Please improve these games. They have potential but fall way too short! Show less

I've played quite a few Pixel Art games, and initially, they captivated me with their uniqueness and charm. When I saw the 3 screenshots above in the synopsis, I thought the developer was finally offering pixel art pictures that included the background! Turns out that the entire first chapter only has 1 image with a background, the rest were the same little pictures in the center of a grey page. I would have purchased this game if I thought that more pictures were like the ones shown but I have my suspicions that most images are small and boring.
This is probably why the developer never includes an option to look past the first level of pictures...it's bad enough that we can't choose any picture we want to color in any order but why on Earth can't we at least see what's in store for us? I love computer jigsaw games but there's no way I'd buy a game that doesn't allow me to see the pictures, not to mention that there are always going to be images that don't appeal to someone, can you imagine being forced to complete a jigsaw you don't like just so you can get to one that does?
One of my biggest complaints with Pixel Art is that it's so hard to find the current numbered cells because the grey-highlighted cells are the same color as several other numbered cells and for the life of me I can't understand why other cells are highlighted in the same shade? All this could easily be solved if they just added an option to choose your desired color for highlighted cells. They have this option in other painting games by this developer so why don't they offer it in Pixel Art?
There is no Cell Counter feature and no Hint feature either which is pretty standard in most Pixel Art games. I find the lack of simple "comfort" features to be unfathomable at this stage, especially when every other pixel game has at least the basic features!
Grab a compass and some comfy hiking boots, and head on over to The Woods Forum! Follow the well-beaten path and take a right at the fork in the road, we'll keep the campfire stoked for ya! thewoodsforum.boards.net Show less

Seems like the changes this game needs will never happen. Makes no sense that we have Number 23 and everything is still the same. Art is supposed to be beautiful, interesting, colorful, fun. Pixel Art is not.

The first level still requires completion before we can see the rest of the images. Why? Why do I want to buy something I am not allowed to see before hand? I know I won't get a refund if I'm unhappy with a purchase! This is an unfair practice.
Today's first group of pics is very unappealing. I don't want to pant a toy, a necktie, artichoke, bell pepper, umbrella. And the poor color palette makes them even more displeasing. Pixel Art colors are always drab and lifeless, no contrast or variations to create detail, most shades are in the same color group and are ugly.
The finished product is just a blur and too small. Just because it's pixel art it's no excuse! I'm very familiar with this art style and all that can be accomplished especially with computers. First someone has to be knowledgeable, creative and care enough to get quality results. I don't think this dev gives a hoot!
I do like the challenge of the large, more complex images and the subject matter for these means they will be very time-consuming. The grey pixels make it difficult to easily pick out the numbers you're working on. However, these things are mostly a plus because they slow you down and create challenge which makes it a more satisfying accomplishment. The zoom feature and ability to fill in a large all one color area are very useful and I feel the best features in the game. It doesn't offer the fun features/options like most others.
I do own a bunch of Pixel Art and they were fun in the beginning because they were different. But as time passed, they just stood still and nothing new was added to keep the interest up. I left many pics undone because they were boring, poor subject matter and I was really unhappy with the blurry results. When new devs arrived I jumped ship and never returned, but I would gladly come back if Pixel Art would just make a few changes!
Big Fish, please do something. I had to rewrite this review 3 times because my text is being deleted as I am typing. FIX THE REVIEW PAGE, PLEASE? It broke when the new format was installed in early August. It's way past time to make it right again. It makes reviewing games a nightmare instead of a pleasure! Show less
