For me it is always fun and doesn't become boring. This demo started out slowly because of a bunch of little tasks, but the pace did pick up, a map became available early on and the mechanics ran smoothly. I really liked the beautiful hand drawn graphics and nice colors, the tree creatures, the revived armored soldiers, nicely rendered characters and alchemy tasks. The additional fun for me was collecting and mixing all the compounds for potions, with the nifty alchemy kit.
The puzzles were fun, not too difficult. The HOPs were good, with some mild interactivity. Nothing over the top. Quail was my favorite character and I loved beautiful Phlox. Quail, I would imagine, was a good role model for the females of the day...attractive, strong, brave and loyal. Not a great deal of challenge, regardless of your chosen game mode which includes the Custom Mode. But sometimes, I just welcome a fun, relaxed game session which is the case here. And Grimoires has always offered easy fun.
Even though this series doesn't shine with a lot of 5-star reviews, it shines enough for me. I do hope it provides some fun, relaxing hours for you, too. Give the demo a try.

The puzzles were great, many different types. The hidden object scenes were list type, narrative type, and picture type - all of them a lot of fun. There are formulas to use to conjure up weapons and tools. A lot of fun.
It was an immediate buy for me. Not being familiar with the series, I have tracked down the 1st and 2nd installments to demo and purchase if they are as good as this one.

I really enjoyed this game. While not as challenging as some, the storyline is pretty good, it reminds me of the movie, Man in the Iron Mask. You have four difficulty levels to pick from, a map to jump to a given scene. The most challenging thing in this game are the hidden object scenes. I love them. With today's deal, BOGO you can't go wrong to purchase this game.

Lost Grimoires 3 begins at the end of the previous story. A cataclysmic war between human's and alchemists just wrapped up and now you (taking on the role of the kings sister) are looking for a little break from your last adventure. You weren't expecting your brother king Raphael to bring back a souvenir from the last campaign which will cause no end in trouble for King Raphael's siblings s well as their subjects. It's obvious from the beginning that your brother Raphael is "not himself" and appears to be under some kind of spell. He believes you are plotting against him, even though you were invaluable to him in winning the last battle. You don't get much of a break when your female friend Quail (Captain of your brothers army) alerts you of an impending battle with the Entangles Ones (tree monsters) who have just broken into your castle. A new battle has just begun with this army of Entangled Ones and they are poisoning the citizens with poisonous thorns when they storm the castle. It is believed that an evil sorcerer named Sylvanheir is responsible and seeks revenge on King Raphael, but is Sylvanheir truly wicked or is something far more sinister happening involving the forgotten well? Journey into battle with the Entangled Ones which leads you across various locations in this magical realm with the help of your Phoenix companion Phlox. Incredible challenges await you along the way especially when you reach the Elven Kingdom. In the Elven Kingdom you encounter a masked stranger who knows Raphael and also shares a secret with you about a mysterious forgotten well that may be a factor in why your brother Raphael is acting so peculiar. But who is this masked stranger and what is his agenda? Will you discover the truth about the forgotten well? Can you save everyone with your knowledge of Alchemy and the use of recipes in your healers kit? The answer is yes, but it won't be an easy task. Once you complete the "demo" play of the game the adventure really draws players into the fascination third installment of the Lost Grimoires series. I loved this edition enough to play it twice! The imagery and artistic color scheme of Lost Grimoires is beautifully crafted. The dialog is necessary in explaining the story though the character's sarcastic tone is a bit much. This may be the conclusion of this unique Fairytale Alchemy Adventure. I think fans of this series will enjoy every moment of gameplay and I highly recommend this engaging game as well as the previous editions. Cheers!

