Let's face it, after the first Crown of the Empire disaster, any following releases could surely only improve, it couldn't possibly get worse than it's 1.7 average rating predecessor, right? Let's face it, after the first Crown of the Empire disaster, any following releases could surely only improve, it couldn't possibly get worse than it's 1.7 average rating predecessor, right? When I first started playing Crown of the Empire: Around The World, I was impressed because the very first level seemed to employ some tricky strategies...maybe too tricky?

I think the developers panicked a bit and went overboard, I think they overcomplicated things and made the level goals unclear, let me rephrase that, they made it difficult to understand which strategies the player should employ to accomplish the level goals. They made it difficult to understand which resources are required for each TM task such as the buildings, removing holes, repairing bridges, etc. which all requires an extra step of clicking on each individual task, which in turn takes valuable time, which causes the player to lose valuable time. They gave us a Strategy Guide that simply shows the order in which you should build the buildings, etc. but it doesn't allow you to access the SG while playing without losing progress???

Let's move on to the graphics, they were good, I especially enjoyed the graphics of Africa with the lazy lions laying in the path, Zebra's, tribesmen, monoliths, the desert vibe, I loved all of the countries they have chosen, Scotland with its orange leaves, sheep roaming the countryside, harvesting crops, trains, chests, and of course Nessy the Loch Ness Monster, Malta with its knights, ports, bridges, coal and rocky landscape, Europe seems to have an ogre situation? lol

Collector's Edition Version Extra's
50 Main Levels +10 CE Levels, 15 Achievements, 5 Music Soundtracks, 10 Concept Art Pictures, a Strategy Guide (and not a very good one at that) No Collectibles, No Morphing Objects.

I still maintain this is very confusing. There is a lot of interesting and challenging tasks to do such as putting eagles back in their nests.
The main problem I found is that the further you get in to this game the more gets added to the point that each level is very long and you get prompted to upgrade buildings, however be extremely careful to not upgrade every thing even when prompted to do so.

I would be doing well on a long level which can get tedious but then you get to the end and you need 2 more food items which you do not have as you have upgraded a building when you should not have.

the only option you have is to replay again which because the levels are so long you can not afford to keep doing this.

Make sure , which I do now, to not upgrade anything until you are sure you will not run out later. After all who needs 2 or 3 buildings of workers upgraded.
Because this is the SE you cannot refer to the guide but that was pretty useless as it was not accessible in the game level.

There are some interesting things going on but also a lot of repetitiveness going on. it is good to see this dev trying but it does need a lot of refining.

As to SE or CE ? That is purely up to taste and if you feel 10 extra levels are enough as the guide is next to useless. I think the SE is probably the better buy. If you keep an eye out that you don't upgrade too much then you should be fine.

They could do better but a big improvement. Show less

The game was fun but it was really frustrating when you put the cursor on the next item to pick up or interact with it would show a small screen which would block your view. It was hard to time pick ups when you couldn't have the cursor ready on the item. It was a fun game but this one little thing made it frustrating to play.
