Starts in the cold zone but soon warms up

If I was going to say anything negative about this game it is that it starts in the cold zone which puts you in a cold mood at the start lol.The good thing about that is it gets it over with then you can warm up.

This developer never lets you down always adding new features. I have the CE of this and will only get a CE if I know the history of the games as you can end up paying double for little extra.. I would say the CE is worth it but only when a sale on. This standard edition is still a very good buy. I love the music here in particular the one with the chanting. There is always something different to do,I love the squirrel just adds another character. You need to think a lot on this one to get your 3 stars but even in relaxed it is a challenge. I reviewed the CE of this game and scored it a five. It is a nifty, colourful, quite clever standard TM, but it is quite strategic not just a total walk in the park.

The bonuses (run fast, production etc) appear early which is nice, but there are a lot of new features here that will keep you scurrying. There is a wolf that stops you collecting until you destroy his lair, and he keeps coming ...Show more

The bonuses (run fast, production etc) appear early which is nice, but there are a lot of new features here that will keep you scurrying. There is a wolf that stops you collecting until you destroy his lair, and he keeps coming back till that is done. There are areas that are blacked out so you dont know what's behind them until you light the torches. (just once I lit the wrong one first and had to repeat as the building I needed was behind that one)

There is the tavern game, a mahjong game with rune symbols, and as I move through I am now coming across other familiar features like dropping the barricade stacks by standing on the rune symbol. There are many familiar features as well as the new ones, but in this game they just have so many to choose from you will not get bored.

There are sawmills and farms, gold mines and quarries to build and upgrade for resources, and magic chests where you get to choose out of 3 which resource you would like. Of course there are bridges and ladders to build and paths to clear.

There are 3 modes of play relaxed, normal and expert. It really is a good game, not repetitive and eye pleasing. Its number 6 but its not a total 'same game'...plenty of new stuff. Always try the demo though to see if it is for you. Enjoy! Show less

I have the CE of this. Bought it without doing the demo because I have the other Viking Brothers games and I knew it would be good. It turned out to be the best one yet! That little squirrel is a wonderful addition to the cast of characters. He is so cute (and smart!) and moves just like a real squirrel. I hope very much the developers keep him. Looking forward to Viking Brothers VII.

I recommend this game!

A Time Management fan can always count on Viking Brothers to be a top-notched, strategy-based game that's fun to play. They always add new features to keep them interesting and new, to us original diehard fans, which keeps us coming back for more. With that being said, I hate cold weather, I'd rather be sweating in a 100° climate than freezing during a "great white death snowstorm" and since "Winter Is Here" I just wasn't crazy about the theme of this episode where everything is frozen and everything needs to be chopped out of iceblocks, it looks exactly like Ohio :( If you don't mind the bland icy tundra, the game itself is excellent.

There are 45 levels +15 in the Collector's Edition version's Bonus Levels. You can play in a Casual untimed mode, Normal or Expert modes of difficulty and there are 40 Achievement awards to earn. (+4 in the CE version?) When you earn an award a pop up appears on the bottom left of the screen just long enough to read it, without being obtrusive or slowing down progress.

There is a Star meter on the top right to help you keep tabs on getting close to losing a precious star. You can earn up to 3 Stars per level, and the only complaint I have with this game is that once again, after finishing the level, there are no dancing characters, and, there's a brief lag between finishing the level and receiving the Score pop-up. Several times I found myself panicking, wondering if I had missed fulfilling a level goal because the characters were just casually walking around as if I still had to point them in the right direction to finish a task.

The Magic Chests have returned that allows you to choose which resource you want, such as Wood, Stone, or Food.
You'll still have the usual goals of building and upgrading Sawmills, Quarries, Farms, and Gold Mines, repairing Ladders and Bridges made of various materials. Because the brothers are shipwrecked on Queen Elsa's Frozen island, you'll need to build fires to keep resources from freezing into a block of ice, chase away starving Snow Wolves, or build Igloos to keep warm, brrr. As you progress, you will also be able to use the Bonus Icon to add workers, make the Workers move faster, earn more money, extra resources, etc.

Viking Brothers is one of the FEW series on BFG that I have had to be selective about buying. This installment is a perfect example. I couldn't even get three stars on the first level my first try. That doesn't bode well for the game. Someone should buy the developers a watch cause they clearly cannot tell time.

I don't recommend this game.
