The first thing to know is that the demo part is not enough to get a sense of this game.

Secondly, that the English translation is quirky seems to put off some people and if anything amuse and charm others. I belong to the second group. There are a smile or two along the way from this and no confusion of meaning really. And perhaps the quirkiness adds to the sense of originality in the game.

Thirdly it seems there is a platinum edition of the game. I wonder if it has a strategy guide and options on the timer for hint or skip functions and if so I do wish Big Fish would offer that version.

And a fourth thing that remains with me after playing the game through is that I liked the characters and felt an interest in them in a way which I have hardly liked any characters in recent games. The plot may be in some ways original, but more than that the journey through the plot plays and feels original and that I am going to dare say is because the game has a heart , it has the possibility of being cared about and in fact liked.
I like this game! hey! give it a chance and I bet you will too! Show less

WOW. Unpredictable! Now THIS is something different. This game is refreshing and not a cookie-cutter production. You're not fed the same expected scenarios and outcomes. Check it out! I loved this game so much I could play it and play it and PLAY IT! Even if the story had lasted another 10-20 hrs, I would have just kept looking forward to it! I was sad when it ended...How can I even express how RELAXING I found this game?

Another game with realistic items mixed in.! A game on the artsy side with great, relaxing, moody ambience. I'd say this is probably be going to be called 'old school' graphics by some? Yes, I love it! I'm so lucky! A rare gem indeed.

Something about the feel of the game reminded me of Azada in Libro, and a little of Empress of the Deep, not the content necessarily, but the FEEL of the game. There's something Anime too going on with an Elven warrior, during the cutscenes, but really it is... its own game.

Character interaction is limited, but I found the main character has too many same-ish still shots. Occasionally silly/non-logical solutions are included (but they just made me chuckle) and so it is worth trying your inventory items even when you think they wouldn't be helpful! The HOPS are ok, and a bit of fun. There are some benign grammatical errors here and there, but I just found it amusing - I found the sentence didn't quite make sense, but it was something you could easily figure out.

GRAPHICS - Widescreen or Fullscreen & a "Keep aspects ratio" option. Plus an added Brightness adjustment.
HOPS: Wordlists with some interactive thrown in – about 6-8. Hint recharge is same length as game difficulty chosen, so, if you choose intermediate difficulty, you'll get over a minute to wait for the HOPS too.

PUZZLES: All skippable. A selection.
SOUNDS - with 2 adjustments: with music on a separate control (very important!)

MAP: TRAVEL -Yes, but VERY RUDIMENTARY map. On all levels, the only map indicator is where you are currently at.
JOURNAL: NO
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 3 –NOT interchangeable.
HINT: The TREE of Gondor!! (You'll see). 45 SECONDS ON CASUAL, 1.20-ish ON INTERMEDIATE, NO HINT ON MOST DIFFICULT. Hint guides and leads you, but be aware that whatever you choose as your difficulty level, that recharge time applies to the HOPS too.

INVENTORY – Lockable
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. Neither lip-sync, nor lip movements. Voice-overs are mainly very good, but the main character I found was in a bit too much in the second half, without much variation in stance. Show less

This game has some similarities to the other Beyond game. I enjoy this game. I am not quite finished with the game but I can tell you it is another interesting HO to play. The graphics and story line are very good. There is a hint button if you get stuck. The game gives the appearance of being a spooky game. It is not. If it were I wouldn't bother with the game. As I write this review, it's so late that it's early, so I'll leave the descriptions of game play to what others have already written. I'll just say that this game is the reason I go back into my archive to pull up some of the older games to play again and again. It isn't taking itself too seriously. A perfect example is the HOS with the spider webs!

This is a definite buy for me, and if I understand correctly there's an earlier 'Beyond the Invisible' game that I plan to check out. Show less

Few Hidden Object games have had an impact on me such as this one. The sublime storyline, along with it's old style cartoonish graphics, thrills you from the very beginning to it's end. I strongly recommend it to people who love playing Hidden Object games.

I loved this game! It makes you use your brain, unlike so many other games where everything is handed to you on a silver platter, tied up in a pretty bow. I get so tired of playing hidden object games where nothing is hidden and even a 5-year-old could find the "hidden objects" very quickly. That's great for games targeted at kids, but not for adults that buy and play most of these ...Show more

That's great for games targeted at kids, but not for adults that buy and play most of these games.

There's no handholding. So if that's the kind of game you like, then this game will not be for you.

I personally wish there were more games out there like Beyond the Invisible. I recommend both this one and the first one also...that is if you can handle a challenge. Show less

I honestly think most folks don't know what a treasury of great tales BF has in these older games.
This one starts off like a police procedural, and ends up in the Elven lands with a (brief) epic battle.
There are enough hints to get you along but allows you to figure out things for yourself.
One thing to note is that when the hand appears click on it, because that means you can get or do ...Show more

One scene requires finding a record to put on a player and the game refers to it as a plate that all once owned. Ha! And then there was the electric hand dryer attached to the stone wall next to the medieval water feature. Ha! More to the point, the game play was sometimes quite unique and sometimes incomprehensible so I used the hint button more than I usually do, which is never. But I liked it. The mini-games were not the usual. You think they are-find the wires and reconnect the power-but then they twist to something odd. i'm a huge fan of whimsy so this game tickled me no end. Do try the demo. I'm sure it's not for everyone and maybe I liked it because I was in the mood. But if you're tired of the same old same old, this might give you an hour of fun. Show less

I totally disagree with the reviewer who stated the first game in this series was better. Darkness Came is, by far, so much more advanced than the first game.

There was nothing sick or disturbing in this game like there was in the first one. What's really great is that they added voice-overs which were well acted. Kudos to the developer for actually listening to all our previous feedback!

The graphics and puzzles were more advanced. And the story line actually made sense this time around, so I was interested enough to purchase the game and play it to the end. Please don't base Darkness Came's play ability on the low ratings you see. I recommend giving it a shot for the hour trial. Show less
