This is more of a "resource management" game than time. Quite often you do not have enough of what you need. If you got access to a source that keeps on throwing new ones you got nothing to worry about. But first you got to get to it (or build it) and until you do you have to be careful where you go first, whata obstacles you destroy and what you upgrade.

If you got access to a source that keeps on throwing new ones you got nothing to worry about. But first you got to get to it (or build it) and until you do you have to be careful where you go first, whata obstacles you destroy and what you upgrade.

Do not upgrade a source that you have plenty of. Upgrade the source that you have less if you do.

Do not upgrade the tent to 3 unless you got something that needs 3 people.

Do not get rid of obstacles unless you need to. If you are not told "get rid of those obstacles" or it is the only way to reach where you want to go, let it be. For example, if you have to choose between two obstacles to get to the same point, get rid of the cheaper and do not worry about the big one (there are plenty of swamps that you do not NEED to pave over)

Before you upgrade make the calculation. How much do you need to reach your goal, and how much does it cost you to upgrade? Go for the cheaper one.

If you are constrained by one resource, do not spend it on getting rid of obstacles unless you gain more resources that you spend.

With this in mind you will find a challenging game. Show less

It's better than one star!

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I feel this game was misjudged. The complaint others made of the slow workers is actually a nice feature of the game. As you progress you can allocate "stars" to improve your speed and time. I never listen to music on these games, so that is moot for me. After a few levels i did not like it. Then i found out you get points to upgrade the workers so they work faster and you can upgrade extra time. It was ok. Still very basic. I got stuck on level 21 because i needed 1 piece of wood that i couldn't find anywhere. Couldn't find a walktrough either so i quit.

I don't recommend this game.

The reviews are right that its very challenging so I no Longer look at my time as much as I look to complete a level. The level of strategy is too hard for me on a Time Management Game, Maybe others who are quicker at multitasking will be able to actually complete levels at a 2 star maybe...

I don't recommend this game.

I too was a bit bored by it at the beginning. But I gave it a chance and it gradually became more difficult and enjoyable. I'm currently stuck on level 21 and if anyone has any advice on access to a walkthrough I'd appreciate it.

Graphics presentable but impressionistic, bland, pasty not balanced.

Mood music is Celtic themed but not rousing, somewhat redundant.

I confused this game with Royal Envoy.

Wanted to leave on the first level but thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt and go on to level 2. Could not bring myself to complete that level.
The tasks seem to take the characters a long time to complete. The graphics are dated. The music is very annoying and grates your nerves.
Earliest I have ever come out of a game!

I don't recommend this game.

8FLOOR Games brings you the newest spell-binding adventure in the Royal Roads series! (?????) Surely, there's been a mixup because clearly, the synopsis doesn't match the actual gameplay?? "No One said running a kingdom would be easy", they should have added a warning about how hard it will be to make it to the end of the demo...and trust me, it ain't cuz the game's challenging! I'd also like to congratulate them on receiving THIRTY 1-Star reviews for the CE version, surely that's broken several records?

The soundtrack was like fingernails on a chalkboard, the tall and lanky characters looked odd running back & forth, and why does it take 2 characters to remove a tree log on the path? Why do I have to pick up stones in the field if they are nowhere near the paths, and why are there wheat fields everywhere that aren't used? If I have to pick up rocks way out in the middle of the field wouldn't it make sense to harvest those crops while I'm there? Why do I need crystals to upgrade the worker's houses? Are they magical, is this a fantasy game?

Every time a popup window appeared, the screen would go staticky like Aliens just invaded Earth and took over all broadcasting outlets once I clicked OK and then a giant black bar would appear on either the left or right of the screen depending on where the popup window appeared. It was as if the game was constantly switching resolutions?

There's no spell-binding adventure here, the story is dull and you can't even skip through it! The tasks were repetitive and the resources to collect were ordinary, how many bridges must we repair and why do we have to repeat the same tasks at every level? The only thing that changes level to level is how many of the bridges we are punished to repair! By the time someone gets to level 50, they will be tasked with repairing thousands of bridges at this rate...I say "someone" cuz it ain't gonna be me!

The Collector's Edition version has 14 Achievement Trophies (one of which should be for enduring the game in 1-minute increments) 6 Music Soundtracks, (best of luck listening to these) a whopping 3 Concept Art pictures (probably for the best, seriously, what are you supposed to do with unfinished art sketches?) 50 Main Levels, 11 Bonus Levels, a built-in Strategy Guide, and a whole lotta boring game content.

Ya know what's NOT boring? Taking a stroll through The Woods Forum! If you miss chatting with fellow fishies from the Big Fish Forum days then grab a thermos full of coffee, throw on your favorite jeans & t-shirt, and lace up your hiking boots...ah who are we kidding...just come as you are...keep your comfy fuzzy slippers on, and come chillax with us by the campfire at thewoodsforum.boards.net Show less

I quit after level two. It just seemed like two men running around collecting a resource then back to the house each time. I just could not continue. It seems we wait so long for a good time game which makes this a big disappointment.

I don't recommend this game.

I barely made it through the first level. And as other have said, its mostly just 'watching' the two men gather up resources and fix stuff. I know that is the nature of Time Management games, but there was nothing I could tell that was different or exciting about this game.
Now if you want to be bored and fall asleep then this game is for you.

I don't recommend this game.
