So, obviously this is a genre I enjoy. Now that I'm semi-retired, I casual game a lot. Writing is a marriage that can exhaust and you're never paid enough...unless you are, say, Dan Brown or Ann Rice. The graphics presented in this little epic are very well done and I love how the story is told as we go along. I love the clues and facts we gather as we sleuth along. Now, granted I am only about halfway through, but, WOW, to earn five stars is HARD!! The hidden objects are very well rendered, not impossible to find or frustrating. I think this is a great game- and don't be hatin' on me just because I like this- I am really enjoying this HOG- we all have our likes and dislikes and we are all entitled to that. We all agree to disagree and I think artistically and technically this game is lots of fun. No technical issues at all. So, stay healthy all and game to your heart's content! :-) Show less

I actually watched both seasons of Project Blue Book and enjoyed the show. I was hopeful that this would be a decent HOG covering UFO encounters and conspiracies associated with the government's attempts to deceive the public with the Project Blue Book investigations.
Although the characters and the cases are true to the original show, this really isn't a game where you make actual deductions to solve cases, as the BF synopsis would lead you to believe. Project Blue Book is just your typical "App" type of HO game where you are tasked with finding a handful of repetitive objects (pictured or listed items) to "Investigate" while replaying the same scene multiple times until you find the required number of "Clues" to unlock the next scene. I'm pretty sure clicking buttons & reading the backstory doesn't qualify as a "deduction" therefore, it has to be a conspiracy bwahahaha
There are no voiceovers so you'll have to do a lot of reading if you want to follow the cases. It is a slow process to get to the HO scenes because you have to click "Investigate" and wait for a "loading" page to finish loading, then you have to click on the scene that appears to begin...and wait as the timer counts down 3-2-1. Now you are tasked with finding Pictured or Listed Text Items as quickly as possible to earn the maximum amount of stars. Some scenes show the objects one at a time and you must find the item before the circle that surrounds it within 10 seconds, if you don't find it in time, a popup window will ask if you want to try again, and it simply gives you another 10 seconds to find the same item over and over,
You will earn Stars in portions (1 Star, 1/2 Star) depending on how fast you found them but there is no penalty other than the fact that you will have to repeat the scene more often to "Close" the investigation with 5 Stars. There is a Camera "Hint" system that starts out with 10 Hints which can be refilled by playing any of the Mini-games.
Mini-Games Available:
Image Swap-swap rectangular sections of a scene to reconstruct the room.
Redaction-drag "blacked out redaction lines" of varying patterns over the paragraph on a letter that needs to be redacted (shown in blue text) until all words are covered.
Match 3-simplistic swap-type of Match 3 game that doesn't allow you to make fast, consecutive matches, you have to wait for tiles to stop falling before it will allow you to make another match,
Jigsaw-drag torn fragments to reconstruct the picture.
Some of the items to find are hidden on the "fringes" on the top or bottom of the screen, some of which were barely showing such, as a bell where only the rope attached to the clapper was hanging from the top...but perhaps it was because of my 38" screen monitor?
The biggest issue I had was that some of the items took several "clicks" before being removed which is a horrible scenario in a game based upon speed! It was always the same item that had issues no matter how many times you replayed the scene. By the time I got to the Hanger scene, I was having trouble clicking on 2 objects, the clock on the wall, and the Gas Can. I replayed the scene to earn all 5 stars before moving on but once I got to the variation that required me to find 1 object at a time, it was impossible to finish because I would click on the gas can over and over but after 10 seconds it shows a popup asking if you want to "try again" (I even tried the camera hint to make sure I had the right object)
I couldn't progress past the hanger scene because of this clicking glitch so unfortunately, I have to pass on this game and reflect that in my rating of the game...too bad because I do love a good Alien Conspiracy!
There's always something interesting going on at my new forum! If you miss chatting with fellow fishies from the Big Fish Forum days then grab a thermos full of coffee, throw on your favorite jeans & t-shirt, and lace up your hiking boots...ah who are we kidding...just keep your comfy fuzzy slippers on, and come chillax with us by the fire at thewoodsforum.boards.net Show less

