500 puzzles is quite a lot in any game, I don't know what others are complaining about. Not all catch my eye, true enough, but there are some BEAUTIFUL puzzles in here, enough of them to have me buy this.

I like the way it handles. LOVE the music. You can change the number of pieces and choose to rotate the pieces or not. For me nothing else is important and I see no reason to detract from 5 ...Show more

I like the way it handles. LOVE the music. You can change the number of pieces and choose to rotate the pieces or not. For me nothing else is important and I see no reason to detract from 5 stars over things that don't matter to me.

I could also scroll through the pages back and forth no problem. It did not get stuck for me after page 5 as someone else experienced. Best bet is to try for yourself and see if the game appeals to you personally. Show less

I keep checking the demoes and still nothing to justify purchasing anything from this dev. I'm always hopeful that I can place a positive review but, again, looks like today is not the day. I think it's definitely time to change the title to what it really is! 500 Jigsaw. Right there, IMO, shows just how lazy the dev is, when this change should've been made years ago.

There are 500 categorized, unappealing puzzles. Just another unimpressive collection to add to the pile from this developer. Whoever the photographers are, they do not have an eye for beauty and the results are a poor example of all the possibilities out there for beautiful, interesting pictures. Here we see the usual food, buildings, poorly lighted landscapes, unprofessional "models", staged scenes, etc. Of the very few animal shots, the only interesting one, to me, was that of an iguana's eye. How pathetic is that?

There are the same minimal features, same washed-out background colors, same modification options. Sorting still creates a tedious job of picking through the layers to find a useable piece. Unless you just enjoy the extra challenge of all the scattered pieces, the border feature makes getting started much easier. There are various puzzle sizes, but the more pieces you choose, the smaller they are. They can be so small that assembly becomes more of a chore than pleasure. For my eyes it is a strain and the magnifier is definitely necessary.

We have several extremely fine jigsaw devs here at BFG. The images, features, options are superb. Our latest offering is at the top of the tops. I don't understand why 1001 Jigsaw prefers to remain on the bottom of the barrel. Doesn't make sense that it could be such a profitable decision. As for me, I'm supporting the devs who are not lazy, who embrace change and care about quality and customer satisfaction.

You might be very pleased with 1001 Jigsaw Detective. Jigsaws are fun, this collection will likely appeal to those who are just looking for some basic puzzles to relax with. I gave the demo a gallant try but, once more, came away disappointed. Hopefully, it will be a good purchase for you. Show less

There are Achievement Trophies to earn and a Top Scores leaderboard. There are no options to access any of those features to find out what achievements you are striving to achieve. You can save your puzzle's progress but you can't save the completed puzzle image nor can you download the image as a screensaver or wallpaper, you can't even admire the completed image because they disappear immediately.

There is a box to store extra pieces, but there are no options to categorize, label, or sort these stored pieces, nor is there an option to fetch or retrieve certain pieces because you can't sort and label these stored pieces. The current sort option simply scrambles the pieces supposedly to the correct area, such as the top, bottom, right, or left side, which seems like cheating to me? Most of the time there seems to be no rhyme or reason for how or why the pieces are sorted the way they are, it's like a roll of the dice??

There is an option to post a Pictured Image of the puzzle you are working on which also allows you to choose three different sizes of x1, x2, or x3. You can also opt to Ghost the Image on the Background (the puzzle is assembled on top of the ghosted image) It doesn't, however, give you the option to choose the Opaqueness of the Ghosted Image to make the image more or less visible, depending on how difficult you want the puzzle assembly to be. The "ghosted image isn't "ghosted" it's simply a large, stationary picture.

There is an available Magnifying Glass to enlarge sections, as well as a Hint feature in case you get stumped. You can easily become "stumped" because the puzzle connection tabs connecting two pieces together, never appear as an actual match (the tab on puzzle piece A looks nothing like the opening in puzzle piece B) most of the time the colors don't even appear to match up because they are using cheap software. You can also choose the Resolution, opt for a single Custom Cursor (a tiny cursor at that!) or change the color of the background to a pastel shade of Pink, Green, Blue, or Gray. Even though they are pastels, these basic color options tend to be too dark with most of the puzzles, so being able to adjust the intensity of the background colors at the very least, makes sense, doesn't it?

Any Puzzle can be modified with Size options, the Shape of the puzzle pieces, and whether or not you want the pieces to Rotate, but even then, it's not optimized to allow you to assemble a puzzle much bigger than 300 pieces. A 300 Piece physical Puzzle purchased off the shelf would be labeled for ages +5 five years old and up! There's an old jigsaw meme that says "I just completed a puzzle in one week and the box says 2-5 years"...great motto for Jigsaws by this developer, eh?

Just put this "Legend of the Mysteriously Missing Detective Puzzles" in the rearview mirror and drive on over to The Woods Forum where I guarantee you will have more fun! thewoodsforum.boards.net Show less

I agree with everything the others are saying but and maybe its me,one thing that really annoys me about these games which spoils my enjoyment if there ever is any, is that every time you place a piece, the screen flashes.
Maybe those with better eyesight do not mind that but for me I just do not see the point in having this flashing and I end up with sore eyes.

A thousand times no...you've offered jigsaw puzzles by some great puzzlemakers...this is definitley not one of them...do not like the gameplay at all or the assortment of pictures to work on...

I don't recommend this game.
