It is hard to believe that Puppet Show the Curse of Ophelia is game number 13 in the Puppet Show series. Before trying the demo I was actually ready to hate the game simply because I am so done with the series in general. After all, aside from the first original storyline games the others have been duds. I’ve been surprised that the series didn’t fold long ago but we all know that BFG is infatuated with serial games and does seem quite reluctant to move in new directions. At any rate aside from the high-pitched squeaky voices of our leading ladies, the game is much better than I anticipated and I will definitely be buying this one. Not only did I enjoy the demo, I was left wanting more when it ended – a very good sign that I will enjoy the full game.
I’m not going to spend much time going into the storyline because you will hear that from others but I will only say that you again play a detective and you are off again to help a friend in need. In this case your friend has become ill since her starring role in the theater production of Ophelia. It is said that there is a curse on the role and that seems like it might be true. Will you be able to help Leroy save his wife before the curse claims her?
The graphics in the game are pure AMAX/ERS with gorgeous artwork graphics. Now, if only the voices were as wonderful as the graphics it would be awesome. However, listening to Angela and Beatrice is like the proverbial fingernails on the chalkboard – simply grating!
The HOPS and puzzles hold no surprises but I still happen to enjoy the HOPS from the AMAX team. The puzzles are not difficult and I seemed to breeze through them quite easily. We all know to expect at least one or two hair-pulling mini-games after the demo so I am sure that I might get stuck later and need to resort to the SG.
The CE version of the game is quite an improvement from what we normally find in CE games from this development team. There are two types of collectibles to find but I like the flowers the most since we will learn more about them later in the extras section. We have achievements to earn and most of the other standard extra fluff but I am really impressed that AMAX has finally included the option to replay the HOPS and Mini-games that, IMHO, increase the value of any CE game. There are 11 Mini-games and 19 HOPS to replay in the extras section. It looks like there are almost twice as many HOPS as Mini-games so those of you who don’t care that much for puzzles should be happy. Other extras include 7 Wallpapers, 16 Concept Art, 5 Screensavers, and 4 Music Tracks. As always you will find the Bonus Chapter and the in-game Strategy Guide.
Since becoming a member at BFG it is fair to say that I have played a ton of HOPA games. I’ve used the term cookie-cutter quite frequently because the games all seem to follow a set pattern. But to be honest even though I use that term frequently, it doesn’t mean that I still can’t find something to enjoy about most HOPA games. I am a hopeless HOPA game addict and playing them is my favorite form of entertainment no matter how many lost zipper pulls I must find or wires I need to tape together. Even though I know I will enjoy this game, please try the demo to see if Puppet Show Curse of Ophelia is one you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming! Show less

I have all of the Puppetshow games. This one's first hop had so many throwback characters to the past games. Several more had characters from the past games. It was like a reunion. It even had mechanical cat. But no spider boy.
The black haired doll is so cool. She even walks like a doll. She's cute and I look forward to seeing her in the next puppetshow. ( I hope she makes a appearance).
The puzzles are fun and relaxing. Lots of in the right order and matching. You can replay 11 select mini-games. I enjoyed them. The hops are plentiful and the art is large and beautiful. It was nice not getting out the magnifying glass. I didn't like the riddle hops. You can replay 19 hops, I think this is a good amount.
I liked some details- The Bunny Topiary and the flowers. The dumpling eating crow. He didn't just disappear either.
This game has a sense of humor to it.
The collectibles- I Loved collecting the flowers. They go to a page and has the meaning of the flower. Delphinium is my favorite. But I Love all of them. 29 Morphing Snowflakes. They are slow most times. There is a indicator for both the snowflake and flowers. I kept pressing the rose on the hat indicator to read about the meaning of the flower I just collected. I didn't get all of the snowflakes. I was shy 2. I couldn't go back for them in the end. I can use the bonus content. But since I didn't get all of them. You could have more than what I have. I did notice on the screensaver, I chose the flowers and on the picture where you save it, it was full of flowers. I glanced at it when it was working and it has a few flowers not all. I did collect all the flowers.
The bonus chapter is what happen after. I liked the ending.
7 wallpapers, 16 concept art, 5 screensavers, 4 music, achievements.
Replay 21 movies, 19 hops and 11 mini-games.