Prepare for an alien invasion! Return to the 1950’s, when everyone liked “Ike,” Ding Dong School and Howdy Doody were considered children’s programming and bomb shelters popped up in case some Commie dropped an atomic bomb. However, rest assured, if children were in school, no need for a bomb shelter, merely hiding under their desks would suffice as a protective measure against that mushroom cloud.
After the end of WWII, besides the Red Scare, flying saucers with aliens were seen as the next threat to U.S. national security. Thus, Project Blue Book, a secret clandestine governmental operation was founded by the military to keep track of any little green aliens plotting to attack the world in an alien invasion.
I am a huge fan of the History Channel’s Project Blue Book series. However, I am less enthusiastic about this game. I am surprised this game was endorsed by the History Channel. It falls short of what one would expect from this award-winning series. The graphics are very primitive. However, it does provide some relatively realistic scenes from that period. The game does include cartoon caricatures of the main characters from the series. However, there are no voiceovers, at least none which I found in playing the first chapter and part the second. The voices of famous actors are supposedly within this game; however, I did not hear any voiceovers at all. Perhaps they appear later in the game?
The stories and the characters are from the beginning of the series. The game follows the story of Dr. Allen Hynek, an astrophysicist from Ohio State University ,enlisted to study UFO sightings. Starting his research as a skeptic in the beginning, his view changed later in life, embracing the reality of an alien presence on this planet both in the present and in the past as well.
The player will play 3 different cases. Each case involves searching through number of scenes for clue items. Successive HOP scenes are played until all clue items are discovered from that scene. Upon locating a clue item, the player is asked to investigate it and add it to his Blue Book for further analysis. At the end of the case, the player is involved in manipulating the clue items in some way. The first case is Case 101: The Fuller Dogfight. The second case is Case 102: The Flatwoods Monster. You collect five stars per scene and those are earned by playing numerous scenes until you have earned all 5 stars.
There are no directions on how to play the game. It was through trial and error that I figured out what to do within the game. I wish there was more guidance given on how to operate the game. The game has a case, Case 100, which is completed, and I have no idea why that was included within the game. It serves no purpose but may relate to the ending of the game. Having this case added made the game seem even more confusing to me.
MECHANICS:
• Each case has numerous scenes in which you play several HOP scenes until you collect the clue items which you investigate. Scenes have between one to four clue items. The number of scenes increases as you proceed in the game. In case 101 there are 7 – in case 102 there are 9.
• Scenes alternate between lists of items, silhouette, and searches for one item at a time
• Play each scene until you are awarded 5 stars and have collected all clue items.
• Upon receipt of a clue item, you are taken to the investigation section where the item is recorded and added to your Blue Book.
• There are four (4) partitions within the menu of the game:
a. Mini-games – provide games in which to earn hints
b. Active Leads – after collecting enough clues, provides information about the case
c. Story – provides the background story for the game
d. Blue Book - collects the clue items and analyzes the items.
• The player is timed and scored. The score is based upon the time used in searching the scenes for the items times the number of items located. If a scene is not finished in the allotted time, the scene must be replayed. Hints can be used to locate items, which are earned by playing mini-games.
• The player can either play multiple HOP scenes within the same scene (most have 10 plays or more) or switch back and forth between scenes within the case.
• The player moves up in rank as they proceed in the game. Begin with Airman First Class, which is followed by Staff Sergeant.
• Hints: You can play mini-games to receive hints., usually one hint per game played. The games are:
a. Image Swap, a switch puzzle in which fragments of the scene are switched until all are placed in the proper location
b. Match-3 puzzle in which items are switched to get a score of 3500 points before the clock runs out of time.
c. Jigsaw puzzle which is also timed. Jigsaw pieces stick together if connected correctly
d. Redaction puzzle. Place 4 fragments with cutouts in them so they fit together to redact (block out) lines of text.
SAME ITEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. This is a HOP game so one would expect successive HOP scenes. However, what I disliked about the game is the repetition of items to be located, all within the same scene. Some of the items to be located are in EVERY HOP scene. Why? Why not provide a variety of items to locate? I still cannot understand why this game has the player search for the same items in up to ten or eleven searches within the same scene. However, some of the items are moved in successive searches, but still, it became monotonous searching for the same items repeatedly. Show less

There is no actual intelligence needed in playing this game.
You will match three or more objects in a scene to their pictures, then do that again and again till you open the next scene. In between times you are given the "results" of the investigation, reduced to a single paragraph - did I mention the on-screen reading that stands in for voice overs and any action/story?

Since the cases are reduced to simplistic explanations that even the Project Blue Book personnel would find lame, we get to meet the spouse of one investigator and go shopping with her, where we will investigate the store four or five times before we move on.
To stimulate some action, some of the HOGs are timed and there is a place to play mini-games.
This is not exciting, thrilling, or chilling, just movement from scene to scene with long load times in between.
Please try the demo.

Although the story line was pretty good, I found the game to be boring & repetitive. I liked the TV show, that's why I gave this game a try. I played the demo & was hoping for the time to be up, long before it was. No real investigation or really looking at things. Just click on a button & the investigation was done with very little info. Dr. Hynek character didn't even look like him.
