Set in 1929 in Mussolini's Italy, you are an agent searching for the Hammer of Vulcan. The Hitler regime in Germany is known to have been superstitious (remember those games about the spear?), so it makes sense that Mussolini's regime would be also. And - what if? What if it were all true?

Throw in a few more gods and goddesses, some weather events, a dash of treachery, all with lovely art, and you have an adventure which is just right for me. Some of the mini-games will be a bit too easy for cleverer players than I, but there is room for all of in the pond. Show less

This game to me is truly a 5-star game. Great story especially if you, like me, love history and mythology!
The scenes were stunningly done, the story was factual and cohesive, the music was lovely and the games and hidden object scenes were fun, diverse and not too easy but not so hard that became real head-scratchers.

This is a fun game to play. Expert players will find the puzzles too easy, but newer players will enjoy.

This is a fun game to play. Expert players will find the puzzles too easy, but newer players will enjoy.

Hint, skip, and helpful messages are allowed in Hardcore mode, just longer intervals.

As you acquire mythic artifacts (lower right), these have to be used in order to access new mythic scenes.

The game itself isn't very long, but there are many video cut scenes, which are well thought out to explain the background of the plot and transition to new places to explore. The voiceovers are good and not too slow or too fast and matches the close caption perfectly.

I would have given 5 stars, except the artwork is not as nice as I would like, and the high definition quality varies--some places excellent, and other places a bit blurry.

The story is easy to follow and better than average. It draws quite a bit of inspiration from Roman myths, which is nice for those with a literary bent.

I hope to see more games in this series. Show less

THE CHAPTERS REMAIN IN THE SAME AREA TOO LONG WHICH MAKES IT BORING AT TIMES

I really enjoyed this new series addition, but after the demo, the chapters are so long, that I grew bored midway through each chapter. There are only 4 chapters, but most of the chapters are stretched out too much with meaningless tasks and a lot of back and forth, find this here go back there etc. The chapters are so long, they take up about 15 or more pages in the SG. I really enjoyed this new series addition, but after the demo, the chapters are so long, that I grew bored midway through each chapter. There are only 4 chapters, but most of the chapters are stretched out too much with meaningless tasks and a lot of back and forth, find this here go back there etc. The chapters are so long, they take up about 15 or more pages in the SG. (included in the CE version) I've always said that I'd rather play a short game that packs a punch with the plot, than to play a long game that is filled with little to do with the plot and a lot to do with meaningless tasks.

One of the other reviewers mentions the fact that between some tasks such as mini games or while switching to the next location, it takes a while. That is the case here, and I might add, that you're left staring at a blank black screen which seems to take forever. But I suppose that's just being nitpicky. The bottom line is, if you enjoy Roman Mythology, this is a great game, just keep in mind that it does get a little boring at times because you are in one area way too long in my opinion, I'd much rather move on to the next scene to keep my attention. I'm a fan of CE bling, so as usual, I recommend that version over this SE version, but here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:

Agent Phillip Miller was working on a top secret mission when he mysteriously vanished. Foul play is suspected to be responsible for his sudden disappearance, so The Myth Seekers have assigned a new recruit to follow his trail. Agent Miller had been trying to locate the mythological Hammer belonging to the Roman God, Vulcan. Myths tell the story of a legendary blacksmith to the gods, who became crippled when he was cast to Earth by his own mother at birth, a legendary blacksmith, with a legendary Hammer. Think these gods never existed? Think again! Very few know the truth about fairy tales from bygone eras, and even fewer know the real truth of why The Myth Seekers exist!

At first, I thought this game was going to be a poor attempt at replicating Myths of the World, because it starts out almost the same way. (the voice that says this myth takes place yada yada yada) But I soon realized that this game was different, it's kind of a cross between Myths of the World and New York Mysteries. It takes place in the 1920's, and you play the role of a new Myth Seekers agent, Amelia, who has been tasked with picking up where missing Agent Miller left off before his disappearance, and of course, there are puzzles to solve and decode to peel back the layers of conspiracies and paranoias.

Sunward Games has done an amazing job with the graphics and the story, but I did notice the games to be a bit too simple at times. I love it when I see fresh blood enter the HOPA world, Sunworld has given us some great games in the past (The Secret Order & Endless Fables) and I HOPe to see more coming down the BF pike (or is it stream?) As far as a CE version goes, I think the CE version fits the bill, because there are Collectibles and Morphing Objects offered along with the usual Achievements, Wallpapers, and re-playable puzzles etc.

