The player needs to acquire lots of stuff either by merely picking things up, or by completing HO segments and some FROG ( fractured objects ) . Lots of these are cleverly hidden particularly in the FROG scenes. As is usually the case in HOPA, Amy must perform tasks seemingly not in keeping with the story. An example is her aid to the aforementioned Hanu.
There is lots of jumping around in 7 Roses, a jump map would be nice but this game is really old school. I do enjoy that since it is a throw back game given its style, there are no morphs, no collectibles, no animal helpers, etc.
I am intrigued enough with the story to probably use a free game code to add this to my personal arsenal of games.
The last 2 serial games ( a Dark Dimension and a Surface ) were both IMO seriously lacking the depth that most of its precursors provided.
For players who can appreciate a game with a bygone feel, 7 Roses just may fit the bill.

Before she releases the cradle to the currents of the stream, she places her medallion gently next to her and softly whispers, "I will always be with you, I love you Amy!" As the cradle begins to drift she watches her mother succumb to the powerful blow of lightning from a dark ominous figure...... Darkness! Amy has been raised by a kind and gentle Elder for several years, and he fears that Darkness has returned. He has sent Amy on a journey to save the Tree of Life from Darkness. This quest is not an easy journey, she will have to help many others along the way, before facing her fears from the Darkness of her nightmares.
This is an okay game with no frills, substandard graphics, and a storyline that offers nothing new. It's decent enough to use a credit on however, if you have one that's about to expire, or perhaps taking advantage of today's sale, it's not horrible, it's just not a fantastic, gotta have type of game. There are 3 available modes of difficulty, Easy, Normal and Hard. There are no voiceovers other than the opening trailer, otherwise, you'll have to read dialog boxes from each character you meet.
The Hidden Object Scenes are pretty much the same, and most of the scenes have such basic graphics, it can make it difficult to recognize some objects. There are mostly Progressive, Interactive Silhouetted Shape finds where you find an item that matches the silhouetted shape shown, and then use that item back in the scene interactively to expose the next item and so forth. There are also Fragmented object finds and Listed item finds, and some of the scenes are doubled up as you revisit past scenes, for another HOS in the same place.
The Mini Games are decent as well, although none of them were new or variations of an older favorite. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Enter the coordinates on the telescope by selecting the symbol to change, and then turning a handle to scroll through different symbols until you have the correct symbols according to the clue you found earlier.
2) Sharpen the image in the telescope by adjusting 4 knobs.
3) Rotate the rings to complete the image of the Tree of Life.
4) Rotate 4 sections of a keyhole frame until they line up with the keyhole on the door.
5) Guide the two pearls to the appropriate holes at the bottom of a stone maze using left and right rotational arrows.
6) Remove the poisonous vines by matching the correct ends with each other.
7) Swap books to form a complete image on the book spines.
I wasn't blown away by anything in this adventure, however for a Standard Version game, it's okay. There are no bells and whistles, no achievements or over the top features, but it has a decent storyline and somewhat of an entertainment factor worthy of a credit in my opinion, but give it a try and see for yourself is this game will float your boat, or is is cradle? I guess what turns me off the most is it's length, which after my 60 min demo, I doubt it took another 60 minutes to complete the whole thing. That to me is such a ripoff and I'm so glad I didn't have to pay for the experience. The HOs were OK, nothing new, and there were puzzles sprinkled throughout the game, some easy, some not so easy. The characters were freaky looking, very poorly done, and there were no voiceovers, which surprised me because of the size of the file. My recommendation is, if you don't get it for free, you probably will want to pass. Show less

I’ve recently been revisiting some of the games I have purchased in past years as I have become so bored with games that basically have become nothing but cookie-cutter serials with the same theme over and over and over again. 7 Roses A Darkness Rises is a game I purchased in 2016 so it was only a year ago and I suspect that it is a game I picked up with a coupon code.
Although 7 Roses a Darkness Rises follows that favorite BFG theme of some dark evil wanting to take over the world I still found the artwork beautiful and there did not seem to be a lot of hand-holding something that I have recently come to dislike in HOPA games. As the game begins we see a young woman who is saying goodbye to her precious infant in order to save the child from a dark wizard. As the child gently sails away from the river bank her mother puts an amulet in her cradle. Fast forward and Amy is now a young woman who has been raised by an elder. Amy lives a rather idyllic life aside from those haunting nightmares but soon she may learn the reason why her dreams are so haunting. We play the game as Amy and now we must undertake a journey to save the land from the Darkness that is now returning.
The graphics are lovely but for me the game would only open in a standard resolution and would not stretch to fit my large screen monitor. Unfortunately I did have other technical difficulties that made the game very difficult to play. The game does have a journal that is something I personally enjoy in my games. In the “old days” every game came with an excellent journal or diary but those were soon replaced by videos and very few games offer a wonderful diary now.
All in all, 7 Roses is not a terrible game it is simply one that didn’t work as well on my computer. It is unfortunate because it looks like it is a terrific little game. Even though it is one I didn’t get to enjoy, please try the demo to see if 7 Roses a Darkness Rises is a game that you will enjoy. Happy Gaming! Show less

The puzzles and tasks were totally unchallenging
The navigation was dire and there were so many clicks to start with that it put me off rapidly, I understand you have to point and click but to that extent, wow!
The pointers were not great especially when you had to find small objects, also in one of the challenges you had to put objects out of the way to retrieve a specific object and despite doing it properly you could still not grab that object unless you move the others in a way the developers had in mind, so it was very illogical...
For all the reasons above , I will pass on purchasing that game, not for me!

Very old-fashioned game. No map and only a hint key and a journal. The journal does help somewhat, but there is annoying statement "nothing to do here" which, of course, is not helpful. You must find the hidden objects shown at the bottom and then they assemble together. The graphics seem very "big" and not well drawn.
I don't recommend this game.
