The first thing you're likely to notice is the music. Ahhh, the music! ♥ ♥ I absolutely adore the soundtrack - it adds such a compelling feeling of magic and wonder to the game.
The story is not like what we experienced in Faerie Solitaire. This time we find "shards" of lore that give us a lot of information about the world and denizens that the devs have created.
This is a match-2 (mahjong-style) solitaire game, but unlike every other game of this type that I've played, there can be real strategy involved. Sure, you CAN just mindlessly click on matches if you want to zone out, but there is so SO much more to FSH than that!
The in-game tutorial is excellent, but I'll give you an overview:
During Adventure Mode, you'll visit 40 locations - each of which has 9 hands - and free a trapped faerie at the end of the ninth level.
Match two cards of the same value until you remove all of the cards from the playing field. You have a deck with three foundation spots, plus a "spare" space and the ability to earn wild cards.
Making matches earns you Pure Gold, and at the bottom of some piles you'll find resources, eggs, bags of gold and sometimes even potions!
The deck can be re-dealt once, but it will cost you 1,000 Pure Gold. After that, you'll have to restart the hand (you do keep all rewards you've earned.)
But wait, there's more to it than that, and here's where the strategy comes in. Combos! When you match two like-cards of the same color, you'll start a combo. Keep matching same-colored cards to get bonuses. Suit doesn't matter, as long as the cards are both red or both black, your combo will continue until one of two things happens:
You match two cards with different colors
You draw from the deck after reaching a 7+ combo.
There are four reward tiers for combos, so go for the highest you can get! As an added bonus, any combo of 7 or more will earn you a FREE redeal!
Another reason to go for combos is that it will fill up your Wild Card meter much faster than non-combo matches. Each time it fills up, you'll earn another wild card. You can have an unlimited amount of Wilds, but the meter will take longer to fill for each additional card.
Your spare space costs gold to use, and goes up in price each time you utilize on that level.
Once a location has been completed, you'll be able to go back to it at any time to do a 'Quickplay'. Replaying a location via Quickplay costs 1,000 Pure Gold, but there are higher resource rewards, as well as a Loot Box to open at the end (instead of freeing a faerie). Be careful, though! If you fail a hand during Quickplay, you'll have to pay a new entry fee and start the location over from scratch!
You will not lose progress in Adventure Mode if you decide to Quickplay a location.
Pets and Resources:
As you progress through the game, you'll find eggs, magic, stone and wood. Make an egg active by selecting it in the Pets menu, and it will earn experience as you play. Once it's reached full EXP, you'll be able to hatch it to see what's inside.
After your pet(s) has hatched, it will need to earn experience 'til it reaches the stage where it can evolve. EXP is not enough, though, and that's where the resources come in! Each pet requires a different amount of magic, stone, wood and gold in order to evolve.
As a side note, I never wanted to evolve my pets in Faerie Solitaire because they were so cute young, but a nice little BONUS that the devs added is that once you've evolved your pet, you can swap the picture back to what it looked like as a young'un by simply clicking on the pet's pic~!
There are 44 in-game and Steam achievements, and while they come easily at first, you're really going to have to work for some of the others!
New Game+
Once you finish the 40 locations in Adventure Mode, you'll enter NG+. I'll tell you right now that one of the achievements is to reach New Game+3, but don't let that scare you! This game is so incredibly addictive that it was never a slog for me. As a matter of fact, I just started NG+4 on my main profile a few days ago! :sunny:
A great benefit of NG+ is that the drop rate increases, which will really help when trying to get all of those pets evolved!
Strategy:
Sometimes I want to try to clear every card on the playing field without drawing from the deck, other times I try to get the very highest combo possible, without thinking about how I'll pass the level. Everyone will come up with their own style, and whether you choose to play it loosely and just click on everything, or whether you want to do a self-imposed nightmare mode (no spares and no wilds) is up to you!
Final Thoughts:
It didn't take long for Faerie Solitaire Harvest to win me over completely. This is a magical, lovingly-polished gem of a game that I absolutely cannot stop playing. My highest recommendation for this one, even if - like me - you think that you don't like match-2 solitaire games! Show less
I recommend this game!

I agree that matching the suits is hard, but that makes this a challenging solitaire, instead of an easy one. The player gets points for every match anyway; the better the match, the higher the points. Just doing the demo, I earned one creature and another egg. I find this game fun and entertaining, as well as challenging. Give the demo a try.