The Hidden Object Scenes vary with each new scene, and there is an alternative Pair game where you match related pairs. Some of the Mini Games, in my opinion, would qualify as a Hidden Object Scene, but are clearly listed as a Mini Game. If I had to complain, I would say that they should have more objects to find, because they are kind of short. There are even FROG finds, where you must find several fragments that are listed in 3 sections, and each section goes together to form one useful inventory item, once all pieces have been found. I really enjoyed the Progressive, Interactive HOP, where you find one object, and then place that object in the scene logically, which exposes the next interactive object and so forth.

The Mini Games as I stated earlier, are a bit too simplistic, but that's probably just me, I don't mind easy puzzles, or hard puzzles for that matter, but I do prefer puzzles that require me to use my brain, not just completing a puzzle by instinct because there's a pattern or because I've done the same exact puzzle so many times before, that I could solve it in my sleep (does that make sense?) Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Swap the books so that the images on the spines form a complete picture. This is repeated on two more puzzles as the scene scrolls to the following two shelves.

2) Rotate Hexagonal tiles to complete the image and learn the story of Vulcan, in a set of different pictures.

3) Place items correctly on the table, using the sketch as reference.

4) Find and replace objects logically to uncover the first-aid kit (once you find the kit, you will bandage the victims head, pay attention to his torn and tattered white shirt, before bandaging and afterwards, it's a miracle I tell ya!)

5) Move the fireball to the door on the right, making sure you pass through all points only one time.

6) Follow the pattern on the clue so that only the darkened pins stick out, moving one pin may affect another.

7) In a two part puzzle, first rotate the rings to align the pattern correctly. Then swap the inner circles to match the symbols above their frames.

The Collector's Edition version has 8 Background Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art pictures, 6 Movie Cutscenes, 6 Character pictures and bios, 8 re-playable Mini Games and Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Achievements to earn (9 story based/9 skill based) 13 Morphing Objects, 15 Collectibles, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! STORYLINE
We are the Myth Seekers, an elite agency of experienced specialists who intervene to protect humanity from the gods. My name is Amelia, and I'm the newest member. As an expert on Roman mythology, the agency assigned me to recover Vulcan's hammer, which won't be an easy task.

Bellona, Mars' twin sister and goddess of war, has stolen the hammer as part of her revenge plot against Vulcan. She has already successfully blamed him for the ancient eruption of Mount Vesuvius and, if she finds the pearl of Venus, she'll unleash a new eruption. I must seek help from the gods and goddesses to stop Bellona and clear Vulcan's name.

GAMEPLAY
The gameplay was incredibly well-integrated into the storyline. In exploration mode, actions were fairly intuitive and, even though some of the usual "laundry list" was included, inventory items were used logically. Some of the puzzles were a cross between a HO scene and a mini-game. Several times, the only instruction given was "interact with the scene," which I love. Other times, the "puzzle" required visiting several areas and gathering inventory items.

There were distinctive HO scenes and mini-games as well. The HOs included interactive lists, FROGs, multiples, and more. The mini-games included the usual variations of jigsaw puzzles, mazes, and moving things to their proper places, but generally more complex than the simple ones we usually see. My favorites:
• Reverse Sudoku: Swap tokens on a grid to match the clues labeling the rows and columns, but only tokens that match in shape or color may be swapped.
• Parking Lot Jigsaw: Slide the Tetris-shaped pieces around the grid to restore the image, using the background as a clue.
• Correctly mix 8 paint colors, then use them to restore the fresco.

PRODUCTION
Lovely graphics in a palette of warm jewel tones. Animation was done well, except the characters moved a bit oddly and appeared a somewhat cartoonish. Cutscenes were crisp and clear. Music remained in the background and was fairly nondescript. Voiceovers were excellent, as were environmental sounds.

TECH STUFF
Hotspots were a touch finicky, I thought. The inventory panel was extremely well-designed, as is always the case with Mariaglorum. It actually extended nearly all the way across the screen, and scrolled automatically to offscreen items.

CONCLUSION
While not a perfect game, it's definitely worth a credit or PCC. Fantastic storyline, interesting gameplay, and immersive production. Give it a try! Show less

This is a lovingly illustrated game with the artistry I've come to expect from Artifex Mundi. Unfortunately it's so low on challenge (vis-a-vis the hidden object scenes and other tasks) that I'm almost falling asleep in the midst of all the amazing scenery. The devs should have included more storyline, more original tasks (or just fewer pointlessly easy tasks), since it's so far bringing the game ...Show more

Unfortunately it's so low on challenge (vis-a-vis the hidden object scenes and other tasks) that I'm almost falling asleep in the midst of all the amazing scenery. The devs should have included more storyline, more original tasks (or just fewer pointlessly easy tasks), since it's so far bringing the game down. Also, the speech boxes at the top are too massive, they obscure what's going on in the game and sort of ruin the immersive scenery.

If this dev can bring the storyline and challenge level up to the same level of creativity that was put into the visuals, the next game will be a winner. This one just misses it by a hair's breadth. Show less
