Great old school fun. Good for beginners!

Yes, it's a laid back game, perfect for sipping tea & munching on cheesy poofs.

And yes, it's an old game. Requiring one to install the additional DirectX app is always a dead giveaway of an older game. But you can just hit cancel and the game will install anyway.

The fact that the main characters are named after those in the Rocky Horror Picture Show made me laugh as well. This is a great old style hidden object game with no bells, no whistles. It's something different and I recommend you give it a try. Show less

Not your typical game; so different to what is coming out in 2016. I felt like I’d watched a funny movie. This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. You get to play as both Brad and Janet. Their car having broken down outside the European village of Franken Burg, they meet various characters in their quest to get back on the road, and get involved in the lives of the villagers. The only thing I didn’t like were the pointers on the screen showing you which directions you have the choice of going in. Beginners might find it frustrating because of the hint style.
GRAPHICS: Loved the scenery, the crumbling outside of the castle on the cliff, the European style village, steep hills with cobbles, the Tudor houses, the windmill, the farm… You get widescreen or full screen, both looked good. Colors were NATURAL looking.
HOPS: 15? The look of the HOPS was more basic, but they were so much fun. You get a giant floating eye to indicate HOPS.I discovered accidentally, that using the scroll on your mouse, you can zoom in!! Infact you can zoom in at any point anywhere in the game! Great idea! Nothing was too hidden.
PUZZLES: 15? You get a floating jigsaw puzzle piece to indicate puzzle to do.
SOUNDS: EXCELS IN ENVIRONMENTAL SOUNDS, which vary as you move from place to place. Music was nice but repetitive and thankfully on a separate control. No voice overs. Note, there is no volume control inside the game. If you switch screen option, from the main menu options, you will see your computer task bar, and so you can change it from there (well, you can on mine).
HINT: Takes about 90 seconds to recharge. There are no choices in difficulty levels. The hint will give you written clues what to do next. No leading. No circling of items.
MAP: NONE, but you really don’t need it. One way leads into the village, and one way leads out. The farm and the woods lie outside the village and it’s all one big circle eventually.
INVENTORY: NOT lockable, but once you click on the word ‘inventory’ it stays up until you move on to a different scene. You need to drag items.
JOURNAL: NONE
CHARACTERS: Very, very good. Someone has given these characters PERSONALITY. There are no voice-overs. What they say, how they respond, and their facial expressions say it all! You read their conversation.
EXTRA: You get hidden Frankenstein Monster faces in the surroundings to find, which give you bits of trivia on the subject Show less

Searching for something fun and interesting here on BFG in 2017--which is becoming increasingly rare, I came across this little "diamond-in-the-rough" game nugget. Although dated with no bells and whistles, there are lots of laughs and a story line.

It is a bit old and clunky, but if you like a good storyline, clever dialogue, interesting twists, unexpected left turns, then it is the game for you.

So many developers use dialogue as a filler, or to give some information. Here the dialogue is part of the fun, "Be brave, Brad, time to run away."

You'll have a wonderful time/

Very funny game. I enjoyed it once I realized it was meant to be campy. The closing scene was hilarious!

I kind of like the "old" style of HOG with no frills, morphs, trophies, etc., etc. If I want a HOG, then that's what I want to do; play HOS.

I played the full demo and played at least 3 HOS and 2 mini games. I was totally defeated by the fountain pipes game because it seemed that if I didn't get the pipes attached quickly enough, they reset and I had to start over again. Here is where I found ...Show more

Here is where I found the tutorial and hint system to be less than helpful.

The lock game also defeated me mainly because I ran out of time before I could figure it out. The hour passed very quickly as I was totally engrossed in the play.

The HOS were also challenging; I used the hint button a lot. The items were very well hidden, like behind flowing water, etc. As with every HOG, you have to get used to how the HOS are set up and they get easier the more familiar you get with the particular game's style. I found this true of this game also; I had an easier time with the 2nd HOS than the first.

The British environment of the game added a little more difficulty for this American. I did love the graphics for the the characters; Janet's face turning red when she gets mad at Brad, tears running down their faces, etc. Gave me some chuckles.

Considering how easy most HOG are for me, this was a breath of fresh air, that I would have to work a little harder at solving it. It maybe an oldie, but it is still a goodie. Show less

I really liked this game. I don't know if it's because I've been playing them since 2008 give or take, which makes ME "old school" for casual games.... because this game, of course, is old school.

Back when, there were large file "adventure" games... and the hidden object game, like this. It wasn't until around 2010 that mixing BOTH of these genres gave life to the games of today that we love so much.

I can still appreciate "the way it was" and will probably end up buying this.
This game may not appeal to everyone though. There are no bells and whistles, no maps etc. I really miss the voice actors. The hint/skip system is so slow you can feel yourself aging.
Is this a great game, no. But did I enjoy my time playing it? Yes. I think mostly because I just loved the gorgeous graphics so much. Show less

It's not going to suit many of the people who like the polished games like MCF but it's a good game if you are fed up with the general skull, gore and creepy doll theme of so many HOGs.

I would have rated it 5 but there were too many HOS for me. Give it a go. Show less

There are a lot of good things about this if you don't mind basic, old school game play. I like how the dev puts tidbits of history and interesting facts in the game to find, the story was cute and didn't take itself seriously and I thought the graphics in the hidden puzzles was very good and rather challenging. There are a lot of good things about this if you don't mind basic, old school game play. I like how the dev puts tidbits of history and interesting facts in the game to find, the story was cute and didn't take itself seriously and I thought the graphics in the hidden puzzles was very good and rather challenging. However some of the puzzles were maddening, like a pipe game that reset itself after 30 seconds. I don't like timed games anyway and that was nowhere near enough time for me to figure it out. Another was a fishing game that require you to catch 100 fish. ONE HUNDRED! That's when I stopped. I played 29 minutes and enjoyed it but those two puzzles were enough to put me off the game.
