I love Egyptian-themed games and although I'm not crazy about Chain type Match 3 games, this one piqued my interest with its unusual features and of course, the Egyptian characters and storyline of creating a Tomb worthy of the Pharaoh on his journey to the afterworld. I chose to play in the Medium Timed Difficulty and it was all I could do to pass a level with 2-3 seconds remaining IF that because I was trying to make the longest-chain matches possible, but as soon as I changed my strategy to just make key matches of 3-5 tiles over just the sand-covered tiles, I found that I had 2-3 minutes remaining versus seconds...and then it became really fun to play!

You can play in a Relaxed Untimed Mode, a Medium Timed Mode, or a Hard Mode of Difficulty and the goal is to "Break the Sand Tiles" to uncover hidden ancient artifacts. The artifacts to discover are shown at the top-right of the screen and include an Ankh, the Symbol of Immortality, a Scarab, and a Sphinx. There is also an Emerald that must be dropped to the bottom of the board by making matches under them.

OBSTACLES
*Sand Tiles: requires two matches to destroy.
*Wood Tiles: requires one match to destroy.
*Sand Stone: requires two matches to destroy.
*Jewel Sand Stone: requires three matches to destroy.
*Iron Protected Sand Stone: requires four matches to destroy.
*Iron Tile: can only be destroyed by pickaxe or bomb booster.
*Sun Tile: adjacent match activates the blast to destroy all sun tiles.
*Rolling Rock: can't be destroyed, drop to the bottom of the board.

POWER-UPS
*Gold Scarab: small explosion to adjacent tiles.
*Red Scarab: large explosion to adjacent tiles.
*Sun Glyph: massive explosion destroys all sun tiles.
*Power of Pharaoh: picks random tokens to remove.
*The Eye of Ra: blasts tiles in the direction of the red arrows.

INTERFACE BOOSTERS
(recharge by collecting color-specific tokens)
*Pickaxe: GREEN TOKENS-removes a single tile of your choice
*Bomb: RED TOKENS-explodes to destroy a 7 tile radius.
*Swap: YELLOW TOKENS-allows you to swap 2 token positions.
*Shuffle: PURPLE TOKENS-allows you to reshuffle all non-special tokens on the board.

Once you have collected enough resources, you will decorate the Pharaoh's Tomb to prepare it for his journey to the afterworld. The decorations begin at the entrance of the tomb starting with beautifully painted gold pillars and bas-relief entranceway decorations as you make your way through the tomb.

There are 3 different Mini-Game variations, all of which I loved! A Spot the Difference puzzle, a Jigsaw Puzzle, and a Collapse puzzle where you click on groups of colored blocks to remove them.

I am always drawn to anything that has an Egyptian theme. This is a fun M3. Chain matching isn't my favorite, but it works in this game. I like uncovering the "hidden" Egyptian artifacts. I don't normally care for "spot the difference" games, but I liked these. The only drawback to me is that you don't have a choice of decorations for the pharaoh's tomb. You use the one they give you when you earn it; but that's a small thing and certainly not a deterrent to purchasing the game since I just like decorating stuff by earning points or stars, etc. We've had two really good M3 games lately and they are totally different from one another. This game doesn't have the bells and whistles of many of the 'cartoony' games these days have, it is a straight chain style M3 that runs smoothly, has lots of interesting features within the screen play, and every few levels a 'skipable' mini game (but they are good too).

There are three modes, relax, timed and expert. I chose the timed and found the challenge to be just right. I did finish the early levels with a little time..but not much.

Gameplay mainly consists of dropping things from the board, and uncovering artifacts set as goals at the level start. Some require several matches over them to get them to appear even though you may be able to see them. (all this is explained in a very good help tutorial) There are bonuses, pick axe (one tile) several bomb ones and a shuffle. You charge these by joining the certain colour tile that they match. So to charge the pickaxe you collect green, the bomb the red etc. (and they may be away from the area you are clearing to get the artifacts) so there are choices to be made.

All in all its a smooth as silk to play, just loving that it moves along without waiting for whizz bang explosions, and there is also another bonus feature 'The Pharaoh's Tomb' to decorate with the loot you earn from playing the levels. Its just a great little game. Enjoy. Show less

The Egyptian theme caught my attention, even though I usually avoid chain Match 3s. This one turned out to be very entertaining and I enjoyed the challenge. I loved the variety of mini-games, spot-the-difference being my fave. Decorating the Pharoah's tomb is fun, which you can do once you have collected enough resources. The power-ups and obstacle tiles were abundant, a gem has to go to the bottom of board which happens by matching tiles underneath them. Gather colored tokens which you will need to recharge the boosters.

I was never bored during the demo and the game ran problem free. It is a nice addition to my collection, I think. This is only my second Match 3 purchase in quite a while as there haven't been many good ones lately. Hopefully we will see much needed improvements in this popular genre. Show less

Making bigger matches offers no advantage. Unlike the Hellas games, for instance, you'll not receive extras for making long matches, it just eats up your time.

I finished the game (105 levels) and had no trouble building all the items for the tomb. Other than that, the game has no story.

Follow penmom's strategy advice and you'll have no trouble completing the game. Show less

You might find this fine for just passing time. This is one of the kind where you use the cursor to connect as many matching tiles as you can. They call it "linking" style. You have to uncover treasures in the sand. They are easy to find and uncover and they are always the same, round after round. There is a variety of puzzles every few rounds but they are also quite easy. This is my favorite genre so I look for something different and interesting and this wasn't it. You pretty much have to be a die hard match 3 player for this one I think. I don't usually like chain matches but it's a change.
You have to be fast on 'normal'. The time runs out quick. Maybe it's just me but you may just make it. I think this one will get tedius after awhile. I am more on the 'not getting it' side.
I will hang on to it in my Manager to see what comes up next.

I don't recommend this game.

Not with this one ,I sometimes joined 15 or so tiles and nothing. If you join certain tiles you can get a quicker bonus but I so miss the explosions you usually get at the end of a large link. Bit of a damp squib for me.

The tiles I found very boring,I usually like the Egyptian theme but found this so dull. Graphics could have been better.

I tried all 3 difficulty levels but for me the time went way too fast. Maybe I am slowing up? You can alternate between modes without having to start a new game..
As said earlier I have played better games from this Dev and for me this is a no go..
Just my opinion, try the demo ,it may well be ok for you? Show less

It's rare a really good match 3 appears. (Just my opinion.) I thought this would be one of the good ones. The tiles look as if they've spent too much time in the Egyptian sun, & have faded. It certainly didn't make think about Egypt, which, for the most part, is a bright, colourful place. The tiles are also boring. After just a few levels in the demo, the game became tedious, & a drag.
