What an incredible Hidden Object game! This is the most unusual, unique, non-linear HO game I have ever played and Yustas has just raised the bar on how a game should be done! I haven't been this entertained by a game in a long, long time. Looking For Aliens is Light-years ahead of all those cookie-cutter games Big Fish has been offering lately and I strongly urge this developer to delve into the Hidden Object market because this game proves that THIS genre is actually their wheelhouse!

At first, you may be slightly intimidated because it's not easy to find the pictured items. Some of the objects, characters, and aliens are hidden in plain sight, some objects are blended into a crowd of people that look almost identical, others may require going on a hunting expedition that requires dragging the extended scene around.

You can interact with almost everything...in fact, you'll need to check under boulders, open doors, boxes, and hatches to find the objects and/or aliens shown at the bottom of the screen. There are tons of achievements to earn for various interactions as well, such as eating 100+ food items, turning on monitors, etc. so click on everything and have fun with it! (there are no penalties for clicking and no timer, it's designed to put a smile on your face) Yustas has added some really clever interactions and their imagination and inner creativeness shines through in this incredible game.

If you can't find an object, you can click on that object's picture (bottom of the screen) to get a Text-based hint. I absolutely love this feature, the hint doesn't take you to the exact location the item can be found, it simply gives you a clue as to where the item can be found...don't worry, the clues are very helpful if you pay attention to what the clue says! I also love that there are no penalties for using the hint clues, it's designed to be fun... 100% entertainment!

Each level requires you to find a certain number of objects to unlock the next level, which is shown in the lower right corner. Once you meet these criteria, you can opt to play the next level even if you haven't found all the pictured items. The Lock icon will change to a UFO when the next level can be accessed and the Level Monitors (level map icons) will show how many objects remain on each level. Objects that have a Star next to them indicate you must find every object in a set, for example, the pictured object may show a lady standing next to 4 tires so you'll have to find and click on 4 different tires to recreate the picture shown.

Collectibles:
Bonus Objects are available on each level and are shown on the bottom Left Corner. When you find all Bonus Items, you will earn a new Collectible Card (25 Bonus Cards total) This is an optional feature and you do not have to locate these items to proceed in the game. I think it would have been kind of cool if these Bonus Items were Morphing Objects to give them a bit more challenge??

Unlike most Hidden Object Games that have large, out-of-proportion objects slapped onto a stationary scene, Looking For Aliens is a moving scene with aliens and humans constantly moving around. The objects you search for not only tell a story, but they are proportionate and incredibly well hidden, it's almost like a "Spot The Difference" Interactive Hidden Object hybrid and practically impossible to describe!

Please give the demo a try long enough to get the hang of the unique type of gameplay. We tend to be critical when a game comes along that is different than what we have become accustomed to but I truly believe "The Truth Is Out There" and if you keep an open mind you will see that Yustas has put a lot of time and effort into making this unique and incredibly creative game!

This Collector's Edition has 4 Wallpapers, 5 Music Soundtracks, 59 Achievements, 25 Collectible Bonus Cards, and 5 Bonus Levels.

Granted, I am so tired of these games where the player starts off in a vehicle on a dark and stormy night until they crash into a tree or ditch, and then wander around, not saving the screwdriver or hammer for other parts of the game (and, if a developer can explain why a character wouldn't carry around a couple of simple tools to solve a problem, that would be appreciated). This game is funny, light and reminiscent of Snarkbusters (or, at the very least, Leather Goddesses of Phobos). It's difficult enough to be fun but easy enough to not get frustrated.

Now, back to the game. If my husband comes to look for me, just let him know I've been kidnapped by aliens to solve puzzles. Show less

This is an odd HOG where instead of having words on a list to cross off by finding their associated objects, you have a list of pictures. The entire game is made up of these replayable HO scenes, one scene per level (roughly 25, with 5 of those being bonus CE levels).

