I forgot what a good game was like, having played a series of mediocre ones for so long.
The artwork is beautiful, gorgeous characters, mostly easy mini puzzles, excellent cut scenes.
There is a good flow to the story, which is quite good and easy to follow.

The HOPs are standard and not terribly creative. Some of the voices don't match the drawn characters (one voice actor doing 5 characters isn't always convincing).
Expert level still gets helpful messages, hint & skip.
Other than these minor quibbles, this is an excellent game and very enjoyable to immerse yourself in. Show less

I loved this game! Beautiful scenery, great unfolding storyline, easy mini-games, items used pretty quickly, not very much back and forth, lovely music and mostly very pretty hidden object scenes. Nothing to complain about except, I wish it was longer and that's just me being greedy because I was enjoying the game so much!

Loved the scenes, so much interesting detail. Loved the storyline. It's a little on the easy side, but that's okay, not every game needs to be a mind-bender. Immortal Love: Black Lotus provided me with a few hours of pleasure during the coronavirus lockdown in April 2020.

I've been taking my time playing this game. I'm still playing it after 3 months and still haven't finished it yet. I love hidden object games but not when you have to keep walking around just to find one or two objects. I love hidden object games but not when you have to keep walking around just to find one or two objects. At least when you walk back and forth in this one the scenery is beautiful and you only have to walk back and forth a couple of times before you can move on to a new scene. And this game is nice because you can usually use the objects in your inventory right away. I haven't been reading the dialogue so I cant tell you how the storyline is but I've given the storyline 5 stars because they haven't interrupted the game with dialogue on every level. In my opinion this has been a very relaxing game. I'd like to find more like this one. Show less

I bought this game and liked it so very much I purchased all the Immortal Love games, the HOS were perfectly done and some were very clever...Please make more of these and the puzzles were awesome and I usually skip all puzzles...I 100% recommend this game

You soon learn about the legend of the black lotus (a deadly flower created by dark magic) in which the person who receives it will face inevitable death when the last petal turns black. Do you have what it takes to rescue your beloved? This latest installment in the Immortal Love series once again combines a romantic storyline with paranormal elements, and does so successfully. Although the storyline is beautifully executed, fans who are familiar with the genre know this theme has been done countless times before. However, the exciting twists and the multi-faceted characters in Immortal Love: Black Lotus makes it worthwhile. I also think this fourth installment is also elevated by a wonderful production. The visuals are up to 4 Friends Games’ usual unbelievably high standards. Every single aspect is crafted to perfection, from the epic cinematic renderings to the tiniest details in the scenes. The music also works to enhance the “magical” quality of the game, there is never a dull moment in the game and the soundtracks are stunning. The voice-overs are equally impressive (full of emotion) and the sound SFX are spot on. The adventure part of this addition may be perceived as a cookie-cutter experience for long-time advanced HOPA players and for some players the puzzles may seem uninspired and somewhat tedious. Luckily, the hidden object scenes are quite entertaining, featuring some very clever interactions with an acceptable level of challenge! This edition may not be my personal favorite among in the series but it is equally entertaining as the previous editions. The only reason I chose to give a 4 star rating is because Immortal Love: Black Lotus has such a short length. I managed to complete the main game after about three hours, and the bonus chapter in 45 minutes. I do recommend the CE version so that game club members enjoy a more lengthy gaming experience and the typical Collector’s Edition bling; a strategy guide, wallpapers, screensavers, concept art, soundtracks, movies, re-playable hidden object scenes, re-playable puzzles, achievements, and collectibles. If you enjoy this series you'll most likely want to add this game to complete your series collection whether you chose the SE version or the CE version. Cheers!

After playing two 4Friends Games back to back (I just played Mystery Tales: The Other Side) I realized that all their games have really blue hues. I am a little disappointed in the length of this game, although not surprised because 3 or 4 chapters are usually the norm for this dev. Personally, I prefer Collectible and Morphing Objects that are only offered within the CE versions, but really the only extra offered in this game is the hidden Phoenix birds, so because of the length and absence of a long game, I recommend this version over the CE version. Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either is right for you:

The delicate Lotus flower has long represented spiritualism and religion and is associated with ascension and enlightenment, as it rises from the earth and blooms ever so briefly The White Lotus is known for its beauty and grace, and above all, purity, but the Black Lotus, well that's an entirely different story. The Black Lotus was born out of magic, dark magic that is used to steal one's youth, as it drains their life essence. Once the victim receives this cursed, deadly flower, there's no escaping the inevitable, and when those petals turn completely black, the victim is doomed. Can the power of love be strong enough to break the curse?

The Collector's Edition version has 68 Phoenix birds to find, usually 2 per scene, and there is a pull out tab that will tell you how many remain in each scene. They are very well blended into the scenery and difficult to find, not because of how well they are hidden, but because the graphics are so blurry. The graphics issue was one of my biggest turnoffs with this game, the colors seem faded and whitewashed, blurry and undefined, a huge disappointment. I'm not quite sure what "look" these devs were trying to achieve, I was super impressed with the beginning cutscenes and cover page, only to be utterly disappointed with the graphics moving forward!

The Hidden Object Scenes are actually pretty decent. They are mostly Interactive List finds, but there are several interactive objects. There are also Multiple Silhouetted Shape finds, and scenes where you must find and Replace items.

The Mini Games aren't very creative and they all seem rather easy to solve, not horrible, just not very creative. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Guide pink bubble over clear ones from smallest to largest.
2) Swap tiles to match 2 related tiles in each column.
3) Click 2 lotus flowers to find the matching symbols (rotates)
4) Align the crosshairs over sandbag to shoot an arrow.
5) Swap pie shaped pieces to complete each portrait.
6) Remove all comb teeth by selecting in a correct sequence.
7) Remove 3 or more identical gems until none remain (x3)
8) Choose Attack, Defend or Disarm icons to beat opponent.
9) Swap books to complete the image.
10) Select discs to complete image, click icon to switch day.

The Collector's Edition version has 5 Wallpapers, 13 Concept Art pictures, 4 Screensavers, 6 Music Soundtracks, 17 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 14 Mini Games and 29 Movie Cutscene Videos, 28 Achievements to earn, 68 hidden Phoenix Birds (to hatch 5 Phoenix Bird Eggs) 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a built-in Strategy Guide, enjoy!

This game is good for those who are new to the Mystery genre or those who just love Hidden object mini games. The mini games were repetitive...Find 3 cats, 3 dogs and 3 eyes. The colors sometimes made the search difficult. I used the hint button several times just to move the game along. I am glad that I used a free credit to purchase the game.

I don't recommend this game.
