the scene. Things don't go well for a bit. As the story develops we learn more and more about the backstory of the mission. And have to figure out how to save Bobby and friends from the evil doers all around them. Beware of who you trust. Not everyone is who they seem in this amazing MT story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Show less

Being a Mystery Trackers Agent can be very stressful. So stressful in fact, that your brain has shut out all memories of your current case, The Shadowfield Observatory missing persons case! This assignment should have been a piece of cake, but something must have gone terribly wrong, to cause amnesia. Your only hope of solving this case, is through hypnosis, to peel back the layers, buried deep within the mind. One thing's for sure, your partner Elf seems to know more than he's letting on, but he ain't talking!

The Mystery Trackers series has always appealed to me, especially in the beginning. As with most games in a long running series, Mystery Trackers hit a bump in the road to fame, with some less than stellar games. The problem was that in an attempt to make the games easy enough for beginners, they made the puzzles and game features too simplistic, making the games unappealing to even the beginners. I think Mystery Trackers finally made it over the bump in the road, with the last two games offered, they have redeemed their credibility!

There are really only two "sidekicks" that are must haves, Mr. Jenkins, and of course, Elf. Mystery Trackers would't be Mystery Trackers without the help of our little four legged pint sized agent. In this Collector's Edition version, there are plenty of extras to validate its worthiness. In fact, when I first discovered this series, back in the day, I couldn't get enough of theses games because of their highly entertaining extras, every MT games have them. There are Morphing Objects, 12 hidden Zodiac Symbols, and 40 Hidden Screen Tiles that will complete a stunning stellar picture when they are all found.

The Hidden Object Scenes are decent, but still don't compare to the earlier HO's offered originally. (the one's where objects were cleverly blended into the scene, not heaped on top of a giant pile of junk) There are Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds, Keywords in sentences and scenes where you grab items from the inventory bar and place them into the scenes logically. One HOP in particular was challenging because you have to scan two different constellation maps to highlight the images to find them. Back in the day, Mystery Trackers Hidden Object Scenes were unique, because they required you to toggle back and forth between inventory bars, because some HO interactions required items that you found during the main game!

The Mini Games are much less simplistic than they were previously, but still lean towards the easy breezy side. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Guide the tool chip along the tracks to the right side of the board.(all that work for a lousy screwdriver, everyone knows all you need is a coin!)

2) Move the elements across the board to place the symbols of Zodiac signs next to their matching images.

3) Remove the branches in the correct order.

4) Align the correct fittings by rotating the circle to match up halves.

5) Complete the image by rotating honeycomb shaped tiles.

6) Arrange the planets into one line, moving one planet may affect others.

7) Arrange the board according to the diagram, moving one sphere may affect others.

8) Use the pin to mark 3 different sized stars on the globe, click the globe to rotate it and drag the pin to move it.

You awaken during the night, your heart is pounding and you can’t catch your breath; you know it is only a nightmare but it is so terrifying. Since your last case in the Shadowfield Observatory you have been having these nightmares and you can’t remember anything that happened as you searched for a missing girl, Ann McPherson. It should have been easy to find her but something happened that made it one of the most difficult cases you have ever encountered. Perhaps it is time that you paid a visit to your psychologist, Dr. Spector, to see if he can help you figure out why you are having these horrific nightmares and why you can’t remember what happened at the observatory. Dr. Spector (I think I would have chosen a different psychologist than one whose last name is Spector) puts you into a hypnotic trance and as you begin to recall the details of the case, you realize that it was more than a simple open and shut missing person case. Play this amazing new Mystery Trackers to find out the truth of what actually happened in Shadowfield.

Yes, your service dog and buddy, Elf, is along to help you obtain items that are located in areas you can’t access.

The HOPS are very good and some are a bit different. I found one of the HOP scenes to be quite a challenge but it was very well crafted and worth the time it took to complete the scene and acquire the item I needed. Other HOPS are equally as good and some are more or less standard but still excellent in the way they are presented.

I love puzzles in HOPA games and even though a few early in the game are quite easy others offered more challenge. I believe that I skipped two puzzles during the demo because I didn’t’ want to take the time to solve them. All in all, IMHO, the puzzles in Memories of Shadowfield are excellent and great fun.

If you prefer the CE version of a game, Mystery Trackers Memories of Shadowfield includes the following extra content. There are collectibles as well as morphing objects to find. Of course there are achievements because we simply can’t live without them. The other standard extras include Wallpapers, Concept Artwork, Music, the in-game Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. For extra fun there is a Special Room as well.

Mystery Trackers Memories of Shadowfield is an exciting game and probably one of the best MT games that I have played. My favorite was one of the earlier games in the series – Raincliff but after that the others didn’t seem quite as good until this game came along. . When the demo ended with a cliff-hanger I couldn’t wait to continue the story and find out what happens next. There is a sci-fi feel to the game and I am not sure what the outcome will be. All I know is that the theme is certainly different and we are not fighting against some evil warlock or wizard who wants to take over the world. The developer deserves a big thank you for stepping outside of the box and bringing us a game with a fresh theme. Even though I love the game and purchased it the minute it was released, I recommend that you try the demo to see if Memories of Shadowfield is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming! Show less

Wonderful game! I felt immersed in the story through the great voice acting and the psychology themes, making me want to never stop playing. The astrology-themed puzzles were a cool addition (though I did have to skip a few of them, lol), giving the plot a good feeling.

What also stood out to me was the beautiful music, especially in the hidden object puzzles. I almost want to buy the game just ...Show more

At least for me it is a must have ! The story line is amazing , the graphics are beautiful, voices match the scenes. All in all a well done and presented game.
Like the most Mystery Trackers, it is more on the easy side . This makes it a game also suitable for beginners.
There are morphing items to collect as well as screen parts and collectibles.
I played the trial and going to buy it now !

not sure how i got the collector's edition but i did. i got to play the bonus content. it is a game about trying to figure how a monster wound up inside of two young people and to destroy it without destroying the people. there has always been more games in the series. has a custom level and interactive map and good hint system
