It is, what it is, a lovely HO game. No silly puzzle before moving on to next level. Only buy if you want just HO.

If you love hidden object games this one is fantastic. You will not believe how long this game is. This is one of the best hidden object games on Big Fish.

A beautiful drawn HOG that is colorful and not insulting to the intelligence. I was about to cancel my membership until I stumbled upon this one. I'm so tired of the dark, depressing HOGs. Please make more like this. :)

I'm not crazy about this old-fashioned HOG series but when I opened up the first investigation and saw a large ominous-looking Manor, I got a little excited. I thought the investigation would have me searching each room in the creepy manor filled with things that go bump in the night, but that just wasn't the case. Instead, they chose odd locations that I could sware were the same scenes from the other Secret Investigations games. They had a golden opportunity to pique my interest, but the scene locations were boring and 30-40 scenes into the demo I completely lost interest.

There are 10 Investigations available, Lost Inheritance, Unknown Masterpiece, The Tailor's Case, True Detective, Love Sick, Unexpected Present, Mysterious Bankrupt, Final Trick, Iron Health, and Noble Motive, and each investigation takes place over 100 different scene locations. The Investigation isn't really an investigation, it's a story progression in the form of Texted Dialog boxes by the character doing the so-called investigation, before the start of each HO level and usually very brief. (there is a skip dialog tab) There are 18 Trophy Achievements to earn, mostly for finding different increments of objects or using the various Hint's available in specific increments.

The options are still pretty basic, and once again, there are no Difficulty Mode options available, it's a Timed Game you play for points and try to obtain all 3 Stars. You are given ample time to find the Pictured Items in the beginning because there are only a handful of items to find in about two and a half minutes, but after the "breaking in period" you soon realize time is not on your side as you're left scrambling to find several items at a break-neck speed. There is a Star Meter on the top-right side that shows 3 Gold Stars that slowly turn silver (fades vertically, for example, the left side of the star will be gold, the right side silver at the halfway mark) Even if the star has just a tip of gold remaining you will earn that star in its entirety. I would just keep an eye on the third star and when I knew I wasn't going to finish the level before losing a star, I would click the exit tab and restart the level. Some of the items are different each time you replay a level, but because you just played the level, most of the objects are easily spotted the second visit.

Each scene has one item that is considered an Inventory Item and will automatically be placed in a box to the right of the Inventory box. Once found, you have to drag the inventory item to its logical counterpart, within the scene itself, to complete the task, such as finding a palette to paint a tribal shield. The scene locations have decent graphics, but the items themselves aren't proportionate, and often times aren't the same color, or even in the same position as pictured.

You begin the game with 5 of each available Hint Booster, once those run out, you have to wait for the Booster to recharge after each use. The first Hint Booster Highlights one Random item from the list. The second Booster Removes 3 Random items from the list. The third Booster Freezes the Timer. The fourth Booster illuminates the entire scene during the dark scenes that would normally only have a small flashlight beam to search with.

Looking on the bright side, if you enjoy this type of Timed Hidden Object Game, it has a great replay value because it has a thousand different scene locations, and each time you replay a scene the items to find are different.

What's good?
*You can play timed or untimed and still get your three stars
*It has achievements, how many objects found etc, but some of them are as obscure as 'how many times you used the hint button' to get it lol!
*you can go back and play levels anytime you want and get a different list each time.
There is a decent hint setup. One that hightlights one object and one that removes three from your list, and the timer (which you use to play untimed levels)
*There are five separate investigations..and as you get new lists each time you replay a level..it will last for ever really

What's not so good?
*There is a click penalty if you are timed and you have to wait a few seconds to proceed
*Some objects are actually just 'faded' and very hard to spot
*You either have music or sound effects..there is only on and off..no slider

What's novel ?
*your objects wont always be in logical places, expect to find giant frozen chickens against a building, or wallet in the sky etc lol.

This is a very uninspiring game, but I didn't 'dislike' it. It will be the one that sits on my desktop for times of just wanting to do nothing much. The graphics are not on par with many other pure hidden object series. Even the storyline of solving the crimes is quite bland. Its a very 'beige' game but it will have its 'place' for many. Try the demo. Show less

Redeeming quality to me was the storyline about an inheritance. You get a piece of the story between each puzzle.

Might be something fun for the family to do together after thanksgiving dinner or something.

I'll pass, but you might like it. My description is pretty spot on. Show less

I love hidden object games - however, I don't like when I am timed ! I play to relax - not to be in a frenzy to try to "beat the clock" or have to replay a scene because I didn't get the "stars". Oh well - others may well like the game and consider it fun. I did not. so be it.

Title says it all .Had good expectations as looked bright & welcoming .Love just HO's find them relaxing .Too much dialogue , limited amount of HO on each level and some just blurred . Not up to date in presentation ,very disappointed , could have been so much better .

I enjoyed the first Secret Investigation game and I was pleased to see another one - however, a number of the scenes in this one are duplicates of the first, the scenes are reversed. For HO fans this a great game - simple and challenging

Don't waste your money on this game if you like a good hidden object game. I would not recommend it at all. It was so boring it just didn't grab me at all I was bored to death.
