This is one of my all time favourite series. Half way into the game I have not come across anything new that I have not encountered previously in other games of this series. But quite happily I also haven't seen any ghosts or bandits either...(but can't say they wont appear.)

However it is a nice blend of the features from other games all popping up in the levels. A bit of a mixed bag of memories. One thing that stands out is there is no handholding with the tutorial. (There seems to be an assumption that you have played before and know how to use your backpack and spells etc ).

I did even as an experienced player get a bit stuck on two levels wondering how I put out a fire or heal someone. (I was looking around for a healing alter...but didn't realise I had a healing and a water sign sitting there at my left screen arrow) And of course there is a strategy guide with this CE version

One good thing is that there is a relaxed choice, but the timer on this is really quite adequate maybe even generous as long as you strategise. Level goals must be taken seriously, there are times where if you clear the whole screen rather than concentrate on what you need, you may not beat the timer.

My advice to anyone new to the series is go back and play the other games and get used to the features and mechanics of the game with tutorials.. or play relaxed first. For those who have played the other games, I still think this is worth buying. Nothing totally new that I can see, but as it is such a mixed bag it is really enjoyable.

There is plenty of fun and strategy with old friends here. Enjoy! Show less

OMG how exciting number 6 I love it !!
If you haven't played any of the Moai Games start with the first one and you'll fall in love. Great story awesome play not to easy not impossible simply perfect. Once I start I cant stop

Yes, Maoi games get more complicated with each release, but in my humble opinion, that is the fun/challenge. Most TM games I can finish w/in hours; this game takes days. That, again IMHO, makes this game an outstanding TM game..

As a previous poster indicated, finding the artifacts help create potions/equipment, and the runes help in meeting the 3 star objective (hovering over each will advise how these items work). And, the strategy guide is very helpful to complete the levels. I did find on some levels, that the guide left out a step, but in replaying the level, I was able to determine what was needed to achieve the 3 stars.

It is important to open every cache/chest on each level to obtain all of the artifacts/potions/runes. Sometimes, I will complete the level even though I know I won't make the 3 stars the first time just to be able to open all the caches/chests to get the items. I then go back and replay the level to get 3 stars. Yes, sometimes it will take me 3-4 tries, but as I said, I love the challenge!

What's the point of playing a game that is supposed to be a strategy (or TM) game if it's a no-brainer? Moai (and Incredible Dracula) are the best TM games created because they give you your money's worth and make you think. The level of development for this type of game always blows my mind when I think of all the things that have to work together to make each step lead to the next.

Again, this is not a game that will be a breeze to get through. It takes thought, and achieving the 3 stars is difficult but satisfying once accomplished. Too bad the forum is no longer available as it was a great place to get guidance.

I am looking forward to Moai VII. I totally recommend this game! Show less

I rarely buy collector's editions, but Moai VI: Unexpected Guests Collector's Edition is one of the best values for my money that I have ever encountered on Big Fish. I am a huge fan of the series, and despite other reviewer's quibbles, this one is every good as, if not better than, all the previous games. It is a tribute to the developers that they continue to deliver such satisfying game play on a sixth outing. It is just challenging enough that you may have to replay some levels to earn gold, but not so difficult that it drives you crazy. I love the evolving story line, wonderful characters, and colorful graphics.

The Collector's Edition, which is a long game to begin with, includes 20 additional levels that are even more challenging than the first 45. Money well spent, in my opinion. I play a lot of time management games, and this series is just head and shoulders above the rest in terms of fun. As another reviewer said, it is what time management/strategy games should strive to be! I Show less

Another in the Moai series with the familiar operations and tricks and with fewer of the problems or things to defeat. I found this to be as good as or better than the predecessors. I think that this is the enjoyable, fun, type of game with a backstory which is a bit better than many. This is a good game to play for relaxation.

I love these games, yes it is nonsensical but fun, I like there are different modes of play and one is untimed. You have to plan and check where resources are or you will have to start the level over. Moai is just the game that I like. It's fun and to some level challenging. This is the 6th in the series and it stayed with the original theme.

I like to play computer games and relax after work. This is a perfect game for that! It is fun for adults, not one of those annoying Time Management games for kids. Love the new landscapes and power ups (The builder's scroll is great!). Best Moai yet!!!

We absolutely love this new release...its even better than we anticipated !!! I own all the other Moai games and after I finished playing, I'd like to mention, that it would be wise to start off playing the first one in this series...Why? What a fun game this is....so much to do and to think about. The story-line is perfect and easy to follow !!!

I liked how one reviewer put it...this game is what every developer of strategy games should strive to be...which was very well said and I totally agree with !!!

The artistry is beautifully done...incredible actually...I'm constantly amazed at the talents these artists have !!! The music is very south pacific in nature, and very enjoyable to listen to !!!

I'd like to also mention that this is not a game you can complete in just a few hours...it sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries to get through some of the more difficult levels. It took us 4 days - 3+++ hours each day to finish this release so don't be in a hurry...you might miss something important !!!

We bought the Collectors Edition...which gave us 20 extra levels to play which we've enjoyed immensely and worth every penny of it !!! I hope they release more like this...I'll be one of the first in line to buy !!!