What makes this different is that the scenes are huge: you have to move around the board to find everything and you do the latter by interacting with objects, people and animals. Very few objects are in plain sight. There are lots gidgets and gadgets to turn off and on, nooks and crannies to investigate, people/aliens to tap, cows to poke, rocks to move and so on! It seems like you can interact with just about everything. There are achievements you can unlock by interacting with objects or collecting objects that are not on the list.

I really like this game because it's a mix of being old school and new. It's not an adventure, though there's a funny story that serves as a backdrop and can be skipped.

The music is quite funny, in a cheesy, 1960s Little Green Men sort of way and works perfectly with the artwork. The characters are amusing and the humor is cute. It definitely has a feeling of the early 60s sci-fi kitsch. There is much attention to detail, interacting with objects can have funny results. It also reminds me a lot of the Where's Waldo books I played around with in the 90s.

This game runs well on a Mac laptop using just the mousepad. It uses the very stable Unity engine.

So with good, fitting music, the 1960s vibe and artwork, a good sense of humor and large, replayable HOG levels, I think this is a good game even as a CE. I will be getting it. Show less

As to the game , wow, it is so different and I reccomend you try the whole demo and not give up after 10 mins.

It does take some getting used to but there are hints available by clicking on each item in the list it will give you a clue which does not show you where the item is but will point you in the right direction.
This for me is perfect as most HO games the hints show you exactly where the item is, not this one.

I would suggest using the clues unless you want to click on every single item as some of the objects are well hidden and I found the clues essential.

I also love the wit an humor in this game and a lot of thought and effort has gone in to this and full credit to the developers.

This team do put up some of the best TM games out there and
now they are trying something different and for me it works.

It is not going to suit everyone but please don't give a game 1 star just because you don't like it without explaining exactly why you don't like it. If I did that for every game I don't like I would be looking at thousands of reviews.

If I was to find any complaint about this game then it has to be that I finished this game and wanted more and feel for a CE it is a bit short but that is just me .
Try the demo, see what you think and get yourself used to how the game works.
It is great to have different games here. Show less

By scrolling out and having an overall view, you can see areas that may not have been searched or, better yet, tie into a clue for an item you have not yet found. if you have played Hidden Folks and liked it, this one is so similar it could have been developed by the same person/people. (was it i wonder.. ?) for me it was an instant buy 5 minutes into the demo. i loved Hidden Folks. :)

please don't call it a HOG, it is so far removed from that genre, even tho you are in fact looking for hidden objects. some are static, some are interactive, some are ...Show more

It is a wonderful challenge! So much fun, so busy, so worth the CE price. That's a rare statement, coming from me, in these recent years of poor quality cookie-cutter games.

Lots of interactivity is always fun. The items are small and well blended into the surroundings. The scenes are abundantly full of things, hidden EVERYWHERE. You never know where they could be: inside, outside, under, above, behind! I couldn't leave anything uninspected. The entire demo had me working away. I have never been this entertained in a demo!

There's a little story being told involving these aliens and humans. The activities are not your typical boring, easy-peasy tasks that we always grump about. A game actually exists without lost keys, broken locks, missing valves, and bees to smoke out. I found this game to be really entertaining. I hope it is a long one! Features, options, hint system work great and add just what it takes to make this a fun experience.

Please take the time to complete the demo and get a true feel for what this game is all about. Exiting too soon will not do it justice. Unless you are super hard to please, I think you will be delighted. It won't appeal to everyone, but a least give it a fair chance. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Show less

There isn't a lot of color but the concept makes for a lot of fun! I really enjoyed this unique style of game play. I am always on the look out for games that are cute, unusual, and fun and this one ticks all the boxes!

This is a fun hidden object game with great interactivity. You can click on almost anything and get a reaction. The figures are cute and the playing area is huge, so it may take a while to explore everything and find all the aliens and their gadgets. I jumped on this one right away and am having lots of fun with it!
