For those of you who "love the bright colors and realism" of the various Paint By Numbers games, you are probably never going to be a fan of Pixel Art. For those of you who "love the bright colors and realism" of the various Paint By Numbers games, you are probably never going to be a fan of Pixel Art. Pixel art is comprised of squares, each of the same size, no different sized pixels or curved shapes. Unless there are tens of thousands of pixels, the images are not going to appear as realistic as a picture that is broken down into different sizes and shapes.

I completed the first level of the trial of one of the recent Paint By Number games with 5 minutes to spare. I did that without ever lifting my finger off the mouse and just sweeping around the images until they were complete. That would be extremely difficult to achieve with Pixel Art.

At this point, I don't think delivering a dissertation reviewing each of the Pixel Art Games is necessary. There isn't much new with each game except for the images. I just find them more challenging and fun to complete that the Paint By Number games that tell you every move to make and practically play the game for you.

If you didn't like any of the the first 18 games, you are probably not going to enjoy this one either. Show less

This game isn't for everyone,I get that. But I love this game and hope they keep making more. It is so relaxing for me,and that's just what I want after a long,hard day. For me,out of all the art type games,this is more challenging and more like painting to me. As I said before,I wish they would make harder scenery ones more and more colorful,for sure. I'm one in the group that still enjoys this game. I buy them immediately they arrive. I'm glad they did away with all the old style people pictures which were dull dark and boring. Some of the pictures are juvenile but I find them refreshing after completing a lengthy picture. My main wish would be for more bright colors. However, this will not stop me buying them. I was happy to see another version of Pixel Art. Regardless of what other reviewers might say, I find them relaxing after a stressful day. However, I was distinctly unhappy when I started playing the demo. The color of the "unpainted" squares was darker than almost all the previous versions. That made it difficult to tell the difference between which color to use on even the simple pictures (like the first 3 demo pictures). Doing the more intricate ones, like the 4th & 7th pictures (landscape & parrots) was extremely annoying with how dark the squares were. Some of the squares even look like they are already colored in with Black, but it turns out they aren't colored. Adjusting the background didn't help. In each new Pixel Art, the squares seem to have been getting darker. At this rate, if Pixel Art 20 comes out, if all the squares were dark gray/black I wouldn't be surprised. Also they are still using the same old background soundtrack. It can't be that difficult to find/use different soundtracks. Show less

Does that make sense to anyone? If everyone just talks about a product they love and no one ever writes a review pointing out flaws or warns others what to expect when they come across products (or games) with things that are bad, or a waste of time and money, it seems to me there would be a whole lot of people disappointed with a whole lot of products.

Since they also stated I shouldn't write an essay, I may as well not explain what the game has or doesn't have that prompted my one-star review, right?

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT ...AGAIN & AGAIN. YOU WOULD THINK THAT EACH NEW GAME SHOULD BE BETTER THAN THE ONE BEFORE. ISN,T THAT SUPPOSED TO BE PROGRESS ???? I keep checking the demoes, hoping to find something positive in this long running series. But, alas, today the same issues still exist. I keep checking the demoes, hoping to find something positive in this long running series. But, alas, today the same issues still exist. The devs seem so unconcerned or they just don't read our reviews. Either way it is very sad, especially since this is such a popular genre and competition is closing in! I've moved on to the new games with nice clear images, good variety, gorgeous colors, great fun features.

The pictures are very unappealing, colors are bland, poor quality in the finished piece because it is so blurry. The dark grey shading for the numbered cells hinders more than helps. The images are mostly so full of pixels to fill in that it is impossible to make it out of the first level to see what lies ahead. However, for me, the first level is always a good indicator of what to expect. The subject matter is usually quite limited and there are a lot of juvenile or boring objects to paint. In the beginning it was such a new idea and it was fun, but it has grown stale and boring.

Many fans are very happy with Pixel Art and many are not. We all have different tastes. It is a pity that a reviewer feels that negative opinions should be silenced and becomes rude about it. As far as Pennmom's "essay" as referred to by that person, a simple solution would be not to read it. There is no need for unkind comments toward a fellow gamer!

Pixel Art is a fine game for those who appreciate the extensive time it takes to complete an image. More colors were added to the palette along the way which did help to add shading and depth to the pics, eliminating the "flat" look. Plus the images of scenery have become more complex. The few features available are helpful and the game is relaxing and perfect, if all you want to do is just paint something to fill in some free time. Try the demo to see if Pixel Art is right for you! Show less
