Scientific trivia, historical facts, dangerous situations, extraordinary settings are promised when the game loads.
And these promises were not empty, the game exceeded my expectations.

I finished it today, could have played on for a couple of days, but well.

Usually I don’t let the remarks „I must hurry, time is running out“ stress me and think, ah well, it’s a game, they will wait for me.
In „The Curse of Mithridates“ I had to play on and on, to find out if I was able to gather the ingredients for the antidote and save my colleagues from the poisoning.

So I rushed from Turkey to Prague, to Malta, the Sandwich Islands and India, before going back to Turkey. It was very well done to see the agent getting tired, not concentrated, almost failing.

At times I had to stop the game and do a bit of research to find out about Mithridates VI and his fascination with poison, whether a clepsydra really existed, about Grytviken and more. At times remarks like the „at least we aren’t the only ones having a bad hair day“ or the one „not exactly a red carpet, but if it won’t kill me that’s good enough“ made me laugh out loud.

The HO scenes were varied, interesting and very enjoyable. I found the puzzles outstanding, some were new to me and not always on the easy side.

The main story was concluded well, the Bonus Chapter was an nice extension.

Can’t wait to get on the next „Hidden Expedition“! Show less

A SLOW START ISN’T ALWAYS A BAD THING!

When I played the beta for this latest Hidden Expedition the Curse of Mithridates, I honestly fell asleep. Well I tried again a few days ago and the same thing happened so I was either too tired or the game was just downright boring. Hating to give up and with a good sale today I ended up purchasing the game. When I started playing a strange thing happened – I ended up thinking this is far better than I thought it would be. By the time that I got out of Turkey and into Malta I was becoming convinced that the game was actually better than I thought it would be. As of the time I write this review, I have almost finished the full game and have to admit that my first impression was totally wrong and this is an excellent new Hidden Expedition game and, in fact, it is much better that the last few offerings in the series.

I am not going to bother writing about the storyline or all of the other basics as others have covered that by now in their reviews but let me just say that a game that started out as an archaeologic find has me now globetrotting to save my fellow H.E.L.P. members. It is a fun adventure with lots of great HOPS thrown in for good measure. My only complaint is that some of the puzzles were downright confusing mainly because the instructions left a lot to be desired. Fortunately, purchasing the full game I had my trusty strategy guide on hand and that did offer a bit of help in solving or at least figuring out what I was supposed to do to solve some puzzles. Many of the puzzles were straight forward and easy while others were scratching my head difficult. All in all, there is something for everyone in the game.

One of the reasons that I think so many gamers might be down on this game is because it really does get off to a slow start. I have recommended that the developer try to put a bit more forward movement into the beginning of their games and that might generate a bit more enthusiasm on the part of their audience. When a game moves so slowly and is bogged down by so many little items in the beginning the gamer wants to say enough already and gives up, or goes to take a nap – anything to get away from the snail pace action. The only thing I can recommend is that you stick with that very slow beginning and then enjoy the excitement as the game truly gets going.

Since I am almost at the end of the game I am now looking forward to playing the bonus chapter that promises to be just as good as the full game. As always, even though I love this game I recommend that you give the demo a try (please stick it out to the end of the demo) to see if this is a game you will enjoy as much as I do. Happy gaming! I am a fan of Hidden Expedition games. Some are better than others. This one falls into the better category for me.

It took me about 45 minutes to play through the demo but that was with me skipping two puzzles. After watching the way to solve them (one of the things I love about these games!) I'll definitely try them again (because I'm not going to remember the way to do it by the time I ...Show more

Looks like this is going to be either a you love it or you hate it game based on the reviews. As I always say, to each their own. I personally like this game and will be purchasing it. I'm glad I don't go off of reviews alone - there are too many games that others have loved that I hate and vice versa.

I'm a casual player and this game hits all the right notes for me. The morphs within the hidden object scenes are a challenge to me, because I want to find all of the items so I can get the achievements, such as, finding 10 items in 10 seconds, etc. As I played the demo, I became increasingly caught up and before I knew it the demo ended.
This is a game I am definitely going to purchase and I say, Eipix, keep up the good work! Show less

I have always loved this game series. Fun to play, lots of things to do, plenty of puzzles and hos. Long game and you get to learn about things as you play. How could these games be boring?

I always enjoy Eipix and don't hesitate to buy a new game, but this game had three really bad reviews and I hesitated. I downloaded the sample game before buying it and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the game very much and would recommend it highly.

I have played all of the Hidden Expedition games and loved them all (vary relaxing), the morphing objects and collectibles are fun and the graphics and sound are great. Always look forward to the next one.

I played the entire game and the bonus game and all extras. Really enjoyed the storyline, including the bonus game (made sense, not an after thought like many). Great visuals from Eipix as usual. This was an enthralling game and I learned quite a bit about Mithradates, and his conflict with the Romans. I also enjoyed the storyline about Magellan. The Voice Acting was excellent, and HOPs were good as usual. This game also contains a fun bonus chapter that ties up a certain loose end from the main game, so I would recommend paying extra for the collector's edition.

I recommend this game!
