I fell in love with Pixel Art-type games a few years back but then those games grew stale because the developer refused to add or fix features and the images were less than desirable. Artists of Fortune has just built a better mousetrap so to speak with some of the coolest features ever! This developer was obviously listening, did his homework, and poured his heart and soul into a game that has everything we've been asking for.
No offense to the previous reviewer, but the cells are absolutely large enough to see...you just have to use the slider bar, map, or mouse to enlarge the image. Did I say map? I certainly did, this is by far the coolest feature I've ever seen! The colors are shown as individual Crayons (# or letter specific) at the bottom of the board and once you highlight a crayon, all associated cells will appear in an easy-to-spot yellow color. The Map shows the image and where all those yellow cells are located within the picture so you'll know exactly where the cells are located! There is a slight flaw with this when an image calls for a yellow color because once those yellows are filled in, it's difficult to see the empty yellow highlighted cells of the current color on the map. This was easily remedied by not filling in the yellows until last.
The Crayons were so much more authentic versus a table with colored blocks! When you click on a crayon, a tab appears to tell you exactly how many cells are available in that specific color...how cool is that! When all cells are filled in, the associated crayon disappears! There are two difficulty mode options as well, a Relaxed mode, and a more like the real thing mode which doesn't protect the previously colored cells. In this mode, if you accidentally paint a cell that was already colored with a different color, the cell returns to default and the crayon will reappear, requiring you to repaint that cell...how cool is that! (again, if you don't like this feature, chose the relaxed mode!)
Some of the cells will reward you with icons that fill the Power-ups, similar to mosaic puzzles. There is an Autofill Powerup that will automatically fill in the desired group of cells, a Rainbow Tile Powerup that will paint the cells using any color correctly, and a Blockbuster powerup that blasts a rectangular area with the correct color...how cool is that!
There are 5 different Planets to visit and each planet has 20 puzzles available, with 16 Trophies to earn throughout. You cannot visit another planet until it's unlocked, but you can choose to play any of the 20 puzzles on the current planet in any order...how cool is that! I'm hoping that this developer will have other themes down the road such as Nature, Landscapes, Animals, etc!
This is a game with out-of-the-box thinking, they truly reinvented the wheel to give us amazing features and I loved it! The Cursor has a pinpoint end for accuracy and the game mechanics are absolutely flawless (which is more than I can say about the "other" pixel art game) Won't you join us at my new forum thewoodsforum.boards.net :) Show less

I love this game but there are a couple of things I don't like about it. First there is no challenge to the game it's just basic fill in the space. Secondly you can't make a mistake because the game won't accept a mistake & won't allow you to click on the wrong color..
I recommend this game!

With 40 colours there is a lot more to do. I do get a little annoyed with the paintbrush popping up every time you hit another milestone but it doesn't stick around long...just long enough to obscure the picture so you can make a mistake. Then I found out that you can have the finished colours stay that way with the relaxed version. I don't pay much attention to how many of each symbol are in the picture so I do find myself looking for ones that are no longer in play-it doesn't jump to the next colour-one game kept jumping to number one whereas Pixel Art jumps you to the next one after the one you've done-I would prefer this but not a deal breaker. It looks like there are tons of pictures-each planet has a selection & you don't have to do them in any order. Show less

Now that's something new for a change! I don't think I can adequately describe this game, so hopefully Pennmom submits her take on it, to help us out.
Right off, the music drove me nuts, luckily it can be muted. It looks really different from the paint games we are used to but works pretty much on the same premise. There are 3 power-ups which you will definitely be grateful for. The Bucket paints an entire area of the same color, the Block Buster blasts a rectangular area, painting the tiles underneath, the Rainbow Brush when swept across the tiles paints them all, regardless of color. If you paint swiftly while the Brush icon is in motion, you can cover a lot of territory. You will love this power-up for the larger images because it speeds up the process considerably. This was my favorite of the three. Each requires a brief recharge, the Brush a tad longer.
Choose your colors from the crayons at bottom of screen. They are lettered and numbered, the number of pixels for each color is displayed, very helpful feature. Many of the images have MANY colors, so you won't be finishing them quickly. The 100 images will provide painting fun for a very long time! Your selected letters will appear in a yellow shade. They are very tiny so you will make good use of the Zoom feature, plus you can move the image around. I don't see that the smaller pixelated image to the right was necessary, but I may be mistaken.
There are several planets containing levels to paint. Although you can paint any image you want, you have to complete them all before you can switch planets. Your % progress for each image is shown. There's a HUGE array of colors and they are bright with varying shades of each. As you complete a color, its crayon disappears from the screen.
It took a long time to finish the first image so I used the rest of the demo to check out the others. The subject matter is quite childish, but the artwork is interesting. I don't really care for the style, but still, it is somewhat of a breath of fresh air in the paint by number genre. I'm on the fence about purchasing, but may pick it up in a good sale. I am always on the look-out for something new in this category and "Artists of Fortune" certainly is that!
The game played very smoothly, very quick response. You just might like this one as a change of pace! Show less

This is an interesting addition to the world of painting pictures. The entire background of each picture is gray with white letters and numbers to depict their color of paint. You select your colors from a row across the bottom of crayons. The problem that exists is if you leave the picture whole the squares are too tiny. Like all other painting pictures you can scroll in and get up close and personal with the squares to fill them in. You then can move around the puzzle with the right mouse. When you select the color to paint the squares highlight in yellow. This is good until you have to paint areas of the puzzle yellow. Then the squares are very hard to see and find.
You have three tools that have to be selected to use to help you along the way:
The bucket paints entire areas of a selected color. Similar to all other painting games it fills entire areas of a selected color. Then it has to refill. I like these helps as they refill faster than other paint games.
The "bomb" paints all the different colors in a given square. It is nice to use if you have a variety of colors in a small area. Then you aren't filling one square of a color at a time.
The multicolor paint brush whitewashes the puzzles. It colors every square that you paint over. This allows you to paint a lot at one time without having to select the different colors.
If I could talk to the game designer I would tell them to make the puzzle background white and then use gray as an indicator of the pieces to paint. Using a color that is similar to colors that you paint with is visually hard to see. They tried to be different than the other puzzle makers but in doing so made it very difficult to see the squares. If this was the challenge to make the painting harder, it may make many people unhappy. Show less
