I have all 13 of the Modern Art series. I agree with other reviewers that some pictures and colors are a bit dull but I love it anyway. I have passed level one and like the rest of the pictures. I have all 13 of the Modern Art series. I agree with other reviewers that some pictures and colors are a bit dull but I love it anyway. I have passed level one and like the rest of the pictures. In fact it is my favorite painting game. The feature I like most is being able to change the background color. If you are looking for a lot of blue and the background is blue it's tricky. If you can change it to red for example, it's much nicer to paint. Other similar games with the pale grey background are hard to see and I always wish I could change the light grey to another color. I never get tired of Modern Art and will continue to buy without trying first. Show less

There are reviews which criticize this game and the series. I don't disagree with the points they make. BUT if you love coloring in pictures you will love this. There are lots of variety in the entire series although individual games will get in a rut of landscapes, dark still life pictures of fruit, etc. There are still beach scenes, colorful strawberry desserts, bright flowers, cute houses. There are reviews which criticize this game and the series. I don't disagree with the points they make. BUT if you love coloring in pictures you will love this. There are lots of variety in the entire series although individual games will get in a rut of landscapes, dark still life pictures of fruit, etc. There are still beach scenes, colorful strawberry desserts, bright flowers, cute houses. I especially love the bright birds on branches. Not just parrots but all sorts.

One review stated you have to complete the first eight pictures to go on to see what is available. But there's a trick to getting around that. Simply complete the last picture of the first level then an options box comes up which offers three options: go to the main menu, select level, and then a round red arrow to go to the next picture. Select the red next picture arrow and voila! there you are on the next page.

Give this game a try. Choose any of the other 12 available. I think you'll like them. Show less

i like that you can change the background in this game. makes it easier to find the spaces you need to paint. they have different themes and i like that as well.

Modern Art is my favorite of the paint by numbers. I like that the colors compliment the picture rather than have lots of colors that are not authentic to the subject. I do agree that they have made the recent pictures less ambitious and are too easy to complete. However, I do agree that the recent pictures have been less ambitious and too easy to complete. It's nice to have a bit of a challenge when playing these types of games, and it would be wonderful to see more intricate designs.

I also agree that we should be able to see the pictures being offered before deciding whether to purchase the game. It can be frustrating to buy a game only to find out that the pictures aren't to our liking.

Overall, I'm happy to hear that there will be more pictures coming, and I'm excited to see what they have in store for us. Modern Art 13 is a great game for anyone who loves paint by numbers and wants to create beautiful pieces of art. Show less

Modern Art's world wasn't so dark and bleak. It's cheerless, painted with colors that just don't appeal to me. The world I know and love is full of color and light. When everything looks like it fell into a big mud puddle it just isn't pleasant to look at.

Modern Art's world wasn't so dark and bleak. It's cheerless, painted with colors that just don't appeal to me. The world I know and love is full of color and light. When everything looks like it fell into a big mud puddle it just isn't pleasant to look at.

The images are usually of good variety but this time there was lots of fruit and desserts, the other images weren't as interesting or elaborate as in the past. I rush like crazy to get beyond the first level to see the entire collection and find many images that are disappointing. I wish that completing the first level was not a requirement. Seeing everything up front would sure save time and help with purchase decision.

The game has no special features but I love the color bar for changing the background color. You can adjust it to vary the shades which is very helpful within the images. The Hint has no recharge time, it's great if you're the impatient type like I am. The color palette offers a big array but unfortunately it features mostly various shades of black, grey, brown and grungy green. Painting the images is quick and easy, sweeping your mouse over the numbered areas eliminates any level of challenge. An elaborate image is done in mere minutes.

I own 5 Modern Art games, used to love them, they were a refreshing change when they first popped up. But I quit buying when I got tired of the dreary colors and got bored. It's really a fine game, works smoothly and is very relaxing. If you prefer easy painting and don't mind the dark colors this will be a nice purchase. If subject matter isn't too important to you, you'll be pleased with the selection in Modern Art 12. Show less

It probably doesn't matter how we feel about the game anyway because Modern Art #34 is already available elsewhere. More than likely, there have been no changes to those 21 other versions either, never are, and probably never will be!

More than likely, there have been no changes to those 21 other versions either, never are, and probably never will be!

Only 942 words to go! Speaking of pictures, why are we expected to purchase a game that only allows us to see the first 8 pictures? Of those 8 pictures, there is a butterfly, a rose, daisies, a fruit pie, a bridge, a fruit arrangement, a lighthouse in the dark, and a mystery fruit...none of which are appealing. Does anyone have a clue as to what the second picture is on the BF synopsis? Are they peaches, nectarines, or rotting oranges?

860 words remaining...Why are the colors used in these games always so ugly? Why are the sections to fill either huge or so tiny you can't find them? Why can't they offer pictures that are more intricate, using several color hues so that the pictures are more appealing...not to mention that every picture can be completed in less than one minute?

Only 796 words left! Why does the completed image disappear the second you fill in the last section...are they hoping you won't notice how unappealing the finished product is if you can't look at it? Why is the custom cursor the size of a quarter, yet you still have to swipe over an area repeatedly to get the color to fill in?

Well, bummer, it looks like these pictures are only worth 278 words!
