Legendary Tales Stolen Life is, I hope, the first game in a new series one of my favorite developers – Five – BN Games. Stolen Life is an incredible game and is most likely one of the best this year. I love this game that makes me remember what HOPA games used to be like. This developer’s games are few and far between and that is because each new game they release is top quality. If you can pick up the CE version of this game you will see that it is full of extras that other developers no longer take the time to add to their CEs. No matter which version of the game you purchase, you will quickly see that this is an excellent game and that will take you back to the days when HOPA games had substance. There is very little hand-holding in this game so you will need to think about what you need to do to move forward.

I’m not going to take the time to write a lengthy review. There are other reviewers who will provide all the details of the game if you want that information. I think gaming is more fun, at least for me, when I don’t know all the details before I begin playing.

By now most of you who read my reviews know that I am not a fan of having too many puzzles in HOPA games BUT, wait for it . . . I love the puzzles in Stolen Life. Most of the puzzles are the type I enjoy playing because I need to use my brain rather than those where I must duke it out with an opponent or avoid obstacles on a race downstream. The hidden object scenes are great because they are so interactive. I hate having to use the hint button while searching for objects in a HO scene but in Stolen Life I had to use it frequently because I was stuck and couldn’t figure out where to find some of the objects. The scenes are creative and took a long time to complete, at least for me, because they are complex with some very well-hidden places to search. It is terrific to play a HOS when I get to use my brain and not only my mouse.

When I say that this is probably one of the best HOPA games I have played all year, I mean it. Legendary Tales Stolen Life has so much to offer, not only with all of the extras included in the game, but because of the length of the game that took me a couple of days to complete. When a game is this good, I like to savor it and enjoy every little detail of the graphics, the puzzles, the HOS, and the extras. A Stolen Life is just that sort of game where it is worth taking the time to enjoy all of the details the developer has put in to the game.

As you have probably guessed by now the CE Version of the game was an instant purchase for me. I hit that buy button as soon as the game finished installing – no need to wait because I know the quality of games by this developer. Even if you purchase the standard version of the game, you will quickly find that Legendary Tales Stolen Life is something special. Happy gaming! Show less

I liked the fact that the HOGs and clues were more challenging than the usual ones, just not enough of them. And I really liked that all the HOGs required using objects as you found them. Fun game!

Werewolf stories don't come along very often anymore. The storyline sounded interesting, so I was anxious to check out this new Five-BN adventure.

The locations were dressed in beautiful color and the scenes were full of interesting detail and crystal clear, as always, with Five-BN's excellent graphics. The game moved along at a nice pace and the tasks were not a burden, the features were super, I didn't need to use the map, but it provided speed and info that lessens the dreaded back and forth that sometimes bogs me down.

There's a good amount of collectibles for CE fans. But I think the game itself will not suffer without them, if you select the SE. It's nice that we have choices!

The werewolf theme greatly appeals to me but I didn't buy Stolen Life only because, for me, 50+ mini-games is just too many! I am a big HOPA fan and I enjoy puzzles in moderation. But all the puzzle fans will have a blast for sure with this game. The entire demo was fun, the excellent HOPs and puzzles were challenging, but not overly so.

No doubt about it, Five-BN delivers quality entertainment every time! Hope to see more intriguing Legendary Tales adventures with that special fantasy touch that this dev does so well. Try the demo for a fun 90 minutes. Show less

One of the best games I've ever played. It's what we called the perfect game. Everything is enchanting, the scenes,story lines, characters, puzzles, conversation, sounds effects. I was lucky to buy with coupons but I wouldn't hesitate to buy with full price. Thank you Big Fish Games for such an exquisite game. I highly recommended.

So much to do. 5-BN are not easy games. I can not play them with out the map-jump feature. The graphic are so detailed, it is like wandering about exploring new and different lands. And wander you will.

witches are stealing people and turning their souls into fruit to survive longer. you are looking for your bother who they took. you need the help of the people that live there to figure this all out. it is set up for another one at the end. i played on the easiest level. good hint system that uses the map a good bit.

