Once again another great game for Christmas that the whole family can enjoy. I played the SE demo and will probably buy it when I have a free token. I found the music does not interfere with the game and is very relaxing. The storyline has a good twist and the games are not too hard but some take a bit of working out.

Beautiful graphics; great storyline! Five stars all the way! I purchased the SE version. I'm sure the CE version was very interesting. The scenes were beautifully done--very colorful and pleasing to the eye!

I know some people think the quality of Christmas Stories has waned over the years, but I disagree. I've played all of them from the beginning and the festive graphics and heartwarming storylines keep me coming back every year. I do think the title was a bit misleading though, since I don't recall every actually seeing a Christmas tree forest (and boy, was I looking forward to it!)

Side note to developers: If any game developers just happen to be reading this review I just wanted to say I MISS JOURNALS! I rarely get to sit down and play a game all the way through in one sitting, so the journal was a big help in catching me up on things I had forgotten about. Show less

Any other day of the year most people would take one look at this game and think it's the cheesiest game they've ever played and they'd scramble for the exit tab. But it's Christmas and our attitudes change, cheesy is exactly what we want, and Elephant Games has the ability to create the perfect graphics to get everyone...including the Grinch, into the Christmas Spirit!

Helper/Gadget
A Magical Snowglobe allows Inga's mother to communicate with her and helps guide the two of them towards a Christmas miracle.

Morphing Objects/Collectibles: (CE version only)
There are 26 Morphing Presents that morph at a decent speed and for a change aren't the size of baby elephants!! There are 48 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces which allows you to assemble four-12 piece Jigsaw Puzzles (3 in the Main Chapters and 1 in the Bonus Chapter) There are also 12 Collectible Christmas Mascots.

Hidden Object Scenes:
There are only 12 Hidden Object Scenes +7 in the CE Bonus Chapter. What I am noticing from this developer in the last few games is a marked improvement in the Hidden Object Scenes! The objects are smaller, they are clearly making an attempt to blend the objects into the scenery and choosing objects that will blend into the scene rather than stick out like a sore thumb...when developers try to improve...I always notice! There are Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Matching Pairs, Matching Related Objects, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Find & Replace, and of course, they are all filled with Christmas spirit!. There are no alternate games available.

Mini-Games:
There are 15 Mini-Games +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Most of the mini-games are the usual Elephant Games puzzles all dressed up for Christmas. They range from easy-breezy to medium-difficult, but they are just kind of whimsical and light-hearted to get you in the Christmas spirit :) Here are a few of my personal favorites:

1-Untangle Santa Ropes.
2-Match partial snowflakes.
3-Connect identical colored token connectors to form a line.

Bonus Chapter (Collector's Edition version only)
Help save the kittens of Catstown when foul play is running rampant and these poor kittens are losing more than their mittens, they are receiving fake presents! This is a decent story with a slightly above average-length spanning over 8 Scene Locations with 6 Mini-Games and 7 Hidden Object Scenes. You will search for the remaining 8 Morphing Presents, 3 Mascots, and 12 Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces which allows you to complete the final Jigsaw Puzzle.

I need help! I cannot place wooden boards, nails and hammer where they tell me to to make ladder! I've tried over and over and even the walk through.

I was able to finish this game in under 3 hours. It had a good story line, but the ending kind of was quick and could have been done better. The game play was fun. Things all made sense, rather on the easy side. But the mini-games and hos were fun. A bit different from the regular same old ones. It was worth the price. I bought the SE instead of CE.

I recommend this game!

I really didn't like the graphics on this 9th edition of Christmas Stories. When you compare them to the WOW graphics we used to have in CS A Christmas Carol these are so cartoonish. The turquois blue is used everywhere and there isn't enough shadowing to define objects in the scene which are already too busy. Some scenes were better than others.

It does have a jump map, which is nice, but it isn't all that helpful. It doesn't point out which areas you need to go to next because all 3 open areas say "come back later."

I loved the CG gnome. Whoever owns that task at Elephant really makes the game better with those little special effects; so well done. Show less

Great until it gave me no way to to pick up a needed part and the hint just kept telling me where to pick it up as if I didnt know... but nothing would let me pick it up so completely stuck and not able to get to the next task.

I don't recommend this game.