About time there is a new match 2 solitaire game and it's fun too, I am so glad, I've been waiting a long time for a new style match 2 solitaire. I am so tired of the same old higher lower games. If you like Match 2 Solitaire you will like this one. Thank you game designers for a cool match 2 solitaire. I just Love It...

I am a long-time HOP/Puzzle player, but have lately been branching out into clutters and other types. Mahjong solitaire is a first for me and I am loving this one!
The method of play was easy to pick up, and I am discovering little strategic methods of increasing my scores on each round. The colors and music are pleasant and soothing; the storyline can be followed along with, or not, without detracting from the gameplay, and the pets and fairies are cute without being 'cutesy'.
There are plenty of locations to play through, and they can be played many times if you want to increase your points to help your pets evolve and achieve other bonuses (I'm still learning about them all). The explanation of gameplay seemed a bit overwhelming to me when I first started, but the beauty of this game is you can just jump right in and play -- there are no penalties, and the help section will get you through.
This should appeal to most ages and all skill levels. You can play as fast or slow as you please, and it is easy to get right back into it if you put it aside for any length of time.
If you are looking for a nice relaxing game that still offers some challenge and rewards, give this one a try! I hope there will be more of this type from this developer! Show less

I have been waiting forever for this game. I was surprised at the match two version but still love it. I played the first version forever until I got all the eggs and am going to do it for this version also. That slot for moving a card off the main grid is well worth it. I had trouble getting through many of the hands without that slot. Excellent game!

Unfortunately, the Solitaire game itself was rather dull and boring, they were stingy with the deck cards and steep with the prices you have to pay for almost every move you make!
This is a Match 2 Solitaire game that doesn't reward you with much unless you match 2 cards of the same suit back to back, which doesn't happen a lot. Matching multiple pairs of the same color fills the Mana Meter which is how you earn most of the points, very few points are added for making mismatched colors, this is great in theory, but waiting for those perfect pairs is too risky given the fact that you'll most like lose a perfect score (removing all cards) after running out of deck cards. Deck cards are turned over on to 3 slots and there is a 4th slot to place a card of choice to be used later, BUT, there is a cost for taking advantage of the slot. There are a ton of cards on the board to remove, but you only get a handful of deck cards, you do get one Redeal once the deck has been depleted IF you made a combo of +7 on the previous round, otherwise, it will cost you a whopping 1000 points.
The feature that piqued my interest the most was uncovering Mysterious (and very colorful) Eggs during gameplay. Once discovered, you must "Activate" the Egg and wait patiently for the notification that you are the proud parent of a bouncing baby ??? once the egg Hatches and evolves. You will also randomly discover Lore, unlock Talents, and activate Valor to make the game more difficult (which probably means you'll only get 10 deck cards instead of 12??)
I loved the concept, I love fantasy games about fairies, dragons, elves, etc. and I probably would have instantly purchased this game if it wasn't a Mahjong style match 3 game. Everything about this game was right up my alley except for the solitaire levels :( Show less

The premise sounded interesting, the game was not. This is not a solitaire game, it's mahjong with a twist - which is fine if that's what you like to play.

With many fun features this game has the potential to be a lot of fun and some players will find it so. For me there were a few downsides. Talents were extremely expensive, meaning that you'd have to be incredibly lucky to accumulate enough gold to buy more than one or two. For example, first level skill for one talent tree cost 10,000 on another tree it was 50,000. If you try the game you'll see that unless you are very skillful, these amounts are quite high.
Then, you cannot replay a hand. There is no option to replay a hand until you finish all 10 hands. If you want to replay a section, meaning all 10 hands, it will cost you 1,000 gold. You can easily burn through all your gold attempting to get gold stars on every hand.
While the card designs are fanciful and fun, they are just a bit too small for easy playing. Moreover, several of the cards are very close in design and color (the 2 and 9, and jack and 10, for instance) to make it easy to tell them apart. I found this slowed down gameplay.
This is a difficult game with some side features to make it a bit more fun. I wouldn't recommend this game to casual solitaire players. But if you want a challenge, this game should provide it. Show less

It's an ok game if you like match two. It is not solitaire. Visually it was good. I kept looking for a point to the game other than releasing a fairy now and then. Didn't find it. Played the first hour just to give it a fair chance. It was a no buy for me but if you like Match 2 you may enjoy it.
