From the team who bought us the wonderful Claws and Feathers games comes this wonderful match 3 game although it is actually a match 2 despite being referred to as match 3.

The earlier games were match 3 and I found that more of a challenge, having said that this is also very challenging.

There are 3 level modes easy , normal and hard.

The easy level gives you 9 lives and less opponents
Normal , 5 lives and more opponents and
hard gives you 3 lives and even more opponents.

The great thing about this is you can change the levels at any time you want without having to start a new game and once you have played that level you can return to it and improve lives lost at any time.

So your ninja cat is chopping up various veg, jellies, burgers etc and this does become really challenging the further in to the game you get and every now and then along comes a boss to deal with.

If you have played Claws and Feathers before you should be used to how this game works , if not it may take a bit of time to get in to the swing of things.

For me this is a winner and nice to have a different match 3 (2). there is no time limit or limited moves but the different life modes can make it more challenging if you so wish.

It is not going to suit everyone but for me it is a winner. Show less

Finally, another fun and cute new game from the creators of Claws & Feathers, these 3 games being some of my all-time favorites. This is a fun game. It is not a match 3 game. It is a puzzler. Vegetables have come alive and are trying to take over. Catana is here to save the day.
Strategy is needed to help you meet your goal because the veggies will multiply. The levels get harder and there is a good "tutorial" level. There are power ups; use them wisely. The storyline is fun as well. I am looking forward to playing this ...Show more

I wasn't sure if it was a Match-3 game (mostly, because I hate those), but it's more of a thinking person's smash-and-burn. Yes, I'm playing the Casual mode, so I have extra lives per level, and it requires looking at the board and strategizing moves needed to win the level.

I enjoy playing games through this developer I have played similar games in the past where things pop up randomly but this was great to play

This game is kind of a hybrid between Claws & Feathers (one of my favorite games) and Fruit Ninja. Basically, you move Catana, the ninja cat in training, by dragging a line of blocks. You can move up to 9 blocks at a time and if plotted strategically, you can take out several fruits along that path. This game is kind of a hybrid between Claws & Feathers (one of my favorite games) and Fruit Ninja. Basically, you move Catana, the ninja cat in training, by dragging a line of blocks. You can move up to 9 blocks at a time and if plotted strategically, you can take out several fruits along that path. Just like in Claws & Feathers, spores are created on the blocks that will turn into adults on the next turn but they can be destroyed as spores if you include those blocks on your plotted move.

Here's where the game gets interesting, some of the fruit (and eventually hamburgers, etc) get angry so you have to avoid them for one or two moves or they will explode and take one of your lives which also prevents you from getting a Red Heart versus a Black Heart score!

You can play in an Easy mode which gives you 9 Lives and fewer enemies, a Normal Mode with 5 Lives and a moderate amount of enemies, or a Hard Mode which only gives you 3 Lives and has hoards of enemies. You can also choose to select the Tactical option which allows you to select the blocks one at a time and then click GO to move Catana, or the Fast option which allows you to drag the desired path and Catana automatically moves once you release the mouse button.

As you progress, obstacles are added such as Armored Fruit that requires a double whammy to destroy them. Crates must be destroyed by landing on them, and when you encounter the Mutant Snapdragon Boss, it takes several landings on the Snapdragon to destroy him...be careful and wait for the snapdragon to sway back and forth to make sure the fruits guarding him aren't angry because sometimes they are hard to see until the plant sways to the side!

Eventually, you will earn Bonus Powerups such as Tea Potions that will Calm all of the angry fruits or the Circle of Blades which will destroy everything within a 9 tile radius to get you out of a tight squeeze.

There are 110 Levels and 10 Achievements to earn so I am looking forward to slashing a bunch of fruit! Come join the fun at my new forum at thewoodsforum.boards.net Show less

So, since I know it IS possible, I'm going to go ahead and purchase the game since it's a bit out of the ordinary compared to many other game offerings here. I play in easy mode because I'm all about relaxation in gameplay. I know as I go through this game I will hit moments of complete frustration; but as long as I don't have to fight time limits or limited moves, I can hang in there and keep trying. I also have Claws & Feathers although I haven't played it for a very long time. I remember getting totally frustrated with it so I set it on the back burner and haven't gone back to revisit it again. Catana is a game I will enjoy, but I don't think I'll end up playing it for long periods of time - more like one or two levels at a time and then go back to other games which are mostly TMs and M3s. But, the fun outweighs the frustration. I love the tiles, the colors and graphics and had to buy after the demo.

Catana is very challenging and strategy plays a big part in your ability to progress. Thankfully there are no time limits. There are 3 play modes, each one giving you a different number of lives. I've been trying them all but find that Easy Mode works best for me. You can replay the levels to restore the lives that were lost so that leaves me feeling less flustered.

The obstacles are fun but also kind of hard for me to defeat. The power-ups are very helpful, I especially like the Circle of Blades because it gets me out of a jam (which is unavoidable) by clearing away 9 tiles. Catana really likes chopping up those veggies but he doesn't stop there. He's after the treats as well.

The 110 levels make this a long game when you consider the challenge and time it takes to figure out your next move. This game may not appeal to everyone but once you catch on, it really is entertaining. I am so tired of all the too-easy games with the same format. Catana is refreshing. If you've played Claws and Feathers, you're off to a good start. A little patience goes a long way when learning this cute, unique game.

Definitely try the demo. If you don't like veggies, this is a fun revenge without the mess!! And it's Bonus Punch Day! Show less
