Holy water! Cursed House 7 just raised the strategy bar with a few new hair-raising features that will surely have your head spinning. The Match 3 games by this developer are some of the most challenging games available, nun the less, they always bend over backward to add exciting twists for their diehard fans. Throw up you're hands Cursed fans and rejoice, it's time to banish the evil spirits that dwell within this wretched CURSED HOUSE!
The High Difficulty mode has returned. In this mode, some parts will be impassible or will take too long to complete if you do things in the wrong order, and there are no pop-up hints available. In Casual mode, you won't require as many power-ups to complete levels and there are no impassible levels. Both modes can be played in a Timed Mode, a Limited Moves Mode (which I recommend) or a Relaxed untimed Mode and you can switch between modes to help you beat difficult levels.

You have to match Stars to receive a Power-up, a Match 4 Stars will give you Dynamite and a Match 5 Stars will give you a Morphing Power-up (just click when it's on the desired power-up) The Morphing Power-up choices include a Dynamite Barrel, Lightning which removes all of one kind of tile, or a Rocket which targets objects from most important to least important depending on what obstacles remain. The chosen morph can be canceled within 10 seconds by right-clicking. Power-ups are usually a critical component because most coins are blocked by obstacles that require a power-up to destroy them, and most often by a specific power-up.
Collecting Coins is always the goal and there are several different types of Coins that can be collected with an adjacent match but usually blocked by an obstacle that requires a specific power-up:
$~Gold Coins: adjacent match
$~Dust Coins: adjacent match twice
$~Frozen Coins: direct Fire to melt (also works on Snow)
$~Trunk Coins: adjacent match (collect all to open Trunks.
$~Locked Coins: collect the key coin.
$~Coin Molds: move gold drops to fill the molds.
$~Half Coins: clear a path between halves until they adjoin.
$~Bug Coins: destroy the bugs to unlock the coin.
There are Obstacles that require using strategies to overcome. Lots and lots of Obstacles, some old, some new, but always challenging:
☆~Magnets: will magnetize all rocket power-ups and lightning
☆~Bombs: requires adjacent match, Lightning or Cannons to detonate.
☆~Darkness: requires a direct ray of light (light is reflected by mirrors)
☆~Trunks: collect all Trunk Coins then make adjacent match near Trunk to open.
☆~Crates: adjacent match or power-up.
☆~Shielded Crates: adjacent match near unshielded sides or power-up.
☆~Cannon: adjacent match next to the wick.
☆~Bugs: use power-ups or cannons to destroy them.
☆~Vials: move liquid drops to fill vials that block areas.
☆~Papyrus: make matches in the sequence shown on the papyrus.
☆~Ground Tiles: make an adjacent match.
☆~Lava Stones: use power-ups or cannon to destroy them.
☆~Fog: adjacent match or cannons.
☆~Ice: make a match with the tile inside the Ice.
☆~Snow: adjacent match or fire
☆~Chains: adjacent match or cannons.
☆~Shields: remove the required number of specified tiles shown inside the bubble.
☆~Red & Green Cells: adjacent matches or power-ups.
☆~Red & Green Hot Stones: remove all Red & Green Cells.
☆~Locks: create a path for the Key towards the Lock.
☆~Electricity Emitters: create a continuous path of Blue tiles from Emitter to Bulb. (single adjacent electricity tiles can be moved into place)

After playing a few Match 3 levels you can play a Mini-Game that does include a Skip feature. My personal favorites are the Spot The Differences scenes which I think they do an incredible job of making the obvious not-so-obvious.

Kudos developers! Even though we are on No 7 you have found new twists that make it almost seem feel like a brand new game. The usual tasks of collecting a certain number of items are here, fire, frozen tiles, darkness, and many of the old features, but how you go about fixing them has some very new twists. There is a help book included.
There is 'sequencing' of matching in order the list of tiles you must clear, so you must make sure you have enough tiles on the screen to make the goal (or hope that they drop thus when you start) or go back to the beginning of the list again.
Lamp lighting requires you to follow a coloured path to by placing blue tiles in a row to reach a lightbulb. The twist is great, as long as you have a blue you can slot another next to, you can just drag it into place without having to make a match. (must be adjacent, up, down, sideways)
Bonuses don't seem to be made anymore by creating large matches, but most things are set of by bombs or cannons that require an adjacent match then they time down to explode to start fire or clear your way.
All the old suspect mini games are still in (card, spot the difference etc) There is relaxed, easy and hard mode, limited moves or timed choice. There is many of the old (in fact nearly all lol) features in this game but it will keep you on your toes making sure you are figuring out the 'next move' as one can open up yet another task to be done
I'm loving this game! I am loving the thought put in to make it entertaining and for all abilities. Try the demo and be patient with yourself as you try the new style. Enjoy! Show less

What sets all Cursed House games apart from other Match 3's is the amount of strategy required to get through the game. The Devs really put a lot of time into creating the Gameplay in the latest Cursed House edition.
Even towards the beginning of this game on Relaxed Mode, I had to read and re-read the Rule Book (top left of screen) and think about moves. Not only do you have learn what part of the game does what, you eventually must learn to pay attention to the order you address Obstacles.
When playing Cursed House 1 for the first time, I remember the feeling of joy when I finally figured out the strategy for winning the Final Level. This game is like that on almost every level PLUS after going through the game on Relaxed there'll be the challenge replaying it on Timed and then Limited Moves.
If you like Match 3's that require strategy and involve learning and practice, Cursed House 7 is definitely rewarding and totally worth the purchase price. Show less

I own all the Cursed House games, and while they keep the same general format, each time the developers come up with something new to tackle. This time they've added electricity, and made the puzzles even trickier to work out. I enjoy the 'spot the difference' puzzles, because the artwork always makes the differences tricky to spot, and these and the solitaire break up the game nicely.
I recommend this game!

In this one there are several play modes, my favorite is Limited Moves. I have fun trying each one. You can switch modes to help beat a difficult level and I think that is a very useful feature. It is just one of many features that makes Cursed House so entertaining. Controlling my frustration while playing is a good thing!
The mini games can be skipped, but I enjoy each one. Especially love Spot the Difference because the items are very well hidden and I can't pass up a good challenge. The developer of Cursed House has done a splendid job, offering the best gameplay and the best challenge in Match 3 games that are available at BFG. You can see that a great amount of thought and care goes into every game. Each new Cursed House has something a little different to increase the challenge and keep the game from becoming ho-hum. I have been plenty frustrated, but never bored. Silly maybe, but another thing I enjoy is the sound effects.
So, of course, this was a no-brainer purchase for me. If not familiar with Cursed House, try the demo and maybe you'll get hooked like all the fans of this great Match 3.

I was immediately blown away by the new features in this 7th installment. Somebody was thinking in overdrive when they started to put #7 together. Other reviewers have gone into great detail about the game, so I won't repeat any of what has already been covered so completely. Suffice to say, this is a terrific game and very challenging. I had to read the instructions concerning the new features, even though I've been playing Cursed House games for a while now. Last week I sat at my computer and thought "Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a new Cursed House game?" but I had no hope of that happening until later in the year. I'm so glad someone somewhere read my mind and up popped a new Cursed House game a few days later. Show less

Made it to the end! The icons were not too 'busy' or hard to make out as a few from the earlier games, so it wasn't a strain on the eyes. At first I wasn't so sure I liked this one as much as others of the past, but by Level 5 I had changed my mine. I play games to relax, and while I had to work a bit on this one, it was still a great stress reliever. This has made my favorites list! Show less