As my username indicates, I really do like a good story, and this is a good one. To me, its ending is not completely obvious; clearly, there is more story to come. I like its twist and turns. Plus, the hidden object scenes and mini games are timely and appropriate to the story. Neither is difficult but for me that is a plus. When I want a difficult mini games/hidden object I go to Eipix, if that is helpful.
I happen to enjoy alchemy so I am not bothered by having to blend ingredients or the match three-games that come with each successful potion. I prefer potions to the gadgets such as special cameras or even the cute little helpers. Again, in this game, the potions complement the fantasy.
Because I like a good story line, I pay attention to the conversation in the game amongst its characters, and this game actually features a bit of a story arc with character development. And the ending is not what you might expect. Granted, these games do not offer complex stories but this particular developer, Artifex Mundi (my favorite so you know my bias), creates story better than most.
More than one review addressed the sarcasm or sarcastic remarks when the player attempts a wrong move, and I admit I was also put off by those until I assigned the statements to the character that we play. These are statements I could see her saying to herself. It took me a while, almost all the game, to understand that but when I did, I rather enjoyed them.
To me, it is the back-and-forth between the characters, and their conversation, that keeps this game from being just another fantasy. It is not your usual magic outcome. Well done, Artifex Mundi.

I've just finished this game and thought it was great! The characters and story line were interesting, and the puzzles and HOPs were not crazy difficult like some. I liked the banter between the characters, and the fact I didn't have to go all over the place using a map because the challenges were in close proximity. Can't wait for the sequel.

King Raphael has been gone for three years battling Sylvanheir and the Elven warriors he possessed. The dwellers of the Tangled forest are nearly impossible to defeat, and the letters your brother, the King of Pheonix, has been sending home, have indicated a drastic change in his demeanor. Recurring dreams of impending doom may very well be harbingers of something wicked this way comes, and your premonitions are rarely wrong! The Tangled Ones have breached the Kingdoms parameters and the King and his army have not yet arrived. Can a mere Alchemist defend the kingdom until reinforcements arrive, or will the reinforcements be just another force to reckon with?
I've never been a fan of the "Recipe" type gadget that is offered in Lost Grimoires series, mostly because of the repetitiveness of Mini-Games that go along with it. In this case, it's a Chain type M3 with limited moves, which is my least favorite type of Match 3 game. If you enjoy the Recipe and Match 3 games, this will be right up your alley, because this game is much better than the last one offered. This could have been a 5-star game if the "Tangled Ones" weren't walking trees, and the Mini-Games were a tad bit more complex. The lip sync movements don't match what the characters are saying and I'd much rather have no lip sync than poorly synced voices. Speaking of voices, we have yet another child character whose voice is clearly that of an adult trying to sound like a child, another feature I could do without. (aren't there any child voice actors?) Overall, I do like this game, especially given the fact that it's an SE
The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly Interactive List finds, but there is also Narrative Keyword finds, Multiples, Pictured item finds and simple Listed items with no interactions. Most items can be found without looking at the list, and the scenes tend to be blurry in an attempt to hide the objects. The only one I found to be creative was the Keyword Narrative HOP, which I really enjoyed and wish they had chosen that style throughout the game over the Interactive list finds.
The Mini Games aren't very complex and most are just repetitions of the Match 3 games required to make Alchemy recipes. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Connect 3 or more required elements within limited moves.
2) Move guard tiles to push the enemy tiles to the top red slots
3) Repeat Match 3 game to make another recipe.
4) Shot at objects to capture the Tangled ones.
5) Select lock pins in the correct order to open the lock
6) Select and drag curved axis rods to remove.
7) Use directional arrows to guide your horse from obstacles.
8) Shoot the harpoon when target turns green.
9) Another Match 3 recipe repeat.
10) Slide tiles to the correct slots to create a landscape picture

I'm guessing that's why the CE wasn't offered. Which is too bad because I would have liked to see a different ending - which I'm also guessing was a happier outcome to the relationship between the elf and the princess. I really hate unfinished business in the end. So if you don't like those kind of endings don't buy the game. I'm really torn on whether to recommend the game just based on the constant annoying sarcastic comments when doing tasks. So if you can ignore or find that kind of thing funny then buy the game cause it really is a good game. Show less