Lucia's brother Ulf has always taken care of her since their parents passed away, but now her world has been turned upsidedown. Lucia has always had her big brother to take care of her, but today, she must embark on a dangerous journey through enchanted forests, bewitched caves, and treacherous towns. Lucia must gather her inner strength to overcome the sorcery and reverse the ritual that has stolen her brother's life!

Morphing Objects/Collectibles (CE version only)
No other developer beats the CE bling the Five-BN games offers, they are always well-worth the extra price! Not only are there several Collectible's (53 total) there are several different types, Medallions, Flowers, Figurines, Tarot Cards, and Goblets. When you complete a category, you will earn an achievement and unlock a new Puzzle in the CE Extra's Section.

There are also 10 Historical Manuscripts and when that collection is complete, you will earn an achievement and unlock an extra Mini-Game with several Levels!
We're not done yet, folks! There are 30 Morphing Objects, one in each scene, and when the collection is complete you will earn an achievement as well a unlock a new Bonus Game in the CE Extras too! No other developer gives us this much CE bling!

Hidden Object Scenes:
There are only 15 Hidden Object Scenes +3 in the CE Bonus Chapter, but don't let that deter you because these are some of the most interactive and lengthy, whole-room scene HO's you'll ever see, unless of course, you play other games by this developer. There are basically 4 different variations, Progressive-Interactive List, Progressive-Interactive Silhouetted Shapes, Progressive-Interactive Multiples, and Progressive-Finding & Replacing. The interactions are multi-layered and do require a lot of thought processes because the interactions are not your typical cookie-cutter interactions. You will always be required to figure out how to open boxes, find hidden caches, etc. and everything requires multiple tasks or progressions. Did I mention how talented this team is? My only suggestion to them would be to offer an alternative game for players who may find these too frustrating, or perhaps a skip button feature?

Mini-Games:
Put on your thinking caps to solve 50 Mini-Games +8 in the CE Bonus Chapter. These aren't impossible puzzles, but they will require a little bit of thought and a little bit of patience. These aren't the kind of games that can be solved in one or two moves, and certainly not by luck of the draw. Did I mention how incredibly talented this team is? Even the Hidden Object Scenes are more like puzzles AND they have mini-games within them! My only complaint is that they tend to have horribly confusing instructions simply because of the way they try to draw out the explanation, such as, "in order to achieve the goal a parameter needs to be established around the elements by... doesn't make sense, it's drawn out and complicated...get to the point Five-BN lol

Bonus Chapter: (CE version only)
Everything happens for a reason and everything is interconnected as you play as the young orphan boy Lucia helped in the main game and learn why he really got himself in such a bind. This is a lengthy chapter spanning over 13 scene locations with 8 Mini-Games and 3 more of those maddening Progressive-Interactive Hidden Object Scenes. Although there are no more Morphing Objects or Historical Manuscripts remaining, a brand new Collectible becomes available, so you'll search for 13 Goblets, and of course, it will unlock another Bonus Game in the CE extra's Menu as well as award you with a new Achievement!

10 amazing Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Music Soundtracks, 14 Video Cutscenes, 14 Replayable Mini-Games, 5 Puzzles +Bonus Puzzles (you must complete Each of the Collections Categories to unlock a new Bonus Puzzle for each collection completed!) 53 Collectibles (8 Medallions-7 Flowers-8 Figurines-7 Tarot Cards-13 Goblets (in the Bonus Chapter) 10 Magical Creatures Manuscripts (Completing the Manuscripts Collections will unlock an extra Mini-Game with many levels in the extra's menu) 30 Morphing Objects (Completing the Morphing Objects Collections will unlock a Bonus Game) 4 very long Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide. I, too, am in the Captain’s cabin and cannot finish because of said glitch that has been posted by others. The game was great until this occurred. Other than contacting the developer myself about the glitch, there’s no point in saying anything else as there is no technical forum here anymore and the only recourse BFG now provides is a replacement game code.

I don't recommend this game.
