Looks like little Billy has gone missing again! Even though this family has seen its fair share of ghostly encounters and paranormal troubles, Brandon chooses to send his son Billy, to a Boarding School that had experienced some questionable paranormal activity. The Evergreen Mansion was completely burned to the ground just five years ago, killing the entire Mansfield family. Rumors spread through the school even faster than the flames did, rumors of a ghostly apparition, rumors of the Lady in White, rumors that Laura Mansfield has returned! Is it a coincidence that a fire broke out at the Boarding School that once was the Mansfield Mansion, the same mansion that burned to the ground? Is it a coincidence that Billy and his best friend Sarah, disappeared on the night of the fire? One thing's for sure, the Lady in White has a message that's clear, "Don't touch the children!"
Grim Tales is one of my favorite storylines, I own and have played all 12 previous games. Although The White Lady isn't one of the best games in the series, it's still an awesome game. The storyline in this game is just a little too familiar, and the HOP's are a bit dull, but the puzzles are in abundance to help even out the game. I'm not sure why they chose to have Brandon's oldest son Billy, as the victim again, but perhaps the two storylines intertwine after the demo. In this Collector's Edition, there are Collectible Emblems, Morphing Objects and Portraits that give a background history about various areas of the Mansfield Mansion.
Anna Gray is a Private Detective with a unique ability to travel back in time. All she needs is a personal item from the victim, and she's whisked away, back in time, before the tragedy occurred. This part is never fully explained and I have sooo many questions! Does Anna actually disappear when she time travels, or does she just stand there looking all weird? How does Anna always manage to time travel to the perfect time frame, does she ever go back too far or not far enough? If all she has to do is touch a personal item to initiate the time travel, how does she keep from time traveling when she touches other items, does she wear gloves? A trip to the museum could be a nightmare for poor Anna! All questions aside, well, there is another unanswered question, does Anna take Daddy Richard's skull with her everywhere she goes, or does she just pop his skull into her purse, only when there's an investigation?
As I stated earlier, the Hidden Object Scenes aren't very creative, but honestly, this is a feature that needs to either be phased out, or reverted back to the good ole days when objects were actually "hidden" Nowadays, the HO's are just huge junkpiles, or cluttered items. The objects are all in plain sight, not cleverly blended into a normal scene. The HO's in this demo are mostly Interactive List finds, but there are also Silhouetted Shape finds, and uncovering Pairs of identical objects.
The Mini Games are entertaining, ranging from super simple to medium difficulty. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Assemble a puzzle by correctly placing torn fragments.
2) Move all dowels through their corresponding holes using directional arrows on the dowels.
3) Use clue to enter the code on the panel.
4) Place sliders next to their corresponding images, sliders can only move clockwise along the tracks.
5) Complete the photo album pictures by placing the correct piece from the left and place on the right.
6) Hit the apple target by clicking when the sliders are within the green zone.
7) Light all the circles around the board by matching 3 or more identical tiles in a column to remove them.
8) Reconstruct a diary page by selecting a piece of the page and placing it in an adjacent empty space, pieces can't move over each other.
9) Use the clue shown to land on the correct symbols using left and right directional buttons to look through the different symbols.
10) Select directional arrows to move the character through the maze, searching for levers to open other parts of the maze.

Please to see he is hanging in there to help his daughter Anna. This is a well-executed ghostly game that does not disappoint. The storyline is, as always to me, intriguing. The fun factor is justly done; there is always something to do. The visual and the sound effects are beautifully done just right. The level of challenge is just right for me, not too hard, but doable enough to figure out without skipping. The hidden object puzzles are as always fun to play and intriguing. I like the different time travel modes and chasing the Woman in White. I knew this game was going to be good, and I purchased it immediately after playing the demo to the end. Solving this mystery case entails a lot of excitement, spooky fun, and intriguingly grim music, and beautiful scenes. Show less

Archives has 15 mini-games and 15 hops to replay. The Secret Room has morph items to collect and you can't collect them until they are morphed into the thing you need to collect. They have 4 Dolls, 8 Clown Masks, 12 Skulls, 20 Magic Balls, 16 School Bags and A White Lady.

Who in their right mind does that anyway? Anna Gray, of course!! But I will say, in this game, I hated the skull as my "helper" and Richard Gray's voice could not have been more annoying. It seemed much harder for me to understand this time. Has it always been so "garbled"?

