I collected 16 Mythical Creatures, 20 crystals and 6 feathers.
The bonus chapter is a prequel. I bought this without trying it first. It worked for me this time. Show less

The Queen of Creation creates the history of the Universe on her Canvases of Eternity, but what if somebody were to steal one of the Canvases? Would you still exist? Would the World still exist? Would a new reality be created to take its place, or would there just be emptiness? These are scenarios Alice Carpenter does not want to see happen in her lifetime, but time is of the essence, or there may be no worlds left for a Guardian to protect!
I have good news and bad news. The famous Elefun Games ....loading...in between all of the scenes and zoom zones, still exists (must be a canvas not yet stolen) the good news is that the time it takes between loading, has decreased significantly (which technically isn't all that great of news) Elefun has also brought back some of the staple features that they were known for, but with a few tweaks.
If you aren't familiar with these features, this dev was the only dev I know of that gave a point system, 500 points for finding a collectible, or finding a Morphing Object, which btw this game doesn't have morphs :(, or even finishing a puzzle or HOP. The point system was used to increase your rank as a Detective (cub reporter to award winning journalist) but since Alice isn't a detective, that doesn't work. You don't get points, but, as you collect Mythical Creatures, you do increase rank until you become the Ultimate Myth Hunter.
There is a gadget, which can be either good news or bad news, depending on your preference. (only used 7 times) Alice is equipped with the Guardian's Bracelet, which is a magic bracelet that possesses powers of 3 elements. The Red Gem invokes a Fireball, the Blue Gem creates a Frost Sphere, and the Green Gem allows you to move heavy objects.
In this Collector's Edition version, there are hidden Feathers to find, the before mentioned Mythological Creatures to increase your rank, and Crystals to collect that allow you to access the Spectra History Room, to learn the secrets of the Spectra World by unlocking parts of the story with the discovered Crystals. This is an okay feature, but I'd prefer Morphing Puzzle pieces.
The Hidden Object Scenes include those famous EleFun scenes where you find a handful of fragments located around the entire scene. There are also Interactive List Finds, Multiple Finds, Silhouetted Shape finds, and several HOP's where you find Keywords in Sentence finds. They do offer an alternate Triangular shaped Puzzle game, if you're not into the HOP's.
The Mini Games tend to be on the easy breezy side, and most of them can be considered HOP's as well. The lack of challenge and creativity within the Mini Games is one of the reasons I only gave this game 4 stars. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Find multiple symbols shown, hidden on pages in a book.
2) Find matching feathers by clicking two spheres at a time. If you choose correctly, the Crow loses 1 life, if you choose incorrectly, You lose 1 life.
3) Drag fragments to recreate the images.
4) Find matching pairs of related objects by turning over 2 canvases at a time.
5) Sift through scenes to find objects and replace them in the correct scene, using arrows to change scenes.
6) Change your clothes to match the outfit on the poster.
This Collector's Edition version has 9 Wallpapers, 11 Concept Art pictures, 3 Screensavers, 35 Music Soundtracks, Achievements to Earn, 16 Bestiary Mythological Creatures to help you rank up, 6 hidden Feather's, 20 hidden Crystals that allow you to learn secrets of the Spectra World, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

What a pretty and relaxing game. Thoroughly enjoyed the demo. A lot of work went into making the screens interesting. Fun to click/re-click on objects to see them move and make sounds. AND, thank, you! None (as far as I played) of the way too many and either boring or very frustrating puzzles that seem to dominate games of late. Hate them.

I find it so much harder to grant 5 stars in games offered recently since most games are rehashes both in story line and in game play of countless offerings that have preceded the so-called new game of the day.
Canvases of Time comes close ( it's more likely a 4.5 star game ) but there are aspects within that prevent me from rating this a top-notch game.
The story has been told thousands of times. There are parallel worlds, one of humans and another fairy tale beings. Lines cannot be crossed otherwise devastation is in the offing. The heroine in the game is the guardian tasked with keeping separation between the realms.
Strange and sinister occurrences are befalling Earth so the guardian via a portal crosses to the other side where she meets the ruler who explains that an evil being ( turns out to be a dude named Solas ) is bent on destroying both realms.
What is the point in doing so? If both worlds are gone, what happens to Solas? Isn't he gone forever too? This is the sticky part of the story. I realize this is a fantasy game yet this element in the story leaves a major question unanswered.
Game play is routine as HOPA goes, a few of the HO sections and puzzles do offer a bit of challenge while none in the demo are overwhelmingly difficult. I do admire how the game is drawn and some of the creatures in the fairy world look cool. Glass prisms are there for those interested in collectibles.
I admit I am often taken by the fantasy games with my favorite series being the Dark Parables with the Awakenings coming in at a close second. I think Canvases is an installment of Forgotten Fairy Tales however none of the prior offerings are entrenched in my memory banks.
For me the CE presented today is not an option. Perhaps the SE in a few weeks time will be. I feel Canvases is a game that other players will either love or hate. I am in the strongly like camp.

This sequel to The Forgotten Fairy Tales: The Spectra World was somewhat childish and too simple to be taken seriously by most experienced casual gamers. I thought the first installment of this series showed great potential but Canvases of Time could have had a more interesting storyline and more innovative puzzles and HOS. This edition involves The Queen of Creation who has created the universe on the Canvases of Eternity, but what will happen when the Shadows of Oblivion come in and destroy the canvases? As the powerful Guardian with magical gifts, can you race across time and restore the canvases before the universe crumbles? Elefun Games in my opinion have a line of promising series but there is nothing remotely exciting about the storyline in The Forgotten Fairy Tales: Canvases of Time as it is essentially just a typical and ordinary fantasy story. It is also so undistinctive that I feel like it could fit any other HOPA series developed by Elefun. The gameplay in The Forgotten Fairy Tales: Canvases of Time is as basic as can be, to the point that it could actually be mistaken as a children’s game. The adventure part of the game presents no depth and complexity, the mini-games are super easy, and the hidden object scenes are all single-layered and insultingly simple. As if to try to spice things up, Elefun included two extra features in the game – a magical bracelet and the Lamp of Life. Unfortunately, both of these features fall flat and fail to add any redeeming qualities to the game which is unfortunate. One redeeming quality about this edition is it's "fun factor". The Forgotten Fairy Tales: Canvases of Time is at least very pretty to look at. The imaginative artwork and extravagant visual effects are effective in creating a fairytale-like experience. In addition, the stellar voice-acting and background music are equally impressive. I decided a four star rating was appropriate because I know Elefun developer's have the creative ability to make this series more challenging and adventuresome. I'm very interested to see them raise the bar with the next installment because I love Elefun games.
The Forgotten Fairy Tales: Canvases of Time is a lengthy game which took me approximately four and a half hour to complete, with the bonus chapter clocking in at the 45-minute mark. The bonus section of the Collector’s Edition features mediocre CE bling; a strategy guide, wallpapers, screensavers, concept art, soundtracks, achievements, and collectibles. I hope the next edition is executed with more quality like the original and I look forward to how this series plans on keeping it's fans engaged. Cheers!
I recommend both games in this series:
•The Forgotten Fairy Tales: The Spectra World
•The Forgotten Fairy Tales: Canvases of Time

You play as the Guardian of 2 worlds - Earth and Spectra. The story line follows through and the bonus game gives a prequel to the main story. Some of the mini games had no or little instructions - luckily there is a strategy guide to follow. The HOS were good and there was a variety of them. It was good, and sometimes very good, but not the best game I've played