Ever since the first installment I've been fan of PuppetShow. But in time, around the seventh game of the series, my enthousiasm started to fade a little.
Well... it's back! This 13th installment again has everything I love: atmosphere, razorsharp graphics and a compelling story. I'm glad I kept hanging on! The Curse of Ophelia is worth every dollarcent I've payed for it!
I recommend this game!

The Curse of Ophelia is the 13th installment of Puppetshow Series by AMAX Interactive though it reminds me of previous editions developed by ERS.
Your cousin Angela (lead actress playing the lead lady in the theater production of Ophelia) has been attacked recently and left in a comatose state and doctors are unable to find the source of her condition. You receive a letter from Angela's husband Leroy who believes she's been cursed after receiving a Puppet Doll! Time to investigate the theater, so you ask Beatrice (Angela's best friend at the theater) for more info. When you arrive at the theater you learn Beatrice is the replacement for Angela in the role of Ophelia. During questioning, Beatrice describes the incident including a description of a "cursed doll". She also tells you of her own experience with the curse and how the curse left her with strange looking birthmark on her arm with symbols that quickly spread over her entire body.
It seems as though there's something really strange about this "cursed doll". Rumor says that someone sends the Puppet Doll before the play premiers and causes any actress who plays the role of Ophelia to eventually Die!!! Who is behind this mysterious curse and why are they targeting actresses at the theater?
Here are the character's you encounter in this wonderfully weird mystery:
◾Angela
The protagonist's cousin who works as a stage actress at the town's theater. She fell under the curse that targets all the women who played the role of Ophelia.
◾Leroy
Angela's husband. He aids the protagonist in the investigation
◾The Theater's Director
A mysterious man who owns the theater that Angela works for.
◾Beatrix
Angela's co-worker who wants to play the role of Ophelia herself.
◾Doll Assistant
A mysterious doll given to Angela. She is rumored to be cursed.
◾Spider Puppets (missing from this edition).
I was really engaged in the story of this edition and the wacky gameplay mechanics. I think casual gamers and fans of this series will enjoy this latest chapter in the on-going saga of the Puppetshow series. Cheers Show less

This was one of the best Puppetshow games since the original. I really was immersed in the puzzles and storyline of the theater director/puppetmaster and his quest to "replace" his wife with a puppet. Each scene was gorgeous, from a moonlit cemetery with swirling snow to the theater stage. And the movement of the puppets is superb, from the small wind-up doll to a larger doll that moves as you read different time codes that are carved on her body.
Your helper, an adorable dark haired doll with a fluffy white bow secured by a skull, is not always helpful, but that is part of what makes this story unexpected. Hidden object scenes are cleverly done, from words popping up from a book to a challenging scene that involves finding shapes that are very well hidden in a wrought-iron gate. Puzzles were imaginative, with standouts being three rings with four different colored clouds, which are all white until you make a selection. All three have to be lit at the same time to proceed, and if you miss, the clouds shift. The horse ride to avoid obstacles was challenging, and I always enjoy Amax's mazes. This one involved your doll helper navigating through rats and spider webs to retrieve an object.
A standout HOP featured a puppet at a sewing machine. The scene opens with six circles that provide a texture. You find the textures in the scene. To find one, you enter the scene under the sewing machine to retrieve thread spools to product one of the textures. Then, the scene turns into matching six different pairs. Great fun!
Collectibles are flowers and morphing snowflakes. I found all the flowers, which are showcased in a window ledge with snow falling around, and a grey cat in a basket swishing his tail. A description of each flower is given. Very relaxing scene and it is also featured as a screen saver as part of the extras. I didn't find all the snowflakes. Very challenging. I did notice later that there was a helpful indicator in a top hat on the lower left hand corner of the screen that tells you if you have found the snowflake in each location. I'll have to replay it again! Wonderful music that fits the game, haunting and gorgeous. Lovely artwork with the most realistic snow I've seen. Can't wait for the next Puppetshow!
