The demo was so full of good content for a change. Great storyline that started out with a murder and a detective with partial memory loss. I loved every bit of gathering evidence, and for once I did not mind the gadget in this game. It was a forensic kit and did not spoil my fun. Arthur, our detective, is trying to piece together his memory and avoid the cops, being number one suspect in a string of killings. Seems like someone is setting him up for a big fall.
The graphics are very good, the voice-overs are excellent, in my opinion. I had no problems with darkness in any of the scenes and the game ran with no problems, no irritating black screen between scenes. However, I thought the collectibles were difficult to spot because they were quite small and of faint color. I finally decided not to look for them.
The HOPs were absolutely superb and the puzzles were great. Some were unique to me and I was stumped on a few of the things, which almost had me reaching for a hint. LOTS of interactivity. These HOPs required a little detective work which added to the fun. I loved collecting all the bits and pieces of evidence, bringing the story together in a sensible way, getting closer to the real killer and how Arthur became part of the whole thing. This didn't feel like a silly little game with silly little tasks, etc that we get so many of lately. All the tasks had a purpose, bringing us closer to The Executioner and saving Arthur.
Crime/mystery games are in very short supply at Big Fish. This is an excellent example of a terrific whodunit and we need more of them. They are very well suited to adult and senior gamers who, like me, are sick of witches & demons and terribly bored with all the fantasy games with a lame storyline.
My opinions of this Ghost Files game are based just on the demo, but I am betting the entire game is a winner. I will eagerly await the SE version, since I don.t feel the CE has much to offer.
God Bless.... Show less

If you are looking for an action-packed great whodunit mystery game with no glaring red evil eyes, then this second game in the Ghost Files series is the one you don’t want to miss. From the very first scene this game takes off on a race to find a killer, dubbed the Executioner, before you (Arthur Christie) are arrested and convicted of crimes you didn’t commit. Memory of a Crime is a game that is sure to keep you involved and playing for hours.
Although I didn’t care as much for the first Ghost Files game, this one seems much better. IMHO, the one downfall in the game (at least for me) is that some of the HOPS rely on barely identifiable silhouettes rather than providing a list or better depictions of the items to be found. Some of those scenes were difficult to complete since I couldn’t figure out what the silhouettes represented. That being said, the HOPS are absolutely genius and very creative. Thankfully, there is more of a balance between the puzzles and the HOPS. The puzzles are well-crafted and fit into the storyline without seeming to be inserted into the game as time fillers. Congratulations to Brave Giant for thinking outside the cookie-cutter box and bringing something interesting to the genre with this game.
Help Private Detective Arthur Christie regain bits of his memory as he races to save his reputation and stop the real Executioner before it is too late. The game takes off quickly and keeps going and at times had me on the edge of my seat as I wanted Arthur to evade imminent danger and solve the crime. Memory of a crime is simply a game that you don’t want to miss. As always, please try the demo to see if this is a game that you will enjoy. Happy gaming! Show less

REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS
I loved this game and played it from beginning to end without stopping. This is what a true adventure is all about. You play a hardened private detective called Arthur Christie. There is:
* Voiceovers (with dialogue)
* Casual, Advanced, Expert and Custom modes;
* Interactive map;
* Diary;
* 24 Achievements;
* Find 16 caps,15 floppy discs and 31 pipes (main game only);
* 8 replayable HOPs and 8 replayable mini-games.
The graphics are terrific - everywhere is well defined, has plenty of colour and items you need are easy to see. The music is orchestral and nice to listen to.
Throughout the main game you will need to find in each scene either a cap or a floppy disc. You will also need to find a smoking pipe which morphs. I made sure I found these first because I don't think you have the option of doing these later in the Extras. Find them all and you get an achievement. The caps/floppy discs are easy to spot, however the pipes are a bit more challenging.
The hidden object games are highly interactive straightforward, silhouette and find 12 skulls, screws, money, etc. There are even morphing objects in them as well. These are fun to do and each one takes about 3-5 minutes. However, if you do get stuck finding that ever elusive item, then you can play Shuffle instead.
There are a good variety of mini-games to play - ranging from easy to medium. I did them all without any problem or frustration. If you do them all without skipping, then you get an achievement.
All up the game and bonus took me about 5 hours, so good value for money. The bonus is a preclude to the main game, so well worth playing.
Overall, a terrific who dunnit adventure. In all honesty, once I found out why the Executioner was killing off these people, I could understand why. Would I have done the same if I had been in that predicament? Maybe. You decide too.
Definitely comes recommended. Thank you Boris and the team for another fabulous game and I look forward to many more. Show less

Don't usually submit reviews, but this one really had me in all areas. I am a fan of the mystery genre stories and this one is great. The artwork and visuals are beautiful. The puzzles and HOP's are nicely dispersed throughout. It doesn't detract from the story, doesn't bog you down with too many run here, run there's. The map, always a good and helpful feature is clear to understand.

the forensic kit is used often and this developer has included great instructions for the tests. For me, the directions for puzzles must be precise or I find myself just skipping. All this was done so well in this game.
Haven't played the bonus game yet, but I know it too will still have the same quality and fun factor I enjoyed throughout this whole game. Go "find" out for yourself! Show less

Flow of the story keeps you unsure of the real culprit, some twists and turns and a few side steps but great story! Some really challenging puzzles had to skip a few cause I was frustrated by the challenge. HOPA's were really interesting and not easy or simple. I didn't get all the morphing and collectibles but that's ok, it's a game to be replayed a few times. A great story is what makes a great game! And it had every element that makes for a great playing experience. A bit short but it was purchased on the weekend sale so I'm good with that. that is all. Show less

HO fans, this is your treat! We've been given a lot of puzzle-heavy games in the last few cycles but this one makes up for it. HO fans, this is your treat! We've been given a lot of puzzle-heavy games in the last few cycles but this one makes up for it. But be warned - this is the next step up in that niche and things are not always as easy as they used to be. First, we have a Chandler-like tough detective mystery that is very well written and paced, a hero who might not be quite as clean as he seems, and a mid-80's environment that is true to the age. Small cast, not a single member of it above suspicion. Well, OK, maybe the old lady...or maybe not.
Pros: the plot, for one. Nicely written, great voice acting, and a set of reveals that is carefully placed so as to maintain the plot through the puzzles. This one doesn't come to a thundering halt while the player is trying to figure out how to open the zipper (and yes, there is a zipper - I think it's a requirement). So, is your partner dirty or is it the femme fatale, or is it even yourself? We don't know...but I even think I like the cop I just punched out. HO heavy as noted and these are really good. Most objects need a little push to find and some morph under your eyes. Puzzles on the easy side but complicated enough to be interesting. Excellent graphics, plenty of smooth game play. Atmospheric music. Very nice production values. A very well balanced gaming experience.
Cons: I'm coming up blank here.
Overall, a wonderful tough deteckatiff mystery in a gritty Chandlerian environment and with suspects galore. More of this, please! Show less
