I'm sure reviews of this game will be VERY polarized; I, for one, loved this "slashing" type of game when I first played video games in the 80's... games like "Gateway To Apshai" comes to mind.

The graphics are GORGEOUS, with an art style combining paper/origami and top-notch computer animation.

I'm sure reviews of this game will be VERY polarized; I, for one, loved this "slashing" type of game when I first played video games in the 80's... games like "Gateway To Apshai" comes to mind.

The graphics are GORGEOUS, with an art style combining paper/origami and top-notch computer animation.

Games like this (and the 2D role-playing games from years ago) rely very strongly on the story; here, the voice-overs seem fantastic. It's a game genre rarely found on BFG, so I think many people will be turned off by the volume of reading/listening and will simply want to go-go-go and play the quests.

I'm not sure what the "casual edition" monicker applies to this release (compared to the "standard" edition.)

I spent my hour listening, exploring, slashing, learning about cards (typical games use weaponry, armor, spells, etc.) and LOVED it.

I'm worried that if I buy this I'll just sit for hours at a time and be completely submerged in this game. HECK YES!!!

No doubt about it... I'm buying this!

Please give the demo a chance; I think people who enjoy adventure games will find something interesting here if you stick with it at LEAST 20 minutes to learn the basics. Show less

Oh WOW!! This reminds me so much of Diablo 1, which I loved. I've come out of the demo at 30 mins so I can buy it, but I'm leaving this review ahead of buying the game as once it's bought I'm going straight back into the dungeon and I'm not coming out for a week - and even then, I'll probably make a new profile and do it all again :D

It's an explore the dungeon / fight the baddies / level up when you have enough points / collect the goodies game.

The intro was great too, it is a paper world in a pop-up book - and the town parts are done that way too, but if you don't like pop-up books don't be put you off, the dungeon parts are done like in Diablo.

Everything worked perfectly (no crashes or other problems) there's a map you can switch on by pressing the 'tab' key, you can customise a lot of settings, there are people in the town to help / advise / sell you stuff and if you want a good laugh, check the 'expert' stats tab - one of them is the percentage chance of getting diarrhoea, and some of the others are equally strange - but the one at the bottom does give clarity, lol.

Off to buy now - anyone who likes Diablo and similar dungeon games, do try the demo at least, as you might like it as much as I do. :) Show less

I absolutely love, love, love this game and everything about it! I am a huge fan of the Diablo-series, and this game reminds me so much of Diablo 1. Brings back many fond memories.

I absolutely love, love, love this game and everything about it! I am a huge fan of the Diablo-series, and this game reminds me so much of Diablo 1. Brings back many fond memories.

You play as a paper player in a paper dungeon. You can choose the lenght of each quest in the dungeon as you play along, which adds for great fun! I always chose the longest ones available to me and the game lasted me around three days.

For equpiments and the sorts, you use cards you find along the way in the dungeon. These can also be upgraded in the town. In the town you will also find a healer, a magic cauldron where you can buy the special prizes you find in the dungen and more.

Some reviewers find this game too complicated, but all games are not for everyone. If you like the rpg-genre, try out this game! If you are new, give it a shot. Show less

The game is so cute - it's a paperverse with lovely characters and many kind of demons. The village and it's inhabitants help you with potions, upgrades and tell entertaining stories. You have the choice of 3 characters (Knight - Thief and a Mage) and each have different abilities. I've play them all and it was super fun each time.

The strategy is great and the gameplay is addictive. The voices and the sounds are good. No bugs or problem either. The're are plenty of humorous things like the characters bio and the Boss names : )

I wish they do another game (it was supposed to be a series) but the site of the developers seems abandoned : ( Nevertheless this is truly a good game and i will replay it for sure.

It reminds me somewhat of a game from the 90's, "Mystic Towers," another looking down from the top format, with various monsters and multiple weapons with which to fight them. As a female senior citizen, I found this challenging game to be a refreshing change from the usual offerings at Big Fish. It reminds me somewhat of a game from the 90's, "Mystic Towers," another looking down from the top format, with various monsters and multiple weapons with which to fight them. Although that game took the player up close and personal with the old Baron and the fantastic monsters, Book of Demons presents more remote combat situations in exciting detail. There's no bothersome inventory of armor or weapons to carry around as in some RPG games, and at the top margin are icons to return the player back to town without having to backtrack through all the rooms already played. There's also a map to help the player keep track of the layout of the Cathedral.

What I like about games of this sort is the way they stimulate the brain, helping people of my age group to avoid what I call "brain rot," which is a serious concern for some of us.

The time for the demo ran out before I expected. It will definitely be on my list to purchase soon. Show less

Flashback to the original Diablo, this game has all the fun characters ( and maybe some of the voices) of the origianl game.. I surely hope there is an extended or sequel to this.. I sat down to start and played solid for 2 days..LOL. Loved it!!

My one and only complaint is you can't sell unwanted magic stuff. Given the cost of slots for items, being able to sell unwanted items would be nice. But not a show stopper.

A word for those who play, running away sometime is required, keep an eye on your health points (red heart in the left corner) and if its gets green in it remember to click on it right away -- that means you are poisoned. Clicking on it will cancel out the poisoning.

And I highly recommend every time you level up put the points into your health until you are at least 30. Its nice to have the mana as you need it for items/cards but health will make sure you live long enough to get to use them.

Boss fights -- these are not to be taken lightly! They take multiple rounds of killing (i.e. getting their heart down to 0), can toss magic, summon other monsters and are immune until you kill all the monsters are killed, oh and they have shields which you have to break before you can hurt them. Pay attention to the circle icons above the monster -- those are what it is doing and you need to click/hold down the left mouse button to dispel those spells/summoning. I didn't figure that for a while -- I must have missed that hint.

Final note, the cauldron gets really expensive very quickly -- a mistake I made, If you can resist going there until at least the end of the section you are in, it won't be so bad cost wise. In this case a section is 1 to 7 levels.

I will definitely try all thing character options, I am using the warrior first -- to learn the mechanics and get a sense of what I have to do.

Finally a hack and slash game from BFG. It's been a long time coming. I love this type of game and have considered joining another game site that offers this type of game. Let's have more of this type of game, BFG. It will keep me from purchasing like games elsewhere. I recommend this game to anyone who is tired of Hidden Objects, Match 3, and roam all over the place looking for whatevers.
