It used to be I was just about finished one and the next would appear. I think the last 3 came faster than I could finish one. before the next ones are opened it would be wonderful to have appealing images to work with and pretty colors. I liked the cat very much but it obviously would require more than the demo time. I painted a bit of each color on each image and didn't care for the small variety of shades.

It's impossible to complete level one and get to the other pics. So as it's always a blind purchase, hoping for the best, I decided to stop. The devs get the $$ but what are WE getting? I love the challenge and time involved on each piece. It becomes a long game in spite of just 64 images. The more elaborate ones are especially rewarding. I don't like juvenile pics and I really don't want to color cars and clocks, etc.
Pixel Art displeases me for several reasons: The scroll jumps forward when trying to select a color. It often takes many clicks to pick up a color. The various greys for the numbered areas are hard on the eyes. High on my con list are, having only half a second to view the finished image and it being zapped down to a bit larger than an oversized postage stamp. No matter how beautiful the colors and subject may be, the quality disappears as we are left with a very small, blurred image.
I own 12 Pixel Arts, have finished only a few. But I will be the first in line if some changes are made to jazz up this series that I once loved. It needs a few of those bells and whistles to make it more enjoyable for me. My ideal quiet time is computerized painting and jigsaws, and my 2 kitties don't get to knock everything to the floor as they help me have fun.
Pixel Art is very relaxing, music combines with faint nature sounds, subject matter is varied enough to appeal to older children and adults. I'm just not crazy about it anymore and have found another much more entertaining. Show less

Even though BF is way behind on the Pixel Art series, after 16 releases one would think that something would improve to keep fans interested? Even though BF is way behind on the Pixel Art series, after 16 releases one would think that something would improve to keep fans interested? Pixel Art is now just a "dated" old-fashioned game with none of the features that the new kids on the block have to offer. Other pixel art games have so many useful features, such as maps that show the current color locations, features that tell you how many cells each color has available, and one of my favorites was choosing the desired colors shown as crayons versus just square color boxes. (which btw: I've had to click 3-4 times before the color is accepted, not to mention how difficult it is to click the arrow to scroll to the next set of numbers. It's also a pain to have to scroll back & forth between colored number sets)
Although some of the images are more appealing than the last few games in the series, for the most part, these images are rather boring and lack "curb appeal". The chosen colors are always bland, unappealing, and rarely pop with shades and hues that complement one another versus shades that muddle together like you just added a glob of red, yellow, and blue paint together to make a huge brown mess.
Pixel Art is a computer version of Paint by Numbers, in a pixelated version. Each pixel has a number that is filled in with its corresponding color/number from the palette on the right side. You simply left-click to fill in all the numbers with the correct color, you can also hold the mouse button and swipe through large groupings of numbers. The auto-fill feature will fill in large groups of pixels when you double-click on a cluster of numbers, but that feature has to recharge after each use. (a sound alerts you when the auto-fill feature is available each time)
Other than the auto-fill, there are only a couple of other features or options offered...the same original features, nothing new has been updated since the first Pixel Art game! There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging.
You can also change the color of the Highlighted cells to various shades of grey. This is the area that Pixel Art games fail miserably. With most games, the current chosen number/color is highlighted with a shade that sticks out in a crowd so you can easily identify where the available cells are located, even without a map location feature. For some odd reason, several numbers/colors are shaded at the same time in the same area making it impossible to easily spot the numbered cells you are working on. This has never made sense to me, for example, if you click on the number 10 from the color palette, all cells with the number 10 will highlight in grey but so will other numbers like number 21, and number 18 so you'll have to search for number 10 cells jumbled in with several other grey-highlighted cells. It's a frustrating feature that defeats the purpose of a Zen painting game!??

Up until level 15, I had nothing but good things to say about these games. Then they started going down hill with each subsequent edition.
On level 15, there were many images that catered to a very young audience, including an exact replica of the same piggy bank used on three different levels.
On level 16, there were several (and I mean a lot) of images of food, specifically desserts, such as cakes and ice cream. There were also several baskets of various fruits/flowers.
Also, several of the images did not have nearly enough pixels and were very blurry. In fact, there was one where I have yet to decide what it is. There was also a basket of something, which if it didn't have a handle, I would not have recognized it as a basket. All in all, I would only consider about half of the 80 images in this #16 as worthy of being in a game this far out in the series. I expect each game to get better, not go backwards.
Now, on to #17. In the past, I have rated these games prior to opening the subsequent levels, which was a mistake. This time I purchased the game and viewed the other levels prior to submitting this review.
Again, another step backwards. 34 of the 80 images are a format that caters to a young audience. They are simplistic and have a lot of black outlines. Also, most of the image is comprised of large sections of the same color pixel, which does not present much of a challenge.
I am (was) a fan of this series, because it was more of a challenge than the Paint by Number series, as they did not tell you exactly where each number was and made the user employ some strategy and thought into completing each image.
Now they have gone beyond the simplicity of the Paint by Number series and have made the images way to simple for an adult who is looking for a little challenge to complete the images.
Also, I expected that the images would become more realistic as the series progressed. Instead, they have gone backwards. There were many more realistic images in earlier games than in these most recent ones.
Unless I can trust reviews when a new version is released on Big Fish, stating that there is a lot of improvement over these latest games, I will not be purchasing another of this series. Show less
I don't recommend this game.