The story was intriguing and Ladies in White usually have a good ghost tale attached to their death, at least in the books I have read. So I'm anxious to see the whole story unfold. Plus, except for a few, Grim Tales have always provided a quality game with enough entertainment to satisfy my needs.
Didn't care much for the demo though. There were so many things to unlock and so many misplaced keys and emblems. I was worried not enough time would be left for enjoying the game, but it finally came together.
The graphics were just okay which usually they are much better. This time they were more like a comic book in some parts, but it didn't distract from the game. The color was very good and the scenery wasn't dismal, but typical of boarding schools. I imagine this one has secret doors and passages since it was once a mansion in it's bygone days.
I appreciated the simple jump map. There were 4 game modes from which to choose. I think that is a great thing, because then everyone can enjoy the game, no matter what your skill level. I personally love it so I can adjust the hint and skip reload times.
The puzzles were good, just a few in the demo, and they were not too difficult. I think there was one that slowed me down a little. Surprisingly, the HOPs were nothing special and held no challenge, at least for me, but they were still fun.
There was an average amount of extras including morphs, emblems to collect and a secret room. I did not see any morphs in the demo, maybe they were difficult to spot in this game. I always love having the bonus chapter, especially if it ties in well with the main story.
I love Elephant Games and the Anna Gray investigations. This will be a purchase when another good sale pops up.

I just got through playing this game plus another CE, I purchased today and am very tired. My parents are very old, in their 90's and had to take care of their needs and my own household needs as well.

5 Chapters plus a Bonus Chapter: Strategy Guide: 40 Pages
OVERVIEW: What is the mystery behind the Mansfield mansion and the family tragedy echoing through its halls? Anna Grey, our time traveler, has returned bringing more family drama! This time she is sleuthing at Evergreen Boarding school where her great nephew, Billy, has gone missing after a fire engulfed the school. Shortly before the fire both he and his friend, Sarah, reported seeing the wispy image of a woman in white floating among the rafters of this former mansion. Could this be the ghost of the former owner, Laura Mansfield? Go back in time with Anna and solve the mysteries of this mansion turned boarding school while searching for her nephew. You will again get some ghostly help from the afterlife via Anna’s father, Richard.
This was an automatic purchase for me. This is another great game in the series for Elephant Games. This is one of my favorite series from this developer. I find this game much better than some of the others. The story is a nice Victorian-style ghostly delight. There are plenty of activities to engage in including creatively designed puzzles with a few more challenging ones as well. It is obvious that Elephant spent more time in puzzle development in this game than with the HOP scenes, which are for the most part rather lackluster. Richard Grey, Anna’s father, returns to help you in this game. The collectibles are emblems and pictures. There are morphing objects and they are not that easy to locate. The BFG blurb concerning the game states you can replay the HOP scenes and puzzles; however, I did not see this feature offered in the menu, but it could be in the Secret Room.
HOP SCENES: For me, they are the weakest part of the game. They are standard fare with few creative features within them. The demo includes lists of items, silhouette, and replacement scenes. There is a matching scene which is somewhat novel.
PUZZLES. The puzzles are exquisite in this game. They do vary in style and difficulty. There are a few puzzles which are slightly difficult; however, there are also many which are easier as well; however, I did not find any puzzles which were extremely easy. Most require some time to complete. The ones in the demo are standard ones we see in many other games – sliders, lock puzzles, logic puzzles, and the two listed below which I feel are exceptionally well-designed.
FAVORITE PUZZLES: (A) In the demo there is a unique variation of a Match-3 puzzle which uses a circle with four inner rings which must be rotated to create the matches. With every match of three (3) items, you light up a light from a series of lights surrounding the circle. Matching four (4) items results in a series of lights being lit up. (B) There is a maze puzzle in which you must lead Anna Grey to an exit. The maze is dark, only a small portion which is lit as she proceeds down the maze. Along the way you must search for levers to unlock doors with this maze. A very creatively designed puzzle.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom
Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is provided at the beginning of the game
19 Achievements
Collect 40 Emblems and 14 pictures
22 Morphing objects – not too easy to locate
Replay HOP scenes and Puzzles (According to the BFG game blurb; however, I did not see it listed in the menu)

HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE
HOP SCENES:

C. Slider puzzle. Slide tokens so they are next to the appropriate image. Rating: 3
D. Physical puzzle. Shoot down apple using two slider bars when each enters a “green” zone. Rating: 2
